  1. That could surely be @Zellyia, and I like that idea, but even then you have to keep in mind that they at least need to have something in common, although it can be a little bit twisted.

When you compare it to hot and cold: these are opposites, but both express temperature. They are opposites, but to be the opposite of something, you need to share at least one attribute.

  2. So we have this WoB ...

Also, does each of the Unmade have a corresponding order of the Knights Radiant?

    Eh... Kind of.

    XS-Terrain [PENDING REVIEW]

Ok. So there are nine Unmade right, so which one is left out?

    Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

Bondsmith. But it's not as one to one, there's some fuzziness in there.

I don't have much yet, but shall we try to determine to which order of the Radiants each Unmade is related?

    Unmade

    Ashertmarn - ?
    Ba-Ado-Mishram - ?
    Chemoarish - ?
    Dai-Gonarthis - ?
Moelach - Truthwatchers. Pretty sure about this one because of the ability to see the future.
    Nergaoul - ?
    Re-Shephir - ?
Sja-anat - Lightweavers. Her name (Taker of Secrets), strange shadows in mirrors (just like the 2 Cryptics we've seen) and Cryptics like lies (you could see corrupted spren as 'lies').
    Yelig-nar - ?

Further I think that the Skybreaker related Unmade, and maybe also the Windrunner related, is one of the mindless Unmade because these orders also follow something else and don't decide for themselves what they do.

  3. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the characters (although I can't say who) are going to 'die' and sent to Braize. His servants can be fought on Roshar, but to defeat/free (who knows ...) Odium himself I can imagine that you need to travel to Braize where the Shard is located and imprisoned

  4. With only a week to go untill The Fall of Gondolin has it's release I want to ask: are there more of you who are really hyped for it?

When Christopher Tolkien wrote in the preface of Beren and Luthien that there wouldn't be a stand-alone book about The Fall of Gondolin I was quite disappointed, so it made my day when I heard that it would get released nonetheless.

I hope it will be more like The Children of Húrin than like Beren and Luthien, as in that it just contains one (final) version of the story, maybe with some annotations. Does anyone know something about this?

I have already pre-ordered it, the hardcover illustrated by Alan Lee, his drawings are great.

Has Vasher ever been to a world other than Nalthis or Roshar, or was this his first time worldhopping?

    Brandon Sanderson

Vasher has only been to Roshar and Nalthis, beyond places in Shadesmar.

But he could still have learned about other planets and magic systems from within Shadesmar, and maybe Shashara has been to other worlds ...

Bondsmith. But it's not as one to one, there's some fuzziness in there.

The Sibling we know of grants the power of a Bondsmith, precisely the order left out with the Unmade. So what if a primitive, complete Sibling was somehow unmade and shattered by Odium, creating the Unmade and leave the Sibling (that can only grant the power of a Bondsmith) as a remainder ...?

I made a spreadsheet which I think will serve to (1) clearly show which templates need a quote and (2) help keep track of ideas.

This helps a lot! I put the link in my first post so it will stay easy to find.

I suggest we give ourselves a few weeks (till the end of this month or so) to think of a few quotes for each notice and then choose the best from what we have collected.

If given the opportunity, which Shard would Kelsier want to punch next?

    Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

He would find it really fun to punch Honor. Really fun.

I can think of only 2 reasons why Kelsier would want to punch Honor specifically:

    1. Kelsier hates the nobility, and Honor could be related to the nobility from a certain point of view.

    Or

    2. Perhaps Kelsier punched Preservation and Ruin/Ati to check if they were real (at least that is how I see it). The Ghostbloods are active on Roshar, Honor's planet, so maybe their/Kelsier's goal is to restore the Shard Honor or something like that, and being able to punch Honor in the face would mean that Honor was a complete Shard once again, and that his/their goal was completed.

I know this is far-fetched, but I wanted to mention the second (possible) reason anyway

  9. There's one thing I like in particular about the Tolkiengateway wiki, and that's the use of in-world quotes for notices, like in the image below.

Wouldn't it be nice if we did something similar?

They use the notices mainly for editors, while we use them mostly for the readers.
I found 3 notices that are used commonly (not including the "This page is part of the August 2018 objectives!" notice, since that one is directed to the editors and not to the readers), but there are a few more of them. See https://coppermind.net/wiki/Category:Notices for a complete list.

These are the notices I was thinking of, with a quote I had in mind:

    1. This page or section contains spoilers for ...!
"Be wary of anyone who claims to be able to see the future." - Hoid
(Not sure if this is the exact quote, I'm on vacation without my Oathbringer copy currently)

    2. This page or section deals with theory or speculation.
"I only tell stories, Your Grace. They may be truths, they may be fictions. All I know is that the stories themselves exist and that I must tell them." - Hoid
(In abbreviated form because this is quite/too long)

    3. This page or section needs to be updated with new information for ...!
"There's always another secret" - Kelsier
(We should be able to find a better quote for this one)

Please let me know what you think of this idea, and do some suggestions on which quotes to use, or which notices could use a quote.

Edit: I just saw that only the page on Kelsier does something like this, but that really is an exception

You can share your ideas in this spreadsheet:

  10. I was reading the page on Kandra at the Coppermind wiki and then I saw this:

    Quote

Fulfilling Contracts is their way of "paying for their freedom" to prevent humans from seeking ways to enslave them in other ways and finding out about their weakness to Allomancy.

I haven't read HoA in a while (I still have to buy my own copy), but I always thought the main reason that the Kandra worked for atium was to stockpile it in a vault so Ruin was denied acces to a part of his condensed power.

However, I can't find any mention of this on the Coppermind, so I hoped you could tell me if the wiki is incomplete or if I perceived it the wrong way.

  11. I think that has to be Marsh, infiltrating the Steel Ministry and even become an inquisitor while leaking information to Kelsier's crew requires real talent and skill, and then keeping his mind under Ruin's influence to wait resisting until he could pull Vin's earring out

  12. Eä! (Let it/me exist)

Some of you fantasy-readers might know this quote. For those who don't: it's from Tolkien's works. (From which comes my name, Thurin means The Secretive in the elven-tongue)

I really like those books, but after reading them quite often I was up for something new to read, and that turned out to be the Cosmere. The coherency did the trick for me.

I signed up because I look forward to participate in some theory discussions, and I have some ideas for the Coppermind wiki that I want to discuss with you all.
