  1. Hello, everyone! I've been invited to an indev project to create the Cosmere in Minecraft! Sadly no server exists at the moment, but there IS a discord page where the project is just starting! Updates will be posted! The discord page for the upcoming server: https://discord.gg/edn3hPj
  2. We'll have to add that to the list of questions to ask Brandon.
  3. As I posted it, I started to. And then I realized that I hadn't actually written it out on this site. I wrote it up and posted it, here's the link. Feel free to submit any ideas! Edit: And of course, in my excitement, I still forgot the link. Here it is for REAL this time.
  4. I'm just going to do away with the spoilers box here, because it would literally contain everything after this sentence throughout the entire thread. This is a question of theory validity. I have evidence to back it up, but I want to see whether or not it's at all realistic. There are also a few things that I'm not quite sure how they would line up. I'll just dive straight into it: Shardblades and Shardplate are made of aluminum. I know it might sound ridiculous, or maybe just random, but there is some evidence to back it up. In mistborn era two, it becomes very obvious that aluminum is an investiture block. People wearing aluminum can't be manipulated emotionally, and, more importantly to this theory, aluminum can't be pushed or pulled on. This is so important because the surge of gravitation is so similar to the external physical metals. Now, if aluminum can't be pushed or pulled, and is similar to gravitation, it would stand to reason that gravitation would not affect aluminum either. Now, in Oathbringer, we have evidence of Szeth's claim, very early on in the series, that shardplate can't be lashed. When the Fused are carrying of Moash's plate, they have to carry it by two ropes instead of lashing it directly. This suggests, separate to what happens in Words of Radiance, which is an entirely separate matter, albeit which also supports this theory, that lashings simply don't work on shardplate. There must be a connection of some sort. Then there are two pieces of evidence to be found in Words of Radiance, as well. The first is to be found when Kaladin and the other bridgemen are training with and against shardblades under Zahel, they comment that it is heavier than they expected, and Zahel explains that while it is much heavier than what others may have implied, it is still much lighter than a sword of it's size should be. He says that a sword that looks like it has two or three times as much steel in it would be heavier, not lighter. Therein lies the reason. Shardblades are so light because they are not made of steel at all, but rather out of a tempered form of aluminum. The second is during Adolin's disadvantage duel, when Kaladin, after making use of the shardplate helm as a glove for blocking blades, it 'eats' his stormlight. Kaladin lurches to a halt when he suddenly finds it gone. This is extremely similar to the occurrence in Mistborn: The Final Empire, when Vin is forced to burn a nugget of aluminum. She finds her investiture has vanished, similar to the realization that Kaladin comes to in this scene. In both cases, the evidence shows that aluminum drains investiture into itself. If shardplate can also accomplish it, there is a possibility that it is due to it's nature as aluminum, not because it needs it to perform self-repair. What I still don't understand, however, is how plate and blades can have effects using investiture, despite blocking it. It might have something to do with the fact that Aluminum can be used for feruchemy, which is another bit that I don't understand. If anyone has any ideas about this, please let me know. I'd love to have a full theory with solid evidence on all sides to get a WoB on this one.
  5. See my theory about the reason why shardplate and shardblades are so light. And no, it's not because Edit: This is probably a thread necro, but I don't really care. I had something I wanted to add, really badly, so I did.
  6. Hardcover version (does it make a difference that I was pre-ordering it in the US?), in the table of contents, it says book two instead of book three.
  7. 261: In the event that (one of) the main characters is killed, run. If the villain was powerful enough to kill them, you are screwed.
  8. Granted. You learn how to create cold fusion. You immediately attempt to create cold fusion, and succeed. However, what you didn't learn is that creating cold fusion between any two atoms would release enough explosive energy to destroy the universe. You blow yourself, and everyone else in existence, to smithereens. I wish to instantly know if someone is lying to me.
  9. I'll have to admit, that is possible, although I'm not very much onboard with that theory. I actually am not all that familiar with the Sons of Honor. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't they trying to bring about the desolations in hopes that the Radiants will also return? My more likely theory is that all of those Blades just didn't exist. If you remember, when Kaladin "killed" Syl, he didn't make her into a blade first, causing a "deadblade". (Terms in quotations are terminology that I am unsure of.) It is very possible (and I think likely) that many of the Radiants "killed" their spren without forming blades.
  10. Granted, but you must eat all of it today. (You have been cursed with a paradox) Edit: I wish for sarcasm to cease to exist.
  11. Uhh I don't know what this means. Granted, but the resulting number is divided by zero. I wish for the ability to make people say anything I want. Oh, wait. Never mind. I can already do that. See: I wish for no one to fact check anything said by me, and just assume that it is true.
  12. I don't want just any Elsecaller blade, I want Adolin's shardblade in particular. That project looks really cool, but I don't need tips. I was just wondering if anyone had a premade plan. I'll make one myself and post it up later for anyone else who wants it.
  13. Granted, but the doll is super creepy, and no one else can hear it, so everyone thinks you are crazy. And the doll gives terrible advice. I wish to die for one week, go to whatever afterlife is real, and then come back to life.
  14. Granted, but every time you try to use some of it, it spills on you, and as soon as it touches you it dries. There is also no way to unglue anything once it has been glued by this glue. I wish to be able to do whatever I want with no negative consequences, for me or anyone else.
  15. This discussion has gone a lot farther than I intended it to go. I actually didn't know this much about investiture, nahel bonds, etc., and so I didn't want to get into that. However, everyone here has done a wonderful job explaining, and I actually have learned quite a bit! Thanks for all the input on this.
  16. 219: In case you ignored rule number 2 and are in any sort of suspicious place (IE a dark forest, abandoned city or temple, monster cave, other cave, etc.), do not lie to your mentor/friend/anyone at all really who asks if you took anything. 220: Be the protagonist. While you may have some emotional damage by the end of the story, you will very likely remain alive. 221: In the event that you are far from home, and your main storyline is about you getting back home, do not stop for ANYTHING.
  17. Granted, but you will never again be in a situation where you need it. I wish for a personal minion who will do whatever I say. (I'm interested to hear the hilariousness of this, I will upvote whoever replies if it's good)
  18. Granted. However, everyone else in the world also gets magic powers, so you aren't special. I wish for all the time in the world. (Literally, I wish to have legal ownership rights for all of the time that ever has or will pass, ever)
  19. Granted. You will always know both what time it currently is, and how long before you die. I wish for an Honorspren to bond. Shoot. I keep accidentally commenting on the end of the last page. Ignore the granted part, as it was for the last wish on page 193.
  20. Thanks! I had a couple ideas, but Edgedancer was, I'll admit, pretty low on the list. I personally was hoping for Windrunner, because I really like their order in particular. I now stand corrected.
  21. Based on the last few chapters of Oathbringer, in which Adolin learns his shardblade's name (Mayalaran) and actually manages to bypass the ten heartbeats in order to summon the blade, I have come to the (potentially incorrect) conclusion that Adolin is very close to "reviving" Mayalaran, similarly to how Kaladin "revived" Syl in Words of Radiance. If and when Adolin "revives" Mayalaran, what type of spren will Mayalaran be? What order will Adolin wind up as? I personally think that Adolin will either be a Willshaper or Stoneward (only because these two orders are currently unrepresented in the stormlgiht archive,) or a Windrunner, due to his (somewhat hidden) emotional connection to Kaladin. While Renarin is a member of bridge four, one could argue, based on certain events in Words of Radiance, that Adolin is actually more attatched to Kaladin then Renarin is. I say this because after Adolin's disadvantage duel, where Kaladin jumps in to help and winds up in jail, Adolin demands for him to be let out, and, when he fails, resorts to locking himself up with Kaladin next door, saying that Kaladin hadn't done anything that he hadn't done. This is also in line with Windrunner oaths, although one could argue that it is more similar to something an Edgedancer would do. Please reply with your own personal theories, or even hopes, for what order Adolin will wind up as.
  22. Kelsier, becoming angry, whacked Storm with the same pan he had previously used to whack Shalash.
  23. Granted. However, no one will ever upvote your own comments as all the upvotes will be directed towards @Zath. I wish for infinite knowledge.
  24. Granted. Everyone else you know ninjas you. I wish for a ridiculous one-time bane that will not kill me and will be hilarious looking back on my life.
  25. Thank you. Also, what's my bane? While it was a serious request, I wanted it to somewhat follow the base guidelines of this thread.
