  1. So, In other words, Odium is the paragon of internet trolls.
  2. I think this hinges on whether Dalinar chooses to access With it, I think Blackthorn Dalinar has an edge. Assuming Dalinar is still trying to be good, then I would give this one to Ham, because Dalinar is getting old and stormlight won't do him that much good if he can't use it to win. Next: The most dangerous game. An average, Final Empire mistborn is stranded on Patji, with a trapper hunting them. The mistborn is trying to survive for 24 hours without being caught by the trapper or killed by the island. The mistborn has 4 hours' worth of the basic 10 metals, minus bronze, atium, and gold but no Atium, and has had no preparation for being on the island. Assumptions about the types of investiture mixing with each other: Copper can protect the mistborn from being tracked by some of the wildlife, similar to the way some Aviar can. However, this type of Aviar being used by the trapper to hide his mind, also protects him from emotional allomancy. Feel free to add any details I may have missed to make this work.
  3. I would assume that if Odium is defeated on Roshar, he would find some way to retreat until he can try something again. Either going someplace else to wreck havoc there, or laying low until he has another go at Cultivation (if she's still around) I've thought that Odium would be inclined to try something on Scadrial. Since his goal appears to be becoming the most powerful being the cosmere (without taking up any more shards), he can't be too happy about Sazed holding both Ruin and Preservation.
  4. I know this post is about Szeth, but do we know enough about Dakhor (or others of the more vague magic sydtems) to be able to make that kind of generalization? It seems to me that with enough bodies to sacrifice, someone like Dilaf could have had any number of counters to TLR's abilities built in to his bones.
  5. I think this is possible, but it raises some other questions, I think. Does a radiant have to have spoken the third ideal before they can have squires? I think this would fit with your theory, since Kaladin had spoken the third ideal before Lopen could use stormlight and it is one possible explanation why I think it also fits this theory that
  6. I agree that I can't stand Jasnah as a character. She falls into the trope of the princess who believes she is infallible, and is going to singlehandedly save everyone she cares about. Except, she doesn't appear to actually care about anyone, and has no character development. I guess it at least a big contrast from the way Vivenna and Sarene seem to learn from their mistakes.
  7. @Lanny I haven't been brave enough to try Wheel of Time, yet. I was warned away from it, but then again, that was before it ended. I should give it a try. I totally understand about people having different tastes, though. My wife has read Sanderson, and can't quite place why she doesn't like his books as much as I do.
  8. @Lanny Most of the time I'm able to finish the series, because I get into the stories, but some of them I got really sick of, just because the writing style of the author started to bug me, usually because I notice that they constantly, redundantly describe something the same way, or I get sick of their preferred style of metaphor. Some examples are the Codex Alera, by Jim Butcher, or the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini. I tend to be a marathon reader if all the books are out, so maybe It's a side effect of reading too much of something in a short time. R. A. Salvatore used to be my favorite author, but in his case, I think I just grew out of his books. I've decided that most of his characters tend to be pretty one-dimensional, and I can't just read another extremely detailed, yet fairly generic fight. This is a case where I haven't actually been able to finish a series because I just don't even care what happens in the story anymore.
  9. Honestly, the entire dynamic of Bridge Four is really cool. I'm impressed with the way they all constantly support each other It kind of reminds me more of a well-organized and tight-knit scout patrol than a military unit.
  10. Thanks! Picking a favorite is a tough one, though. I really like the developing Cosmere story as a whole. If I had to pick a favorite book on its own, I think I'll say the Rithmatist for now, though.
  11. I've been a Sanderson fan for a while. I was introduced to Elantris and The Way of Kings a few years ago by my brother-in-law and so far haven't found a book I don't like, which is saying something, since there are several series now (by various other writers) that I've come to hate by the time I was halfway through the last book (or sooner). I figure that this looks like a good place to confirm whatever easter-eggs, cameos, or other surprises I find while I read, as well as catch up on whatever theories there are. So, here I am, I guess.
