(OB) Most Disliked Stormlight Character
N006+ard4life replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I know I'm in the minority here, but I just don't like Kaladin. I dread dread dread reading his chapters. I don't like being in his head. And while I can understand a lot of what he's going through, I don't like reading him. -
*raises hand from the center of the party* MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

[OB] Write a scene for the one year gap
N006+ard4life replied to aemetha's topic in Stormlight Archive
I’m terrible at writing and this may be borderline fanfiction/soap opera, but maybe someone can put my thoughts into a short story. So here’s the gist: Shallan/Radiant is happily married to Adolin, but Veil isn’t. Veil still swoons and crushes on Kaladin whenever he’s around. Veil and Kaladin have an affair. Shallan, feeling extremely guilty confesses to Adolin what happened. Adolin, being Adolin is extremely hurt and angry at first, but still loves Shallan, so he forgives her. But then, bum bum BUM, Shallan is pregnant. Adolin says that no matter what, whether the child is biologically his or Kaladin’s, he will raise it as his own. But then the twist, the baby is born without a spec of blond hair, and one light eye, and one dark eye. If someone wants to run with this, feel free! -
How is Dahn determined? and what do they mean?
N006+ard4life replied to Stormblessed Dolphin's topic in Stormlight Archive
The only bit about Nahn that I know is the right of travel for 1st and 2nd... It isn't really explored much. I'm brown eyed as well and the Nahn and Dahn system's have fascinated me too -

Dahn is for Lighteyes, Nahn is for Darkeyes, both have 10 levels and I believe it’s birth based. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong. I believe 1st and 2nd Nahn have the right of travel, and I think Lirin (Kaladin’s father) is 2nd Nahn. Kaladin is now 4th Dahn, since he’s a shardbearer. 1st Dahn would be Elhokar and his heir. 2nd Dahn would be the Highprinces and their heir (Dalinar and Adolin) 3rd Dahn would be children of Highprinces that aren’t heirs (Renarin). Shallan would have been 5th Dahn, but because she’s a shardbearer she’s now 4th. Anything below 6th Dahn, I believe can’t be landowners. -
I was really hoping that my copy would be here tomorrow. I preordered it from Amazon but I'm too cheap to have Prime, and 2 day shipping was over $12. I'm too cheap for that too so I picked 4-5 day shipping. I won't have it in hand until the 20th! :'(

Not fast at all, and if I'm honest with myself, it will probably take me at least a month to read.

HAHAHA!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I liked him in the first book but wasn't overly attached to him, then he got all moody and emo in the second and I just couldn't stand him any more.

I have this same problem! I finally got my sister to read Mistborn after 2 years.... WoK took even longer! I've told co-workers, friends, anyone who will listen. They seem to be intimidated by how thick the book is.

Who is your favourite character in SA?
N006+ard4life replied to missionaryofgod's topic in Stormlight Archive
I feel like I'm a bit late to this party, but oh well. Adolin is by far my favorite, and Dalinar is a close second. Not a fan of Kaladin, he kind of annoys me. I'm a bit torn on Shallan, sometimes I love her and other times I hate her. I'm starting to like Jasnah and Renarin, the rest are just kind of meh. -
Loveable Characters you actually don't care about....

I don't care for Kaladin either... I thought I was the only one that didn't like the guy. -
I really hope this happens.

Brandon Tweaking Words Of Radiance
N006+ard4life replied to Kelsier Kenobi's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm not so sure I care for the new ending... I have to agree with you, it does smell of suicide. I honestly didn't have any problem with Kaladin killing Szeth, I didn't see it as vengeance, I saw it as him protecting those he's vowed to protect. -
I think that in the Parshendi case their armor isn't exactly an exoskeleton, but just their skin. So it wouldn't be cut away. I could be wrong though, I don't have the book in front of me to search for any evidence.

There are Knights Radiant orders that will look at what Adolin did have no problem with it. Like the Dustbringers for example. Most people will see it as murder but that won't matter to the Dustbringers. They'll see it as justice (kill one to save a thousand kind of deal). I think he still has a chance to be a radiant, in fact I'd like to see him become one, and not just because he's my favorite character

What Is So Special About The Kholin Family?
N006+ard4life replied to ZxlinkxZ's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm really curious as to what broke Renarin and Jasnah. I've read countless times that Adolin can't be a surgebinder because he hasn't been broken due to his life as a prince. Renarin has also had a pretty plush life as far as we know, so what broke him? -
I apologize if this has already been discussed, I looked around and couldn't find it. Anyway I have a couple of questions about Mare and Kelsier. First, why was Mare even sent to the Pits? I thought the use of allomancy around the atium geodes destroyed them. TLR knew Mare was an allomancer, so why would he chance sending her to the Pits? Second, how did Kelsier go through life never snapping until he's at the Pits? Kelsier and Marsh were raised noble, and Elend said the nobility had their children beaten. Even if they were illegitimate I would think their father would have had them beaten. Just a thought.
