  1. I wonder how spiritual adhesion is with the Windrunners. I don't think it will be the same as the Bondsmiths because the things Dalinar does seem to be very Bondmith-like. They wouldn't really fit with the Windrunners. I agree that it's probably too complicated to accurately predict anything, but it would be interesting if Windrunners could use spiritual adhesion to temporarily confine spren or unmade to a certain area or person.
  2. Hello everybody! I realized that I never properly introduced myself so I decided to be polite and post this. I made this account about a year ago but only started posting within the last little while. I've been reading Sanderson for years and am a huge fan of the Cosmere. I've read just about everything. I haven't read the unpublished works yet though. My favorite series is The Stormlight Archive but Mistborn will always be close to my heart because it was my first Cosmere series that I read. I will now accept the cookies everyone has been talking about....
  3. Do not listen to this thing. My cookies will make you strong! Airsick Lowlander.....Welcome to the Shard!
  4. Brandon has said that Hoid would no longer work in that story. If he writes it, it will be about one of his "apprentices." Finally found the WoB. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/378/#e12466 Glamdring804 Yeah, it’s dangerous to leave him unsupervised for extended periods of time, as a random novella might suddenly appear. Brandon Sanderson The latest one is a story I really want to write about one of Hoid's apprentices, set in the future of the cosmere (between era 3 and 4) stranded on a minor shardword and trying to figure out their kite-based magic system... (No time right now, though. Stay on target...) yahasgaruna That sounds very much like the first story you wrote about Hoid, doesn't it? About him landing on a new planet and trying to figure out the local magic system? Brandon Sanderson Yes, it would be the spiritual successor of that story. I don't think it would work any more for him, the way he has developed, but I think it could play out very well with one of his many apprentices across the worlds. (Particularly if he's a little more organized about this in the space-age era.) Someday, I really need to send my old discs from the early 90s out for data recovery, to see if anything is on them. It would be a hoot to read these old stories and really see how much of the Cosmere existed in embryo back when I was a teenager. Stormlight Book Four Update #1 (Jan. 2, 2019)
  5. I know I’ve seen at least one WoB about it. Can’t find it right now but he’s talking about how he might eventually right a novella about “one of Hoid’s protégés on a planet trying to figure out the local magic system.” The only way I see Frost having stormlight is if he has one of those stormlight storage devices used in Oathbringer in the cognitive realm.
  6. We know Hoid has many protégés throughout the cosmere. It’s possible he could be using some of them as messengers? Maybe he has access to a long distance communication device similar to a spanreed which can be used without stormlight. Frost probably doesn’t have much access to stormlight.
  7. Hoid also talks about interplanetary trade through the pits of Hathsin in Mistborn SH.
  8. Yeah that's probably true.
  9. But at least you would get a shardblade. After you killed the spren you could just take the spike out right? There are probably easier ways to get a blade though to be honest....
  10. Yeah, I totally forgot about the windbreaks! It seems there are many examples to help my argument. (Don't worry, I understood that you were agreeing with me.)
  11. No she can't soul cast the entire planet. If she can soulcast the air with enough stormlight when the air sees itself as one entity, I see no reason why she couldn't soulcast a smaller portion of the ground with enough stormlight. Sure it's a lot harder but I'm pretty sure it could be done. Shallan's father soulcast areas of his land into mineral deposits after all. My argument still stands. She could immobilize him.
  12. Jasnah simply has far more variety in what she can do with large amounts of stormlight. Maybe when Kaladin swears the fourth ideal things will be more even. As of right now, I don't see Kaladin winning when they have a lot of stormlight. Soulcasting is very overpowered. If she doesn't manage to kill him and wastes her stormlight, Kaladin will gain the advantage with his superior combat skills and the fact that his surges don't use up as much stormlight. I find it unlikely that he would make it that far though. Jasnah wouldn't even need to soulcast aluminum. If she trapped him in rock while connecting himto the ground, restricting his arms so he can't use Syl, he would die very quickly. I'm not completely sure, but I think she could soulcast in a way that the rock around him would be connected to the ground. If I remember right, the new wall that she soulcast was connected to the old wall so she can fuse objects with soulcasting. There is no way he could use lashings to shatter the rock entrapping him to escape in that scenario because he can't move the entire planet.
  13. When you reach out your hand and try to call upon the mists on a foggy day
  14. When you're cold because your heater isn't doing its job and you immediately blame the storming heating fabrials and assume that the gemstones have cracked.
  15. Good job! Hopefully my future kids will enjoy them as much as I do. My wife hasn't liked them that much so far. Haha. Granted, she's only read Steelheart.
  16. More like: Who is Hoid? - by Trell Who is Trell? - By Hoid Where are the pancakes? - By Lift
  17. Third of the Dawn, but my parents would probably blasphemously name me Patji or something.
  18. I remember seeing a theory a little while ago about Harmony becoming Discord. It would certainly be interesting. Like Karger said though, Preservation was not able to see the future perfectly. The way the future kind of works in the Cosmere is that there are many possibilities. Preservation made those prophesies based on one possible path that he saw. That doesn't mean it won't happen. It does mean that it might not happen though.
  19. I've always imagined him with a deep, yet simultaneously very naive and cheery voice.
  20. Then when he's unsheathed, he becomes bad place Janet.
  21. Even an unrealistic stamp could hold for a little while with the right connections. I would become a super genius. I think I could find the connections to make it hold for at least a couple minutes. Then I would create the diagram.
  22. Well, Ashspren are the spren of dustbringers if that's what you're asking.
  23. 1. Moash somehow takes up the shard of Honor. 2. Kaladin freaks out and stabs Moash in the eye. 3. Adolin nods approvingly.
  24. Wow, I didn't even consider that! Imagine Marsh getting all of the other magic systems spiked into him. He kind of has nothing to lose. Harmony can already control him, so he might as well become one of the most powerful non-shards in the Cosmere......For some reason, the thought of Marsh lightweaving strikes me as completely ridiculous. Haha.
