  1. "Ialai, I apologize for overlooking an entry on you.... Ialai -- I have been told the results of item and action spies on Ialai relatively recently, and did not see anything unusual. Beyond that, I have had much communication with her the entire game about our actions and so forth. And beyond that, 2-3 of the last several turns we have been trying to work together on her wincon. So she has good alibis for the last couple turns. Based on all of this, I am sure it is understandable that I forgot you existed Ialai, it is not like I have had anything to do with you since the game began or anything... :P" @SE_Kelek, @SE_Navani_Kholin, an issue I have is that in their own lists, people just claim they are trustworthy. I would much prefer people give reasons as to why they are trustworthy.
  2. Just to add on to what Adolin said, in the 6 turns I was outside the palace, I didn't have actions available to me each turn. I mentioned to a few of you the 50% attack option I had (which for the people just learning this, no I didnt use it). That was after a couple turns of having no action available. So I think that was the reason. It is also difficult to successfully vote on an aggressive action. Most of the actions available seem to augment actions inside the palace rather than doing things themselves, though it is possible she happened to land on a turn when she had a kill action. Though I doubt it has a higher chance than her actual attack ability. I completely forgot I was roleblocked that turn... I assumed Wit did it... Navani, you even knew I was just trying to item spy you that turn for my wincon. : / Though I managed to complete it while I was ostracized... So I guess no harm done...
  3. Um, if someone murders Queen Jasnah, will someone pick up my contract with her? Adolin, or Navani perhaps? (the only other living Kholins...) Or Ialai? Wait, if all of the Kholins die, which seems possible at this point, would Ialai become queen?
  4. If anything, wouldn't Nale break immediately, causing the desolation to happen immediately, instead of being held off for a couple more years by Taln?
  5. With 25 starting players, there are 13 left alive. This means 52% of total players are alive right now. If one more dies, that percentage goes down to 48%. So a minority of total players would be alive. And canonically, they were working against the desolation... Well, all except Venli, but she wasn't either at this point in the story.
  6. What a great feast this has been, Liss thought. This was supposed to be a treaty signing. Yet so far, the King, half of his family, and 1 of the parshendi had been murdered, another had been ostracised, and the third... Liss hadn't heard or seen the third in quite some time. Hopefully he was okay. Regardless, if Elhokar wanted to keep the treaty with them, he had a lot of work left to do. Dresses were horrible things. In the fighting that happened earlier, it got in her way, slowing her down. It unfortunately was necessary, but she made a mental note to, in the future, have one made that could be torn off at a moments notice. It would get quite warm wearing two layers of clothes, but it was a price worth paying for the better mobility in these situations.
  7. Had they done it? Liss then saw Thara's body collapse onto the floor. No, not another death... Not Thara. Liss raced over the fabrial, and put her fingers on Thara's wrist. She couldn't feel a heartbeat. She felt at Thara's neck instead... Still no heartbeat. Thara was probably the only person at this feast she cared about to some extent. Liss was even planning on offering her a job with Liss. After tonight she didn't think Thara could handle working in this castle any longer. But she was too late. Another death, and this was all because Liss lied to everyone here about lying. Liss took a deep breath. Time to move on. In that moment, liss forgot about Thara, Aesudan, and the death. She needed to focus on what she needed to do.
  8. There were several differant things happening all at once, and Liss didn't know what to prioritize her attention on. Even with Jasnah having somehow escaped from Nalan while everyone's back was turned, his words still established him as a threat. Liss could not ignore such a threat. "Nalan, if niether of us move from this space, neither of us will have an issue with each other. Therefore, that is what I suggest. After all, we don't want to start dueling with shardblades in the middle of an unprotected crowd." She then heard Ialai talk of gliph wards. But Liss barely listened. "Oh, great idea. Would you like for an Ardent to be fetched as well so they can do it for you? I could do that, just hopefully Nalan, here, won't just start killing everyone while I am gone..." Liss added in an undertone, "burning gliphs hasnt helped any of the people I killed..." Oh yeah, and then there were all the minor nobles and lighteyes all clawing at each other trying to become Elhokar's new bride. Then 3 people stepped in who had an actual swords. After one decapitation, everyone else backed away, so now there were only 3 people fighting.
  9. Liss peaked her head around the corner to see what was going on and shouted across the hall, "Well, I have paper and pencil, but I don't know where you would find any info on the Unmade" Liss swiveled her head quickly to see that Nalan still hadn't moved. "Perhaps from some of the... More reasonable heralds?" Liss carefully tore out all of the pages she could find with info of the weeper's contracts on them, and slid the rest of the notebook towards Navani. She didn't move from her spot though, and went straight back to staring at Nalan, waiting for him to either say something or make the first move. At least the rest of the people in the hall had yet to notice that a servant girl had a shardblade. That would throw a wrench in things.
  10. *Liss coughs loudly to draw attention*, "Oh just-merciful-herald-brightlord-sir, I think you must have some mistake. First, I can't tell if you keep calling Jasnah a herald, or if you are talking to yourself. Either way, mistaken identity or mistaken... something. Second, you tell her to go peacefully, but the sentence her to death? And third, the death of a random person will not protect the kingdom. You call yourself the herald of justice, yet there is no trial! At least the kings of Alethkar have trials, even biased ones though they are. "Do you not think it better of both of our time to find the other people responsible for Gavilar's death? It probably took at least 2 people..." With that, Liss' shardblade appeared at her side. She rammed it into the wall behind her. And leaned her shoulder casually on the protruding hilt, ready to pull it free and fight at a moment's notice.
  11. Liss turned the corner and saw two people with shardblades in their hands. A rather strange one carried by the person who she thought to be Nalan, the other being Jasnah. When did Jasnah get a shardblade? Good for her! Liss always knew she liked that woman. As Jasnah didn't seem to need Liss' help and was trying to talk instead of fight, Liss reached her hand out as if to summon her blade but didn't. and she waited in case she was needed.
  12. Liss was shaken, definitly shaken. But, it wasn't like this hadn't happened before. "pull yourself together Liss, You've been through worse". She wasn't sure that she had, but she had to tell herself that. She couldn't dwell on anything, resume life, do her job. Liss took a deep breath, and opened her eyes to see dark figure hurriedly move towards where Jasnah's voice had just been. Wait, was that... Nalan? The herald of justice? It definitely was... maybe. Liss wasn't sure. If it wasn't, it could be an ally of Aesudan's, or worse yet, the black smoke. Liss knew Jasnah could defend herself, but a soulcaster wouldn't work against a shardblade, and anyone planning on assasinating nobility would have a shardblade. if it was Nalan, then he would surely know Jasnah was on his side. And there might be in interesting conversation to eavesdrop on. Either way, she should follow him. If only someone hadn't taken her cloak from when she was ostracized. She probably could have been much more stealthy. But cloak or no cloak, she needed to follow.
  13. I was refering to Jasnah when I referenced the person in shadesmar with a living shardblade. However, in the books, the charecters couldn't summon their shardblades (living or otherwise) in shadesmar, which is why I think (if your guess is correct), we will need the Honor Blade. My assumption is that it will still be a blade in shadesmar.
  14. I feel like probably only either a shardblade, or living shardblade would be able to deal damage to an unmade (As that is what it took to attack a spren). We do technically have someone with a living shardblade in shadesmar (in a sense), but I doubt they can summon it (as they are in shadesmar). That would mean that (assuming a regular shardblade wouldn't work) we need an honor blade. Which we know Szeth had before his death.
  15. After Szeth's death, Liss had been on edge. She had been keeping an eye out for more attacks, but this she didn't anticipate. She saw a shardblade form out of the corner of her eye, Was this another assassination attempt? Liss could hear her own heart beating loudly and quickly in her ear. One... Liss turned towards the shardblade and saw Tearim charging with his own down the hall. Two... She was the entire rooms length away, she raced towards the others anyway. Three... Four... At this point in the night, what good was it keeping secret who she was? If she couldn't protect her employer and their interests, it wouldn't matter. Five... Six... Liss had already failed Jasnah so far tonight. Liss' entire job was to keep an eye on Aesudan in case she tried something like this. She had killed Gavilar and Renarin. Both people Liss was responsible for. Seven... This death, no, all the death's tonight, they were all Liss' fault. Eight... Sure it was Tearim's job, but he didn't have the same training that Liss did. Mist started to solidify around her hand. Nine... Liss saw Adolin strike down Aesudan, and... Something else? A smoke. No. A Shadow. No. A... Ten. A shardblade solidified in Liss' hands as she stopped suddenly, just standing in place. She didn't understand what was going on. She had prepared herself for many obstacles she may face in her lifetime. However a desolation wasn't one of them. The heralds had saved them... Right? She looked around the room, noticing faces she had overlooked before. faces that, sort of, looked similar to some of the paintings she had seen in the art gallery. No. This couldn't be happening. Liss fell to her knees, reeling at what she had seen. She dropped her shardblade which fell a few inches before promptly vanishing. But it was too late. She had already summoned it, and people would have seen. She heard Jasnah's voice ringing through the crowd, but couldn't understand what she said.
  16. Liss handed over the paper, still folded up to Aesudan. Just reading it, the note in of itself would not connect the Weeper to her. "May I fetch you anything in the mean time? I see you have run oit of violet wine?".
  17. Liss jumped when she heard someone speak behind her, "What was that note you swiped off uncle Dalinar's table?", Liss turned toward Aesudan, it would be bad etiquette to run, and she had already been thrown out once tonight. Anyway, she was in a servant's corridor, the only place she could run was farther down, towards more people. She pulled out the crumpled note, noticing that her dress was now stained with violet wine. She unfolded it slightly with the words facing away from Aesudan. She was relieved to see that a couple words were unreadable due to the wine, but just from glancing, she wasn't sure if that would necessarily help. "Brightlady, it is just paper covered with wine. I figured that whoever's this is, would not wish to have something such as this at their seat. So I am going to get rid of it so that it is in no ones way..." Liss hoped that Aesudan wouldn't ask to see the note. If she did, Liss would either have to run, or show it to her. Was Aesudan trustworthy? Liss doubted it as Jasnah had asked Aesudan to be spied upon when the feast began. Though then again, Jasnah didn't want her dead, just spied upon, so perhaps there were worse people to find her secret?
  18. Liss didn't want to disturb the silence. It would draw too much attention to her. Not that she couldn't avoid it if she felt she needed to, but it was just too much effort. Lukily for her, Jasnah did it for her. Jasnah was thinking. Liss could tell. She almost went over to talk about her replacing Tearim as the new guard. But then she realized what role she was thinking of. Standing all day, following around a Brightlord... How incredibly boring. No wonder Tearim kept falling asleep on duty. One person, on duty 24/7/365. She honestly couldnt blame him, even though it did result in the deaths (and near deaths) of several people. Back to her job. Jasnah was paying her to keep an eye out for threats to her family after all. As she was walking around the hall, she passed by Dalinar's spot at the high table. She noticed a peice of paper covered in wine. Curious, she picked it up to read it. It was a message from the "Weeper"? Wait, what was that doing here? She didn't pass this on to Dalinar... Liss hurriedly stuffed the text into a hidden pocket, and walked off as unconspicously as possible. She would have to consider this later. Right now, she had a job to do.
  19. I want to point out @SE_Wit, you are in my neutral group in Gavilar's assassination. You have yet to provide an alibi for either Gavliar or Szeth's deaths. I would appreciate it if you could give us at least one for Gavilar's. I will be completing my current wincon this turn. If you provide an alibi, you may join me. There will be a 100% chance of success, so I can guarantee your wincon would be completed (I am assuming that what you say above refers to your wincon). I have not gotten any new goals since Gavilar died. Perhaps if your theory is correct, I will get a similar wincon after this turn. Or perhaps you need to complete a certain number of wincons before you would get that one...
  20. @SE_Elhokar_Kholin Darkness was ostracized. It wasn't him. Can we please discuss not the parshendi? Unless you have a specific question for them, it doesn't do us any good to keep reminding each other that they have a motive. If you check the list I made, I put people into a group of everyone who (i can think of who) may have had a motive to kill Gavilar. The parshendi are in there as they definitely did. But as the action Item Scan triggers before deaths or item transfers (as confirmed by @SE_Ivory), we know for a fact that Szeth didn't lead an action to kill Gavilar, as (if I remember correctly) all items go to the one who led the action. And we know that Szeth did not have Gavilar's items. I would say that there is a slightly more than 25% chance that Szeth would be the one to lead an action against Gavilar if the parshendi were to attack him. Anyway, if all we do is keep reminding ourselves that the parshendi might be the culprits, in case they are not, we will give the actual ones 2-3 turns without having to worry about people on their backs. Also, like Ialai said, "not all alibis are created equal". Elhokar, I could say I have the wincon to catch the killer. And no one could prove I didn't (except the people I told I didn't have that wincon). You could be lying, so this is hardly "concrete" evidence. Though before you address this: Yes, I know it is very like your character to want to avenge your father's death... but just saying, if you had killed him, you wouldn't have been the first person in this game considering killing his own father... In summery: I think the parshendi are serious suspects that cannot be dismissed yet. However, there are many more people on my list of people with motive who haven't responded to it. Before we accuse anyone of being guilty, we should either have quality evidence, or quantity of evidence to sort through. I don't think we have either.
  21. Thank you Eshonai for starting the list of suspects. Please don't mind me as I sort it for you: I think we need organize this into 4 categories: 1. "Motive" - People who have something to gain from his death 2. "Neutral" - People who have nothing to gain or lose from his death (or who we have no idea about) 3. "Loss" - People who have something to lose from his death 4. "Innocent" - People who were indisputably unable to contribute to Gavilars survival or death. I think Klade's and Eshonai's explanation is satisfactory for the moment (especially with Ivory's item scan of Szeth). And hopefully, in honor of Gavilar's memory, we can restrain ourselves from pointing at the Parshendi for the near future. This will allow us to discuss some of the other people who have motive.
  22. @SE_Eshonai @SE_Venli @SE_Klade. Please do not consider this as me accusing any of you, as I am reluctant to cast my vote for ostricisation as of right now, but please do consider this an opportunity for you to put many people's suspicions of you to rest. I am going to list the things that I think would be nice to have addressed. 1. The parshendi are a group that seems to have their wincons tied quite closely. Similar to Gavilar-Restares-Amaram, or Ivory-Jasnah. Because of this, we need a non-parshendi (non-Szeth) charecter to vouch for you. Just like how I wouldn't trust Jasnah to condemn Ivory for their faults, I wouldn't expect any of you to point out any wrongdoings of each other. 2. in hour 6.5, Klade said that Venli and Szeth protected him. He never said what he did. I asked for clarification in a PM, and both Navani and I asked him to give us an alibi for himself, but we never got a response. 3. Klade never said that Eshonai protected him. This seems like something he would know. Eshonai, who did you protect in hour 6? You never answered the question. Honestly, there are other people who I find, on principal, more suspicious than you three, but every post that one of you three make that skirts around our questions without addressing them, makes you appear more suspicious. Please, please, please! put those suspicions to rest if you truly are innocent.
  23. Amaram, I feel like that is just as likely to lead us down a while goose chase as it will find someone. For instance, if they kill someone who is targeting someone else, then that logic will cast suspicion on the innocent and not the guilty. Perhaps they have a really strong alibi and are not under suspicion at all right now, so have nothing to lose from targeting someone semi-random. Basically, I think we need more raw data before we can start inferring from said data. Though, perhaps after this turn, we will have enough information to make those calls... What I am nervous about is someone will transfer items that mark them as guilty if they know people are suspicious of them. Then we have to action and item spy... And I personally don't think that doing both is viable.
