[OB] Unkalaki have Listener blood. What other races do?
NiceBleach replied to NiceBleach's topic in Stormlight Archive
Some Vedens (like Shallan) have Unkalaki blood, and thus have red hair, so some Vedens have some Listener blood.- 12 replies

[OB] Kalak in the prologue to Way of Kings
NiceBleach replied to NiceBleach's topic in Stormlight Archive
I wonder where he is. My guess is that one herald went to each Epoch Kingdom (or Silver Kingdom), excluding Aimia, although I don't think this is the case because Shalash has been moving around killing paintings. In the interlude in which we are introduced to Shalash killing a bunch of paintings, she was in Emul, which would have been a part of Each herald probably went to one of the Epoch Kingdoms following Aharietiam. Just because they went to a kingdom doesn't mean they stayed there. It would make sense for the heralds to stay in their separate Kingdoms for a while after Aharietiam in order to maintain the ruse that they ascended to the tranquiline halls to "continue the fight there." Jeziren probably went to Alethela, as that is where he was at least from Dalinar's alcoholism to his (Jeziren's) death. Nale might have gone to Shin Kak Nish, although I have nothing which proves or disproves that theory, beyond Nale and the Shin both seeming like they know a good deal more than the rest of the world. Really, idk where he went Chanarach. I have no clue. Vedel. Idk. If she was, like her Radiant counterparts, keen on "Remembering those who have been forgotten," she might have gone to Rishir, as the Reshi Isles were a part of Rishir, and the Reshi Isles seem like a rural, forgotten holiday destination sort of place. Pailiah. No clue. Shalash was recently spotted in Emul, but if she's been going on her crusade to kill all paintings of her (and I guess that she's had at least 1000 years to do so), she might have completed her crusade in what was Sela Tales or something and moved on to another country. Basically, idk. Battar has been in Kharbranth, so that would be Thalath. Kalak. To support my theory that there is some connection between the Unkalaki and Kalak, I would guess that Kalak went to Valhav, which is the location of the Horneater peaks. Talenel. Braize. Ishar. He's (been) in Tukar, so Makabakam.- 13 replies

[OB] Kalak in the prologue to Way of Kings
NiceBleach replied to NiceBleach's topic in Stormlight Archive
Makes sense. If that's the case, then whenever we meet up with Kalak again, something really cool will probably happen. Maybe he'll drop some knowledge.- 13 replies

Is there some sort of significance to the fact that the prologue to Way of Kings takes place from Kalak's point of view?

I assume that Adolin and Maya will become something new that we haven't seen or heard of before, sort of like how Venli (a Listener) bonded Timbre (a spren of Honor), or Renarin (a human) bonded Glys (a spren of Honor, corrupted to become a spren of Odium). This new Desolation is full of things that have never happened before. That doesn't necessarily mean that Maya will become a spren of the Stonewards. According to someone from Shadesmar in Oathbringer, it isn't possible to revive a spren who has died and whose Radiant has also died, but who knows. New things are happening that have never happened before. Additionally, a being who is "broken" has suffered some great trauma. I assume this has to be mental, as opposed to physical, trauma. As I'm writing this, I realized that being "broken" in this way is, like the fulfillment of the Radiants' oaths, a matter of perception. The fulfillment and following of a Radiant's oaths is, as Kaladin discovered at the end of WoR, determined by the Radiant's perception of whether or not they are following their oaths. A person could witness a thousand deaths without "breaking," but if someone they love is brutally murdered in front of them, they (could) "break." Perception. This would seem to disprove @animalia's theory about being "broken" and not realizing it, but perhaps not. Perhaps someone can be "broken" in this way and not realize it. We don't know. What I think happened is that Taln was "broken" just like the other heralds, but the other heralds were all mentally exhausted and scared. They were all scared of the torture. Taln, in his absolute selflessness, was willing to withstand the torture in order to spare humanity. It wasn't that Taln wasn't "broken" or didn't realize that he was "broken". It was that Taln was selfless, and the other nine heralds were not.

I looked over that quote yesterday, and I don't think that Lift saved Zahel. If she had, it would have been in the years before she met Wyndle, and for all of those years, I'm pretty sure that Zahel was being the royal sword fighting trainer person for the Kholins. Any absence on Zahel's part would have been noted when he was introduced to us. Adolin had Zahel as a trainer for as long as (if not longer than) Lift's been alive.

I think Nightblood is referred to as a he somewhere in Warbreaker or Stormlight. I'm also pretty sure that Nightblood has said various things which suggest that he does not have any sense of time. I can't wait for the next Stormlight book.

Kelsier and Lift or Kelsier and Kaladin. I'm not sure who's the angel and who's the devil in either situation.

[OB] Unkalaki have Listener blood. What other races do?
NiceBleach replied to NiceBleach's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh yeah. I forgot about Herdazians. I feel like more than just Herdazians and Horneaters were being referenced in the entry. If it was only those two races, the entry would/should have said something along the lines of "the other race apart from Herdazians known to have Listener blood in their ancestry." Additionally, do you think that "Unkalaki" having the word "kalak" in it is significant at all?- 12 replies

On the Coppermind Wiki entry for Unkalaki, it says that they "are one of several races on Roshar with Listener blood in their ancestry." Which other races are these "several races?"

Yeah I agree. It's not Odium.

Makes sense

Some shard is attacking Scadrial. Who is it?

I could have just removed the part of my message where I said when the event happened.

Oops. Fair point. I'll fix that.

I would recommend that you put the traits relative to the orders out of order. On the third step, for example, you have Honor first, followed by Justice, for Windrunners and Skybreakers respectively.

In response to the question of how many Radiants existed, I would give the answer of a lot. There were only ever no more than 3 bondsmiths at a time. Do you count squires as radiants? I guess not. The squires in Oathbringer don't. I feel like I remember someone saying something in an epigraph about some orders of radiants keeping their numbers low. I don't think we have enough information to give even a reliable ballpark answer.

Would you credit Gavilar with uniting Alethkar? Makes sense, I guess. He's the king. Maybe also credit Dalinar and Sadeas. Doesn't really matter much.

Do the Rosharans know that their planet is round?
NiceBleach replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Stormlight Archive
Although on a round world, the other side of the world would just be whatever point on the surface of the world that is 180 degrees away from your current position. -
[OB] The Unmade. Gotta catch 'em all!
NiceBleach replied to Bigmikey357's topic in Stormlight Archive
What is the scouring of Aimia? Never mind. I really wish we had more information on the scouring. Judging from her nickname of "Dustmother," I'm going to guess that a Dustbringer is going to take care of Chemoarish. -
