  1. Two things I haven't seen brought up yet.

    1. Sigzil notes that he had to take 'a crash course on tectonic plates' once he started world hopping, implying roshar has no tectonic plates, which seems like an odd detail. I remember an theory from awhile ago (can't find it now of course <_<) about the entire continent of roshar essentially being just one giant floating island, maybe even living creature like the island cities of the reshi isles but to an incredible scale, which would also help explain the rhythms as heartbeat/emotions of the creature. I don't think it's very likely but it is interesting.

    2. The word 'Whimsy' was used in a strange way. I don't know I this means anything, but could potentially hint at Whimsy being behind such a strange planet.

  2. Ok three things stood out to me.
“Surgebinding savant” got mentioned. I doubt Shallan knows what one of those is or if it’s even possible but I think it was a nice little tickle for us.

Nomon was referred to as “honors moon” by Venli. This is more support for the honors perpendicularity theory that was floating around awhile ago.

And finally, Lift doesn’t actually use stormlight. Very interesting and we probably could have guessed that, but it’s whatever. So that makes me think that they will have too infuse stormlight and (growthlight?) cultivation’s light into the sibling

  3. I think they’re just super powerful fabriales, because of how aimia is defended. From the chapter we have there, we know there are huge soulcasted rocks. So maybe one of them is an incredible soulcaster. Although I am not remembering that aimia was renown for their soulcasters...so idk

I don't think so, seeing as I've gotten the implication that he was named Truthless because he said he was bonding a spren. But could the Shin have access to a diffferent magic system? The phrasing there makes it sound like he's listing the Shin as equivalent to the Knights Radiant and the Voidbringers.

He says he was made truthless because he "raised the alarm" that the voidbringers were coming back.

  5. “The voidbringers are no more. The knights radiant are no more. We are all that remain.” This is from szeth thinking on the tower in WOR

could this mean radiants are still around in shinovar? It could just be talking about the honor blades, but this feels different to me.

  6. So I’ve been thinking about all that we’ve seen stormlight do, and I got curios about what storm light could potentially do.

It can heal eyesight (renarin), it can heal shardblade cuts, broken bones, arrows through the face, burns away toxins, helps with the cold, and they don’t need to breath when holding.

So what else can it do? It’s said that the best way to kill a radiant is decapitation, or a shard slice through the spine.

But could it help with dehydration? Could it help with starvation and other stuff like bad eyesight, for example, bad hearing? And how does it determine what needs to be healed? If someone is born without a finger would it grow a new one? Or what if someone was born with an extra finger? Would the stormlight remove it?

i would love to hear your thoughts on this.

P.S. why did it heal renarins eyesight? Wouldn’t it be like kaladins scares, or rysns legs?

  7. Well what if the radiants were trying to make more oathgates? or maybe not all of the radiants were on the same side, or maybe just someone from Iri who wanted another oathgate, and who knew about them stole it, or maybe it was a worldhopper trying to get off world. My point is that there are lots of possibilities of how this could work.

You wouldn't have to attract the oath gate spren. When Odium tried to steal the Oathgate in OB, he targeted the gemstones, which the spren reside in. So while difficult to steal the entire gate, you could steal the gemstones and rebuild the gate. That said, I very much doubt the people at the time would have the knowledge to know to tear the gate apart for the gemstones, or the knowledge of how to rebuild the gate, in which case why bother?

I would actually make the argument that they had MORE knowledge about these things then they have in modern times, because remember, they had hundreds of radiants, and probably a bunch of elsecallers that were doing research in the cognitive realm. They also had Honor around.

She says that because that's how old she was when she visited the Nightwatcher and it happened three years ago. Hence she considers herself to still be ten because up until Edgedancer she assumed that she'd gotten her wish and wasn't aging any more. Her freaking out over suddenly having a period doesn't make sense if she's older than we've been led to think. Also, the text and Brandon have both stated that she's really thirteen, so it's pretty well established how old she is in absolute terms.

Well in that case, never mind. Thank you for pointing this out to me.

  10. I've had a theory floating around for a little while, and it is that Lift is actually a lot older then she looks, and her curse is seeing her loved ones fade away. for a few reasons:

    1. When she says shes 10, she says shes been 10 for more then one year. Granted this could just be Lift being Lift.

    2. When she says her mother died, she says everyone dies in a way that seems almost uncaring, at first I thought she was murdered, but what if she died from old age?

    3. She had a lot of street knowledge, and seems to have been to a lot of the world.

    4. She seems very surprised to find that shes growing.

Maybe these reasons are weaker then I thought they would be. But it also makes sense she would start growing around the same time Dalinar gets his memories back, because it was finally time to grow.

  11. I think it's the other way around, cause like, how do you go about stealing an entire flipping oathgate? sneak in at night? I think instead they captured one of the spren, and were maybe trying to make a brand new platform. They might have only taken one spren, and figured that it might work with only one spren (But I'm pretty sure one oathgate spren lets people enter, and one helps people exit, so for this they got the one that helps enter) so presumably they tested the oathgate, but because they only had one spren, and nothing to help them exit, they got stuck.

As to how they captured the spren, I'm pretty sure they could just use a big gemstone, like trapping an unmande.
