  1. Ooo, thanks, I didn't get to ask it (it was like #89 on my list and I asked I think six questions, most of them because I stayed til the end of the signing and he just hung out with us) but I did have a question which was basically that... I wanted to know, when Lightsong has the flashback to his first death, were we seeing the Cognitive Realm?
  2. Hey everyone! Great to meet other Sharders, as ever. I do have the audio transcript; unfortunately, apparently he spoke at some point with someone about someone personally, and he's asked me to go through and clip out that audio before I post it. I believe he said it was pretty close to the end, so hopefully I'll be able to get that up before too very long, and can beg for transcription help. Him asking me not to post that audio prompted me to stop the recording, so there are a couple of questions asked I didn't get. I remember mine; it's a paraphrase, but his answer was reasonably direct. I asked, if Shai bonded a Shardblade, could one of her Essence Marks (like Shai-Zan) summon it? He said, she'd have to make an essence mark where her history "split off" more recently than she got the Blade. I asked as a follow-up, what if it was Shai-Zan who bonded it, and he said then only Shai-Zan could summon the Blade, Shai couldn't. I did not at the time think to ask, could she Forge a plausible history where Shai-Zan ALSO bonded the same Blade. The signing was SUPER AWESOME. Seeing all the fans. Seeing the costumes. Meeting The Man. He had a seriously sore throat but powered through. If you're going to a future signing, the "reading" is different than the one from last tour, and personally I find it REALLY fascinating. I expect I will not be alone in this. One of my favorite moments: I was dressed as a Mistborn. I saw a guy standing in line in a similar costume. So I grabbed a few clips from my mistsash and threw them at him. He turned around and laughed when he realized what I was doing, and threw some dollar coins (boxings?) at me. We did this for a while before my buddy tricked the other guy into borrowing his sword, not realizing it was Nightblood. Beyond that, it was hanging out with people, walking to Wawa, discussing deeply realmatic things. @Art: If you're who I think you are, my buddy was talking the entire drive home about how much he loves his Nightblood drawing. He's certain he's got the only copy of Alcatraz in the world with Nightblood drawn in it by Alcatraz's illustrator in the presence of Brandon himself.
  3. The RAFO card explains that RAFO is not a promise that this specifically will come up in a book. Basically, unless he gives you a reason alongside the RAFO, it's just his quirky way of saying, "I inscrutably choose not to answer you."
  4. Ugh... want to cull list, but don't want to spoil Calamity... I assume since you mention it, Calamity spoilers aren't hidden? Well, I'll just have to risk double-questions, then.
  5. Dirigible asked the Svrakiss questions; RAFO.
  6. Dude these were AWESOME questions, and fascinating answers. EDIT: Also, as someone going to a signing today, thank you for getting the questions/answers up so quickly so I can cull my own list of repeats...
  7. Double-posting because the event happens in 17 hours. I will be dressed as a Mistborn, and handing out question cards.
  8. Are you referencing the broadsheet? I'm not positive we can be so sure that's not in-universe fiction. Also, keep in mind, Perpendicularities seem to be more necessary for returning from the Cognitive to the Physical, rather than going Physical to Cognitive.
  9. Just got a phone call from the venue. Apparently there's been a loosening in the policy. You still have to buy a copy of Calamity, but beyond that you can bring however many books from home as you want. He will sign them all, but will only personalize three.
  10. I'm not questioning your reasoning... but odder things have happened. I'd like it better if we had a certain answer. My post was in reply to you responding to that specific question, saying, "the matter is closed." There's compelling evidence, and I'd be surprised if Vasher ever saw a living Sprenblade... but things have surprised me before.
  11. They were friends once? The only thing I know about their past is that in The Letter, Hoid refers to Rayse before the Shattering of Adonalsium as "the most loathsome... of individuals".
  12. I never know what to ask for as my personalization. Any suggestions? I'm fine with just him signing my books but in the past he's just written random things, like once he wrote RAFO when I hadn't even asked a question. So I'd like to ask for a personalization. I guess I should think of a couple of softball questions he's sure to answer, or just a quote or something? The books will be Bands of Mourning, Firefight, and Calamity.
  13. Just trying to narrow it down to "a dead sprenblade" without getting needlessly technical. He's wriggled out of questions before when it turns out, there's this one weird unique "dead sprenblade" that would act a certain way under certain circumstances. This is a shorthand so I don't have to fill my questions with qualifiers.
  14. Kay. I don't personally interpret the information that same way, I was just wondering if you had something additional. We know that the whole planet has one system of magic that expresses itself differently depending on where you are, but they all channel the Dor. I would expect that the Moon Scepter lets you tap into the Dor for your type of magic, anywhere, but I would be surprised if it lets you tap into the Dor on a planet where the Dor simply wasn't there.
  15. Well, if it was simply "changing mass" Wax's density would change, and it does not. I need help phrasing my question to be less awful. I want it to be something like, "If you took Adolin's Shardblade to the lake near Elantris and put it in the water, might it react like a Hoed Elantrian?"
  16. No, he dodged the question. He said Vasher could have just heard a story. Either learning about them or seeing one would have worked. That I know of, though, this is the first we learn that he modeled Nightblood on a life Sprenblade, not a dead one.
  17. Ha ha, fixed. I saw the -1 and I was like... this was not something someone did on purpose.
  18. Ah, got those already.
  19. Please tell me what the questions are. I am going to the signing Saturday, and I'm going to print out many questions on little cards to hand out to people who don't have questions of their own.
  20. Definitely was not me, I upvoted to cancel it. I personally suspect the story in the newpaper was a simple work of fiction, and therefore implies nothing, but it could be based on truth, I suppose. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some way for a Leecher to drain reserves from metalminds, but I expect it's similar to how bronze can Seek feruchemy. It should be that easy but clearly isn't, so there's something we're missing. Huh. Sounds like either Roshar or Rithmatist, to me. Interesting question! This supports, I think, my current theory that her request was, "I want to be awesome."
  21. @Landis: I found that one WoB about Inquisikids for you. Also, upvote for the phrase, "love-hate relationship with genetics." Lemme know if there are any questions you don't get to ask, I'm making a big list I'm gonna print out on cards to hand out in Philly on Saturday and I need more questions.
  22. Double posting. I'M A MAVERICK! I'm coming up with a list of questions for the Philly stop Saturday. Anyone's help posting the questions asked at signings this week would be much appreciated. Or if you can post the questions you're planning to ask so I know not to double-ask.
  23. 1. I am bringing a gift. 2. I have brought gifts in the past. 3. People frequently give gifts. The most common are Magic: The Gathering cards and ... I think cookies? Some delicious snacky-thing, I forget what specifically he requests. Avoid giving anything that would be creepy under any circumstance and I think you're good.
  24. Thanks for checking, that's different from last year. Oh, well, I guess I'll get Calamity.
  25. This is fascinating, since I asked an almost-identical question in his recent AMA, and was specifically told he was not going to answer such questions. Awesome! Thank you.
