  1. So, first off. Kadrok! Don't read this. I'm serious. you can read it later. Ok, so I came up with another question while playing the adventure game. There is a feruchemist in a burning building, and he is finally storing in his brass minds. I was hoping to have him burn his hair off, so his metalminds would be obvious, but with him storing in a brassmind would that store the heat off dead skin cells? Would walking through a fire be the greatest exfoliant and closest shave ever? Do we ever hear of Sazed storing heat, and he mentions his few months of baldness...
  2. I'd be a platinum allomancer (then I'd have a bunch of valuable metal right?) and a salt feruchemist. let the awesome begin!
  3. So, I have a knadra in one of my Mistborn adventures and he is currently ingesting a smoker with some tattoos. It got me wondering, are there references to tattoos in the books? Would a kandra be able to mimic tattoos correctly (I suspect yes, since they can obviously correctly mimic birth marks/scars.) Would they be able to shift the ink around to form new tattoos? Thoughts?
  4. Oh well I certainly don't want to win cool Brandon Sanderson stuff, so I'll be careful not to comment here...
  5. I've been reviewing these puns and I hate to be the one that needs to shed LIGHTS on the subject, but some of these puns are off COLORS. One was so bad it almost turned my computer to RUST, AND RUINed my screen. There was SHATTERING GLASS all over my keyboard. You may think you can sneek one BY THE FORGOTTEN GODS, but one of these NIGHTS it will catch up to you. Just had to get that off my chest; Don't want to start a FLAMING STORM, YOU know.
  6. A few WOB that I have found to help this discution. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=718 (Question 2) A few others pertaining to who can use hemalurgy.
  7. Forgot about that one. Still, I can be greedy can't I? You receive a bead of lerasium... alloyed with aluminium. I wish for a Misthorse.
  8. A Shardblade materializes out of the mists, sticking out of your chest. I wish Hoid would get a POV.
  9. Aluminum with a little atium actually saps metals that you had ingested, in the past, for a time. I have proven this by personal experience. Sometime in the future I will burn a huge dose of this alumtium, because I have not been able to burn anything until then. EDIT: so I guess that practicaly it allows you to ingest metals again without them being sapped away instantly.
  10. Coming from a theater background I am sure they would use allomancy or feruchemy in theater if it was available. And not just the actors. Stage hands could use stored strength, or pewter to move set peices on and off. Coinshots or lurchers would be able to move platforms or props around on the stage seemingly by magic! In the flyspaces they could be used to drop things then pull them back up (Ribbons, birds, metal-laced psuedu-ash.) As for the actors, if the theater was set up anything like modern theaters (or Shakespearean theaters for that matter) there should be enough metal around to hover above the stage and move around wherever one wishes with a bit of practice. Simply by pushing out on stuff above and below and to the sides. Work? yes, you would need to practice every day just like you do to get your lines or blocking down. But then on Scadrial the crowds would expect there to be allomancy. They wouldn't say "Wow, this Pan fellow is flying!" They would know he is a coinshot or lurcher. They would murmur that of course Cyrano was a tineye. With a nose that big it was a given. (Disambiguation note: Nobles would know. Skaa would not, but since the Skaa would never go out for the night...)
  11. I have to Ash the question. With all the mists how do they know when the moon will Wax or Wayne? Now which button do I push to submit this post? Ah, that's right! The Dark One! EDIT: Wait I forgot! Brandon Sazed Scadrial has no moon! I must be going inZane. Now I'm Terrisfied!!!
  12. In the future they can make metal vials out of aluminum. So then they would not have to wait for the real forces, and they would not have the disadvantage of metals to be stolen. Twinborn Hazekilling SWAT troops, maybe with a few charged acupuncture spikes or some of that condensed mist? Way better than dudes with hardwood canes. And since it seems allomancy will be coming out of beta in the second trilogy, it might become hard to find a muggle.
  13. Well Rust and Ruin! Who does he think he is? Thinks he can just write stuff and we'll lap it up :angry:/> 2nd try: "The Syringe held the key to ancient powers that every single person on the stupid planet has in one form or another. Vinnet plunged it into her arm. She ignored the now familure pain as the cold saline solution spread down her arm. So odd that simple Salt would have such an... "Ouch! she cried "The needle broke again?..." Acupuncture! I want to see acupuncture interacting with hemalurgy. MAybe as part of one of the religions. a whole heap ton of slightly charged needles in the right bindpoints. Maybe some incense? Open the Chakrahs, fling some metal around, fiddle with emotions, chat with Harmony?
  14. Yes, I suppose the powers would not weaken past a certain point, but the availability of sDNA would decrease over time. Especially since Allomancers tend toward the arts martial. In Classical Scadrial the arts of allomancy were very rare indeed, and in the books they state (I can't remember where) that the probability that someone would be born as an allomancer was waning. If nobody finds anymore Larazium in the interim this should continue. Sure Harmony could add a little here and a little there, possibly to the point that everyone has some power. Harmony would like that equality, I think. Though, once they discover how to manipulate the sDNA and add powers everybody could get it. Then the third trilogy could be about a planet of Mistborn\Feruchemists that travel to the other shard worlds and steal all their other shardic powers. "The Syringe held the key to ancient powers long forgotten. Vinnet plunged it into her arm. She ignored the now failure pain as the cold spread down her arm. A strange urge to eat the coins in her pocket seized her..."
  15. Hrathen: "You must submit to the will of Lord Jaddeth!" Marsh: "You wear alot of metal. You look blue." Hrathen: "It is actually red. If you had eyes you would see the truth of Jaddeth's world. You would hear his voice in..." Marsh: "No thanks. I have enough voices in my head as it is. Are those tattoos? They pulse oddly" Hrathen: "They are powers given to me by Lord Jaddeth!" Marsh: "I wonder what metal the spike would need to be..." Lan: "Is this the room for the "Emotionless Glare" meeting?" OOC: look no theories!... except for what metal would be needed to steal those tattoos...
  16. Whenever I think about it I imagine that the three powers fade to the point that they are almost mythological. Then a group of geneticists uncovers a way to modify the DNA to create allomancy or Feruchemy. Then there is an arms race to create more and more powerful allomancers. Then we discover that there is a family of allomancers that, Like the Classical Terris, have kept their powers by interbreeding. Or some archiologists uncover a cache of Larasium, and are like "What is it?" "I don't know. Try eating it... OH heartburn..." Maybe that would be to far of a stretch.
  17. Well if the mists followed the same progression as in the Alloy of Law then as short as 700 (or less) years after the Asscention, people would have been able see the stars at night. They would know that there are stars in the sky through myth, song, interpretative dance... Like the word "Wine" Scadrial has no flowers after the asscention but they still call some alcoholic drinks "Wine". As to quoting Arthur Clarke... I do. Why would they not have Arthur Clarke on Scadrial? Now you are just being silly...
  18. "Fiusha pushes on the coin. Ballancing on a single anchor with all of her might. Suddenly she is hit by a huge force. The coin pushes her up farther then she could ever go by herself. The mists part in her path. As she reaches the top of her arc she turns her head to see the unveiled night sky. "Lord Ruler! It's full of stars!!!"
  19. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=727#43 In this answer Brandon states that the prophesies were corrupted. So, we really don't know what they said to begin with or in what language even. He says "The ashfalls would have grown worse over the centuries, and the next buildup of the Well might not have come in time for them to do anything." So maybe only two accentions... http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=691#6 This question mentions previous assentions, but Brandon does not address it. Either way, The Bump texts by Sazed indicate that Rashek was a bit foolhardy, or ambitious. If the previous Heroes took the power and realized the tyranny that could come about if Allomancy and Feruchemy joined; or they interpreted the urge to preserve as maintaining the status quo (Rather than needing to personally ensure the continuation), they might have left the beads, or hidden them. Edit: Thought about it some more, and wonder where the Ceramic bead holders came from. Also, it makes sense to me that the Terris people would realize that they need to isolate their sDNA to prevent allomancy and Feruchemy mixing, because they saw it when using the power. Further, they were almost up to steam power by Rashek's time. They would need a bit of time to advance that far. It could be either way, but I really like the idea that there were a bunch of these cycles before the Dark One's prison had weakened enough for him to touch the world. I mean Ruin...
  20. Anybody in the south eastern Wisconsin area (Watertown, Jonson Creek, etc) interested in playing?
  21. I've been thinking about this and there are a few ramifications to allowing non-mistborn multiple metals purely as a house rule. first and most important: what do you name them? might i sugest "dualborn". has a good parallelism. or my favorite "alloyborn" less parallel but I just like the implications. second, you will probably want to change the rule that makes Larasium alloys "replace" existing powers with the new metal, if they are different. methinks these two rules to the allomantic system are intertwined. this might even be a good way by itself to allow your alloyborn sniper to exist. third, if the increased connection to Preservation causes the second, or full mistborn status, to manifest; would not increasing your spirit stat add more metals? since the spirit stat is to represent your connection to the spiritual realm? just some food for thought.
  22. well my understanding is that aluminum is the modern method. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silvering during the final empire aluminum was very expensive when they knew about it at all(if i remember Vin's metallurgist was able to find a full set of silverware made out of aluminum so not completely unknown...) so maybe if you alloy it with lead or silver you could find an allomanticaly inert alloy that would not use too much aluminum. other than that... maybe a really smooth piece of glass that has been smoked on the back?
