Yes.  We see Hoid using it during his conversation with Lin Davar during Shallan's Hoid flashback.  This is one of the advantages of allomancy.  Your location does not mater and the metal is not particularly expensive(compared to breath or stormlight on another world).

If you read carefully as he leaves you can also tell he is burning pewter.

I agree with Mist, it's probably just parallel technological evolution, but I believe it has been theorized that the Ones Above might be Iriali, though I personally still think they are Scadrians from the far future.

Its also possible that it could be Scadrians with Rosharan technology, as there really are no limits on where the Ones Above have gone or how long they have had FTL.

  3. You could put 2 pieces of metal behind you on the ground, thus pushing yourself up and towards the wall. and using the wall to hold steady, but I really dont see any practical application that his would have over using a third piece of metal to make a tripod like balance.

  4. We know that Roshar was grown by Adonalsium himself, (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/131-general-reddit-2016/#e3952)  and the patterns of the Dawncities very well can be a natural effect of the process that he used to create the landmass. It seems that the Windblades were simply part of this process. (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/358-fanx-2018/#e10715). Humanity may have searched out these places because of the added protection that they added. They might have been transformed, or affected in some other way at a latter date. Similarly they would have added the Oathgates after ect. I assume that the patterns of the cities also has a connection to the fact that the singers were the original inhabitants of Roshar, and they can hear the songs, and rhythmic patterns.

But what about linked gems. Could charging one charge the other? It's never been mentioned, but then has it been attempted while the are connected?

You would have to place one out in the highstorm, or be a Knight Radiant. I don't know if it would go through though.

Now that I'm thinking about it, do they put the whole spanreed out in a storm, just the gem or something?

It would be unfortunate to get all your spanreed gems mixed up.

I forget - do infused gems "run down" if not used, or is the Stormlight in them good forever until used? If they'd last until at least used once, you could still do a paired spanreed gem trick for a one-time throw of a trap door or mechanism that nobody would be expecting.

Yes. Infused Gems run down. These is why you have to change the spheres in the lanterns. Spheres go dun after a couple of weeks.

    Oathbringer Spoilers

    Spoiler

That's why stormlight is so rare at the beginning of Oathbringer. The highstorms haven't come for weeks and the spheres are all running low.

There are perfect gems that don't get run down though. The King's Drop is one of them.

I wonder if it could be Ashertmann.  Giving in to vice.  Shallan's father gives in to his anger, Balat to torturing small animals, Jushu to gambling, etc.

I forgot about Ashertmarn. That would make perfect sense.

  8. I doubt that it was Ba-Ado-Mishram.

I think the Chemoarish is the best candidate because it just seems something Brandon would do, placing an Unmade pretty much in plain sight, and then reveal it four-five books later. It could be Dai-Gonarthis though.
