The young man stared at the protective runes lining the walls and began to wonder if he had perhaps made a mistake in trusting the receptionist. Oh well, too late for that now. He braced himself.

The young man sat down in the chair with trepidation. "Uh... what is all of this?"

After a moment of hesitation, the young man hurried after him.

"I..." The young man looked back and forth between Calano and the receptionist. "Okay."

Clinic: Hallway "Wait!" he cried. "Where- where am I?"

"I'm-" the young man started, then paused. His name. What was his name? Why couldn't he remember his name? "I... I can't remember," he said, a note of panic entering his voice. He looked down at his hands. The lines of slightly-pale skin ran across them, as usual- but there was something new. A X, burned into his right palm.

Clinic: Hallway His brow furrowed. "Uh, no. I wouldn't say-" The young man blinked as the door next to him opened and a man walked out. Whoever he was, he seemed to be in charge.

He blinked. "Uh, yeah. That's one of my favorites, actually."

This time, the young man just stared. "I... do I what?"

The young man stared at him. "...what?"

The young man stood up, blinking his eyes. He tried to call out, "Hello" - but just like before, his voice made no sound. It was as if someone had pressed the mute button on him. He closed his eyes and rubbed his head, trying to remember how he'd gotten here. His heart twisted slightly as he remembered his family with black tears on their face, staring blankly at him. But that had been a dream, right? Surely it had to be a dream. He opened his eyes again and looked around, trying to place where he was. He was in... a hallway of some sort? The fluorescent lights and white walls gave the impression of a hospital corridor. Had he fallen into a coma, perhaps, and was only now waking up? But then why was he lying on the floor in the hallway? He glanced up at the fluorescent lights and abruptly sneezed. To his surprise, it came out normally. "Hello?" he tried experimentally and found that whatever power had silenced him before had ceased to do so. "Anyone there?" @CalanoCorvus

Ilvaite smiled, and some of the tension seemed to go out of her. Ilvaite seemed confused by this.

Ilvaite took a deep breath and shuffled forwards. "I... I want to stay with you. For now." She looked up at Elrin anxiously.

Ilvaite breathing began to steady. "You promise?"

Ilvaite raised a trembling hand and pointed at the newcomers. "But- they-" She shuddered.

"I- I'm scared," said Ilvaite, her breathing erratic.

"She- she wants to-" said Ilvaite in a small, breathless voice.

Ilvaite clutched at Elrin's shoulders. Or at least, tried to- when she did her hands went straight through. She gasped.

"Is it?" asked Obsidian thoughtfully. "I suppose I ate socks." He looked at Dave to see what his opinion was on post-adventure snacks. @Mr. Misting
