The Atium Problem (spoilers)
Silus - Shard of Flame replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Mistborn
I couldn't find it. I know it's somewhere on TWG, probably in the HoA Spoilers/ Q&A thread, but it's just TOO HUGE. -
Power Items: These are for special items you run across in your travels that have special, very useful effects on you as a Spheremorph. Evolver Evolves a Formsphere into another one. RATING: 2 Complex Evolver Has an additional slot which can filled with a Spherepiece, which will be integrated into the Evolved Form. RATING: 3 Fusers These come in three types, and allow you to combine the power of multiple Forms. Other types are rumored to exist, but have yet to be known. Weaknesses of combined Forms also cross over unless special circumstances (such as a relation between the two Forms) say otherwise. Gated Fuser A Fuser component for Morphing Grids. These are attached to the path between two Sphere nodes on a Grid, and when a Spheremorph moves between the Forms connected by this path, rather than drop the powers he had, it combines them into the new Form's powers, creating an Amalgam Form. These only last as long as they remain in one of these two Forms and must be reconnected if the Form is left. RATING: 2 Auto Fuser This is also a Grid level Fuser of the same type as the Gated Fuser, but rather than requiring the Spheremorph to connect the two Forms, the connection is automatic. But the path must be moved along in order to reach Forms beyond the second Form, or to activate a Special Form. RATING: 3 Full Fuser Independent of Grids, this is a one use item that combines two Forms into each other permanently, creating an Amalgam Formsphere. RATING: N/A 1-point Components Animal Eye Spy Allows the bearer to see through the eyes of any nearby animal, the size and distance of the animal varies with the rating of the grid it is attached to. Uncanny Valley This gives the a slight intuitive warning when there is Illusion or glamour magic or technology being used nearby. It does not provide any information beyond presence or lack thereof. The Hyena Emotional manipulation is harder to use on the user of this component, however the user finds that every thing is funny, and everything is worth a laugh, and likely will laugh. Catch Phrase This component attaches to a slot on a Morphing Grid. When the Spheremorph shifts to that form, he can utter a phrase, at least five words long, and receive a slight strength boost. This phrase must be the same every time and is chosen when the component is first used. Attempting to change the phrase locks out the component until it is attached to a different Grid slot. Heroic Sacrifice When attached to a Spheremount, the Spheremorph names a person or location. Upon the bearer's death in baseline, the Spheremount, Morphing Grid, components, and Formspheres attached to it are immediately teleport to that person or location. This component disintegrates once it has been used in this manner.

Summons: Some Formspheres give the ability to summon different creatures. This post is for them. Heat Serpent A huge, black scaled snake, at least thirty feet long and three feet thick. It has a ridge along the back of its head, giving its face a dragonish look. The air around it is distorted by heat, and steam billows from its nostrils. Its eyes are black and pitiless. This creature is considered a fire summon, though it uses no actual flames. Its body radiates intense heat, enough that even indirect contact is scalding. It can shoot a jet of superheated steam from its mouth that has been known to strip flesh from bones. This creature occurs naturally in parts of the Crags of Dichotomy. Tibbers A massive bear built like a tank, covered in flames, and filled with stuffing. It's not a flesh and blood bear, but a creature of magic, a demon in the form of a monstrous teddy bear. Unique Summon: Can only be summoned by the Dark Child Form; this creature is not naturally occurring.

Wow, Emeralis, way to cut the crap with that merchant, literally (he doesn't do a very good job of cleaning his neck). It appears that Ambro definitely falls into at least one Neutral category. Nice job, cuaiir, that's definitely going into the data topic. Yeah, let's go with that. Sounds good to me, though I'd need the whole form to make any sort of final judgement. Hehehe, I love the sound of that.EDIT: The "drawing something real makes the page useless" rule for the Cartoonist could be dangerous considering the wide range of creatures in this world.

Crazy stuff from that crazy internet!

Market, Crook of the Plains - Ambrosius The merchant's eyes fill with horrified confusion at your words. He gasps for air but gets none. He grimaces in rage and spits a bloody glob in your face before he dies, collapsing behind the ramshackle stall. You glance around, down the alley next to the stall and around at back corner of the market where you stand. A couple of people are back here. One appears to be passed out drunk and the other is a homeless man who is going through a leather pouch, gleefully rubbing coins together. Neither cares about you. Murder is just one of the many things the Crook trades in. Machine Desert - Jay'El "Unless you've got a form that can rebuild structures from debris I really doubt it," he sighs, "but I suppose you can stick around long enough to get rid of that carcass." He gestures to the tigerplane, which may or may not actually be dead, but, regardless, is not going to hurt anyone anytime soon. "That's what your kind does, right? Go from place to place fighting monsters and taking whatever items they've got. As much of scavengers as we are. But they act like they own the whole world cuz of that frakkin tech."

What Are You Reading, Part 2
Silus - Shard of Flame replied to Chaos's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I'm reading Alcatraz Versus the Shattered Lens. Also Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when I exercise. I'm on a bit of a comedy bent if you couldn't tell. XP -
What Are You Listening To Now?
Silus - Shard of Flame replied to Chaos's topic in Entertainment Discussion
BEST EVER."FIRE!!", the Japanese theme from Digimon Frontier, since I have the world's weirdest music tastes. -
Join the Mistborn RP! You know you want to. Which is great, if you like the nobility, like anyone with sense should Your jab does not go unnoticed, Chaos. The nobility just strikes me as being Jane Austen with less romance and in Luthadel. And I despise those books. I was wondering if that was the point you were making. I get that. But if you change your mind!

The Atium Problem (spoilers)
Silus - Shard of Flame replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Mistborn
Well, remember that burning atium turns you into a killing machine. I'd say that qualifies as pretty Ruin-y. And didn't Brandon say in a Q&A that a Lerasium spike would steal all the powers of a Mistborn along with other effects? I believe it was mentioned that he answered that question because he hadn't had a question as in depth as that before. Apparently he got savvy in the latest question roundup since he RAFO'd similar questions from me except for that "burning a hemalurgy spike splices your spiritual DNA" bit. I'm not entirely sure that the Shards have absolute control over how their magic functions in regards to mortals. They may influence things (Preservation's use of the mists, Ruin speaking to people with spikes) but I don't think they control how it's structured. -
The Atium Problem (spoilers)
Silus - Shard of Flame replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Mistborn
I'm not saying that pure atium doesn't exist, I'm saying we haven't actually seen it yet. And I'm not saying that there SHOULD be symmetry between it and the temporal metals, quite the opposite, I'm saying that it SHOULDN'T have symmetry since it isn't actually part of them. I say I'm okay with mistborn burning atium because they can burn any metal with power to it, which would be all the metals that are part of the system plus the metals, which have inherent power to them. It's when you put it by itself that it's weird. But it's already been established that different metals have different burning rates, pewter burning fast, tin burning slow, etc. Atium burns faster because it has so much more power, which seems to be what causes the different rates. Yeah, lerasium has hemalurgic power, but there's no connection to Ruin involved with hemalurgy where there is a connection with Preservation necessary for allomancy to function. I find it odd that a connection to Preservation gives you a power that actually bypasses him. -
Atium as portrayed in the books has several weird inconsistencies as it relates to the other metals, particularly gold and electrum. 1. Atium alloyed with gold is malatium, which does the same thing gold does but seeing other people. This relationship could be used as a good measurement of what to expect from other atium alloys, but falls apart with electrum, which essentially does the same thing normal, unalloyed atium does but for yourself like its base, gold. So where would that put an atium-electrum alloy? It can't do what electrum does for seeing other people since that's what NORMAL atium does! 2. Atium mistings. Why would an increased connection to the power of Preservation, which allows you to access the power of Preservation via allomantic metals, give you a connection that actually funnels power from another source entirely without any connection to Preservation's power at all? Bundled with everything else I understand, but alone? I'm not seeing the logic here. These are the two problems I have, but I have a theory that sorts both out...sorta. I think that atium as seen in the books isn't actually pure atium, rather, it's the atium-electrum alloy. But wait, atium is the hemalurgic wild card, wouldn't it need to be pure atium to do that? We only see atium used to steal one thing in the books: the ability to use atium itself. Nothing else. How do we know that it IS the actual wild card, rather than something else? We don't. What about problem two? This is the second part of my theory. A misting can burn a god metal when it is alloyed with their misting metal. This, coupled with my first theory, means that the atium mistings of the book are actually electrum mistings. It's just that they never knew about electrum long enough to make the connection. The only ones who used it were mistborn, who can use all the metals. Supporting evidence: -Difficulty of making malatium. The reason Kelsier had to travel the world in order to find it was that they didn't alloy atium and gold, they had to take out the presence of silver (the metal alloyed with gold to make electrum) in order to make it. -Preservation's intentions for atium. He wanted to make Ruin weaker by hiding his power as metal. So he put it in the Pits of Hathsin. Why not take it a step further and dilute it with the presence of other metals to mask its presence? -The mist snapping and the mistsickness. This makes it so that Preservation doesn't have to change how the magic is perceived (very preservative of him, eh?), rather, just emphasize a particular type of misting, electrum. This is a theory that's been sitting in my head for a while, and I hope it's not crap. What do you think? And I'm specifically looking at the old TWG theorizers.

So far the biggest time investment we've had is the actual application process. The pace that you go at is up to you. I'll usually post soon after someone else, but if you don't want to put time into it you don't have to. A post a day is a pretty good idea of how it goes for us. Unlike the monster that is the Mistborn RP, whose main topic is longer than WELL OF ASCENSION.

I have to say that this is the best forum I've been on. Other forums I've been on have either been too huge for me to really do anything or my input has been ignored in major discussions. I feel like my opinion has actual weight here. Also, I would never have been able to get my RP up as fast on another board. XP

More like identical, that was pretty much exactly the same scene as the West Jordan signing. His table was in the same spot and everything. At least from what I can discern from the picture.

AARGH! How am I supposed to effectively freeload!?

If you want in on the RP pie, you should join. Then again, that'll just give me more reason to post. But you should still join.

Market, Crook of the Plains - Ambrosius The merchant gives you a look and then bursts out laughing. "If I had a fiver for every time someone tried to pull something like that on me I could buy the biggest mansion in Riverheart." His breath is revolting, and you can see that he has more gaps than teeth from the smile he's giving you. "The knife is a plus and the getup is good, but we both know that I can't pay you with one in my gut. How bout I up the offer to a gold and a silver for your troubles?" The Slums - Eerongal The hit is solid on the man's forearm, forcing him to release the gun he'd just grabbed. Definite fracture, hairline at best. The goon screams, but goes ignored as you look at the scrawny man. He seems innocuous, but a closer inspection reveals fingers fumbling with a fireburst ball, a one use magic item that'll roast you with a strong enough hit.

One of the things about this world is that the currency doesn't make a whole lot of sense, not really being consistent from place to place. Different kinds of money have melded into each other's systems and migrated. A general area around a town will tend to use the same currency, though. Bridge Town and the Crook have similar currencies since they're so close together and the towns between and around them use it too. A gold fiver would be the equivalent of about twenty bucks in our world. A silver fiver is half that and a copper half of that. A fiver is five dollars (duh), which is a mismatching of terms over time since I'm pretty sure a fiver is something different in other countries. Culture has gone kind of crazy here. XP cuaiir has finished the first battle of the RP! Congratulations on taking down a tigerplane transformer!

The Voice in the Storm revisited
Silus - Shard of Flame replied to Andrew the Great's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm pretty sure that this is an entity we have not seen before. This is the first book in a ten book series, it's not like there isn't room for that. -
I'd say just a small section in each page would definitely work. If it gets too big we could have full pages if necessary, right? Here's to hoping that Brandon doesn't die on us before finishing all those books.
