Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Shivertongue replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Honestly, if not for the power outage I had on the first night, preventing me from getting my orders in on time and thus derailing the beginnings of the plan I had, we would have had a better chance of winning. Because of that, and other real-life factors early on, I had to improvise. I decided the game was Daes Dae'mar, so we were going to play Daes Dae'mar. Motives wrapped in motives wrapped in misdirection with a light tangy glaze of disinformation and misinformation. Is that an accurate deduction, or merely what we want you to think, or what you think we want you to think? Is that the truth, or a lie, or a half-truth, or a lie meant to be seen as truth, or a truth wrapped in lies...- 503 replies

I am going to laugh so much if all three of us end up in the same house after establishing this three-way animosity. xD My intro/RP post should be coming in tomorrow. As of now, I'll just say "Cadri Raisaal, youngest of the main branch of Raisaal."- 657 replies

Would this work as a television series?
Shivertongue replied to IdlyIdeological's topic in Stormlight Archive
After much consideration, I have a counter-offer for a Stormlight adaptation. Disney musical. No, wait. Hear me out. First of all, you say it takes a big budget to make something good? I know a thousand independent films that would disagree with you, but Disney (or Dreamworks, or Pixar, etc) can put insane amounts of money into things. And the merchandising would be so simple - spren plushies with big happy eyes, action figures you can dress in Shardplate, Bridge 4 shirts, the list is endless! Sure, HBO could get that kind of marketing going, but Disney would have it all on the shelves on the first DAY. And sure, HBO might add sex scenes, which would be completely against the tone of the series and problematic with the author himself, but Disney can one-up that. Disney can offer something even better. Musical numbers. Just imagine: Bridge Four breaking out in a powerful dirge as they rush onto the Shattered Plains. Sadeas singing his plans to three bumbling henchmen while guitars wail in the background. Syl singing as she flitters about Kaladin, convincing him of his worth and importance through the power of music and catchy rhymes. You want a broad audience for the series? Disney movies are almost always hits in theatres, and when they stop being so, they can always just do the rest as straight to dvd. And if it's super-successful? I have four words for you. Saturday. Morning. Cartoon. Show. The adventures of Bridge Four as teenagers, dealing with all the trials and tribulations of youth by day at Torol Sadeas Public High School, and the dangers of being beaten to death for insolence by any number of ranking officers by night, and on the weekends, competing in the Shattered Plains Bridge-Running League against hated rival, Dalinar Kholin Private Preparatory Academy. Popular and arrogant rich boy Adolin Kholin butting heads with misunderstood loner yet Bridge Crew all-star Kaladin 'Stormblessed' Jones as they both try to be the first to ask witty and popular Shallan Davar to the Enchantment Under the Storm Dance. Shallan desperately trying to keep both her grades up, her social life, functioning, and her much-needed part-time job as assistant to Principal Jasnah Kholin. And by night, Kaladin dons his mask and spear as the enigmatic teen suprerhero, Windrunner! I'm telling you, it's a veritable license to print money.- 44 replies

Zeith has no problem being a coward in a situation beyond his control - he may be a rogue, but he's more of a conman rogue than a swashbuckling, backstabbing rogue. I suppose I could write them coming back together - because showing how that works is important, I feel - and then have him win the "coin toss" and remain in control, and then run off and hide. Although, if Swimmingly is cool with it, I was thinking he could be one of Zeith's "friends" in this city. Whether that is an actual friend or a "friend" Zeith doesn't know he pissed off, would be up to Swim. xD

Well, dang... things move fast here. Trying to decide where Aes and Zeith should come back in, and how...

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Shivertongue replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Khamsi gasped in utter shock as the sudden change in the simple farmer. The tone on his voice sent icy chills running down her spine, and she suddenly found herself on the ground, scrambling backwards, needing to get away from the dreadful voice. The *SNAP* of Bunnt's neck echoed throughout the nearly-empty village and embedded itself into Khamsi's memory forever. Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself to her feet, brushing dust and dirt from her beloved cloak. "Light," she said softly, breaking the silence that had fallen on the rest of the town. "That was ominous." ---- Despite accusations in both RP and in blue, I still maintain my innocence! Khamsi is so clearly being set up. 7312134746254415005439103346531330465453382117461745501332731320 7212701444221413445315803911142514124510134750111338404712259047 4120131273391073122576141330121276250011127654258039225373901311 5373734737504725207247731013473044221525737025328713 11471037141239202513479038547644 (8317271715105439902913141200132740131273202245271210 222527762740541383004938122550143049835315207238125660 14452510548041112727951370541330728314505425703915905449252787) 14292930218829538812464022251450491220462912764745- 503 replies

Whats the best writing advice you've ever seen/heard?
Shivertongue replied to Atilium's topic in Creator's Corner
Every time I get a book signed, I asked the author to include the most valuable piece of writing advice that they never got, or that they ignored. This is what I currently have: "Sit your butt down and WRITE." - Pat Rothfuss, signed in Wise Man's Fear "If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong." - Cherie Priest, signed in Dreadnaught "The best writers are better revisers." - Brandon Sanderson, signed in Alloy of Law "Try something different! You never know which genre fits your voice." - Gail Carriger, signed in Soulless "Just make sure you're always having fun." - George Mann, signed in Ghosts of Manhattan ...I actually have more, but there were the ones that were easiest to reach. -
Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Shivertongue replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Joy, another bandwagon. This has worked so well for us in the past... I'm throwing my vote to Trimat, for reasons I have explained to Wilson that basically come down to this: He told me he was a Viewer, and who he Viewed. After consulting with Wilson, I found out he told her the same, but told her different Viewings than he told me. And the last Viewiing he claims was of Sprell, who was conveniently killed the same night. So either Trimat is lying about being a Viewer to mess with us, or is a Viewer and has been messing with us by lying about who he's Viewed. Either way, I'm certain he is a Darkfriend. And if he's lynched tonight and I'm proven wrong, I will walk up the gallows steps and put the noose on myself with the next vote. Also, I vote to keep myself as mayor, as Waes is clearly going mad from the Taint. (I'd like to submit an objection to how these elections work. If they can be so easily circumvented, is there really a point? I never got to even use my double-vote... after all I've done for this town... ) [Edited because I misremembered something]- 503 replies

(Just an admin request to keep things relatively clean, kids ) There is always the classic, "You leave me Breathless..." "I'm glad I wasn't summoning a shardblade when you walked by, because my heart just skipped a beat." "Am I about to Snap, or are you just so beautiful it hurts?"

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Shivertongue replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Khamsi sat on the charred remains of a stool, staring into the middle distance. Around her were the ruins of The Waffle House. Lingering among the rubble were spots of sticky syrup and the scent of fresh waffles, enticing all who came to gawk. It was the tastiest rubble anyone had ever smelled. "All gone.." she mumbled, repeating the phrase every few seconds. "All gone... all gone... all gone..." She pulled a flask from inside her cloak and took a long swig. The alcohol did little to dull the shock, but it did send a very pleasing warmth throughout he rbody. That was something, right? Rishi wandered around the ruins, occasionally shooting worried glances her way. Khamsi ignored her for now; the poor dear was probably more worried about how she would support her family than she actually was for her. She heard her name, and blinked, looking up to locate the source. She found a crowd of people standing near... some guy. She recognized him - he'd been in her inn since she'd reopened it. Literally, he'd actually been inside before she'd finished hanging the sign. Gram... Grem... Grum. That was it. Grum Pail. Must make buckets for a living when not drunk. "However, I wonder about you, Khamsi. Nothing has seemed right about you this whole time. Bursting into town, dazzling us with your music, staying to defend. Then lifting our spirits, saying so much while saying nearly nothing at all. Then leading us in a vote, eventually killing an innocent. Yes, I am sure - somewhat - that people can be wrong. But it all simply does not add up to me. Of course, Creator knows my reasoning can be bad at times. I'm not saying I'm sure you're a Darkfriend; I'm only sure of two things, and my surety of that fact is not one of them. However, I would like to hear you defend yourself, as well as what others have to say about you." It took a moment to register what he was saying. Khamsi blinked, slowly rising to her feet as the accusation sank into her brandy-muddled mind. She staggered a bit, making her way to the group. "But, most importantly, Khamsi, with the Waffle House gone, how am I going to get anything to drink?" She smiled, slipping back into a professional demeanor. "My friend, I have that last question answered easily," she said, pulling the flask out from her cloak again. She tossed it to him, noting the look of joy on his face as he pulled out the stopper and began pouring the expensive spirits down his gullet. "Grum, we have known each other for so long - since before I even opened this inn, in fact. You were there the very first day. My very first, and most loyal patron." She paused, bending down to pick through some rubble for a moment before pulling out the charred remains of a stool, miraculously with all the legs intact, if much shorter. She grinned broadly as she set it down at his side, patting the seat. "Ha! Look at that, I found your stool! Here, have a seat." With a soft sigh, she looked back out over the destruction again. "In all the time we've known each other, Grum, have you ever known me to be untrustworthy? Have any of you, for that matter? Yes, I swept into town with a big show meant to capture your eyes, ears, and hearts, but what else would one expect from a purveyor of glee such as myself? Lifting spirits is my calling, bringing joy to the hard-working and hard-living. I've stayed originally because of the contract I signed with the mayor before he died, but I've grown to love this little speck of a village. It's been my home for so long, longer than any other place I have visited in years. My inn and my waffles have become my life, along with providing the best entertainment I could in these trying times. She turned back to the villagers. "Are you really saying that, after all this time we've known each other, that you no longer trust me?" Rishi quietly stepped forward and tapped Khamsi on the shoulder, gesturing with a finger for her to come closer. "Yes?" Khamsi asked as she leaned down. Rishi whispered into her ear. Khamsi blinked. "What do you mean it's only been two days?" Khamsi blinked, straightening back up. "Well, everything I've said is still true. And I admit to making a mistake with the horse, but I thought at the time that I was right. There are stories, I'm sure you've heard, of Shadowspawn that can change their shape. And if, Light forbid, we are dealing with one of the Forsaken... the stories say they can work the One Power in ways that Aes Sedai of today can only dream of. I thought the horse seemed too smart to be a horse - I still stand by that belief, by the way; bloody beast was far too clever. And when nobody, not even it's owner, stepped forward to defend it, it was further proof in my eyes." She glanced toward the post Bela had once used, which was, miraculously, still standing. "Seriously, anyone know who owned that horse?" Bending down, Khamsi picke dup the shattered remains of The Waffle House's sign, brushing some grime from it. "I don't know who is behind these terrible murders, or the Trollocs that are coming soon. I know it's not me, but how can I make any of you believe that? Before we start flinging accusations at people, perhaps those with information should come forward so that everyone can have a reasonable discussion about this, rather than acting on emotion." She snapped a finger suddenly, looking back up. "Hey, since I'm mayor, can I just make murder without trial illegal? No? Well, then lets just do the other thing I said." ---- Since the accusation came in RP, I thought it best to respond in RP. I mean everything in it; I don't know as much as many other people claim they do. I may have been on the Strategic Council Thing, but everyone on there held back more than they gave, from what I could see. Considering who died last night - two of our most valuable roles - it can be safe to say that either the people who knew of them are behind it, or that there is a leak among those they trusted. The only one I know who knew who they were was Waes, although Wilson and Aonar may have as well. I'm not saying any of them are guilty, and Aonar, as far as I've heard, has been confirmed trustworthy. Another thing to consider, however - there have been TWO fireballs now. One that killed Padan Fain, and one that killed an innocent villager. We've been working on the assumption that the first was a Darkfriend who got lucky, but have we considered that maybe it wasn't? Maybe, somehow, a village channeler figured something out and did the deed. And perhaps last night, the Darkfriends wasted their only Fireball on an innocent hoping they were someone more powerful? Any proof for this? Not a bit. But I think it's something worth considering.- 503 replies

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Shivertongue replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"Blood and ashes," Khamsi muttered to herself as she stood at the common room's fireplace. She sloshed the glass of brandy in her hand for a moment before draining it in a single swallow. The smooth burn dulled the lingering pain from the horse's kick earlier, although despite Rishi's attempts to mix up a salve the bruise still remained. "Blood and bloody ashes," she scowled into the empty glass, and was tempted to hurl it into the fire. Wisdom got the better of her, however, and she held onto it. For one thing, it could be refilled. She fell into a chair and held out her glass. Rishi appeard almost from nowhere, pouring from the bottle until the glass was full again. Khamsi held off on taking another drink, instead swirling the dark brown liquid, her eyes locked on the fire. "I was so sure," she said, sighing. "Bloody buttered onions on a sarsa I was certain that horse was evil. But no... it seems my first act as mayor is to attempt to hang a horse." She snickered a bit, the sideways innuendo tickling her drowning mind. She took a drink. "That shounds like a shtory, dontcha think it shounds like a shot- a shrot- a shtory?" "Mistress-" "It does!" Khamsi said, bolting to her feet and startling the poor girl. "It shounds like a hilarious shtory!" She drained her glass, then ran unsteadily to the bar, grabbing an unused ledger as well as pen and ink. Moments later, Khamsi was giggling to herself as she wrote frantically, her face covered in small ink smudges. ------ The mayor thing began as just a funny RP post while I was chatting with Wilson, and the first line came to me. Then she gave me a reply from Witless, and I thought it was too good to just let go. The main reason I play these games is as an excuse to come up with fun and entertaining characters to roleplay and write for. I had no idea anyone would vote for me. xD- 503 replies

Working on another post, but just want to say that I absolutely adore Korb, and considering how Zeith tends to get along with the nobles of most cities, there's a decent chance he and Korb have met before. And considering how Zeith tends to get along with the nobles of most cities, there's a good chance that meeting was not pleasant. xD

Zeith did have only one pursuer when he was knocked into the bar, but Zeith has apparently pissed off every sslyssin (lizardmen) in the city. Zeith is good at that.

Long Game 6: Daes Dae'Mar, The Great Game
Shivertongue replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, crap. I was sure about that one. And the storming horse kicked me! ...wait. Hold up. Making a faulty deduction means I'm now evil? By this logic, anyone who has accused anyone else who turned out to be innocent is evil as well. I analyzed the situation, saw a pattern and saw inconsistencies, and felt I had made a logical deduction. I stated my decision, and other people thought it made sense and went with it. There was an equal probability that I would have been seen as tilting at a windmill, and votes would have gone elsewhere. And it turned out I was wrong. It happens. Without access to pure, concrete evidence, everything we do - unless you have a role that tells you exactly what you need to know - has a margin of error and the possibility to be wrong. I made the most logical decision I could, with the information that I had. It probably would have helped as well if the horse had put up a defense...- 503 replies
