I don't know if anyone thought of this before, but I'm new here and after reading OB I started thinking about this:
As I understand, a spren bonded to you is able to take up any form of weapon that you prefer (I.e. a spear instead of a sword for Kaladin). So a theory I have is what if your weapon of choice is a bow and arrow? Can you not ask/will your spren to become a arrow and use it with a ordinary bow?
That would basically give you a infinitely sharp arrow that can pierce through rock and armor like nothing, and after it hits a target you can dismiss your spren and summon it again in your hands, essentially giving you infinite ammo. Combine this with flying (i.e Windrunner) where it allows you to keep out of melee range, I think it would make for a pretty strong combination. And then if the fight gets up close and personal, you can always summon your spren as a ordinary blade again.
As I understand it stormlight does not give you superhuman strength, shardplate, however, does increase strength. So if you combine shardplate and shardbow with a massive spren arrow, it will allow you to kill multiple enemies miles away with every single arrow you fire even through walls or buildings, and you don't have to worry about penetration drop off over range nor about carrying extra ammo. EDIT: And, no spoilers, a large ballista type seige weapon and a shard bolt to match it might even be able to take down "larger" enemies from a safe distance. (But this could maybe also be accomplished by just lashing a shard spear a couple of times toward your target, if that's even possible)
I was just wondering if canon would allow for this.
