Well I have all three already, but you know I'll have to get the omnibus too. Luckily, we've now entered an era where my daughter is into graphic novels, so I can use that as an excuse to purchase it. lol

So, in relation to the "Vyre as Avatar" convo, I am thinking of White Sand (I know, I know, but IT IS CANON, RIGHT):
[white sand and mistborn spoilers]
SpoilerRemember that we see "Trell" as a human in White Sand, but yet "Trell" on Scadrial has been hypothesized as an avatar of Autonomy.
This would fit with the definition as we see it now, in some ways. If a human is identified as being particularly important to a shard, they can shape it and invest is as a tool, perhaps, creating an "avatar" of the power. So Vyre is using a word that he doesn't really know what it means (he's just repeating "avatar") where Rayse is thinking of the term as *we* see it, and is like, yeah, no, bro, you're not getting any real powers. ha!

About the death rattles, we know that they are likely associated with the stained-glass type future sight, which also predicted that Dalinar would be Odium's champion, so given that the rattles are pre-OB, how accurate do we think they are likely to be, now?
I mean, it's not like they're super accurate all the time anyways, but still...

Yeah, re: Valor, perhaps, he may have been frustrated at Valor's decision to wait, because they interpreted their Intent as: “Discretion is the better part of valor.” (i.e., caution is better than being rashly courageous). Firmness doesn't mean rashness. But Hoid would have interpreted this differently.

I took it a few times (for test-retest reliability!) and my modal response was Windrunner + Edgedancer (average across multiple re-takes approximately 75% for both). I admire other orders, but I think Edgedancer is probably spot on for me.

I love all y’all of course, but Shannon gives me life on the trope podcasts. Brava! Can’t wait to log in to the live one. :-)

This one has my vote.
Agreed. I also like King of the World from @Darontal above if indefinite articles and other prepositions don’t count.

really? are they any worse than shameful ribbon?
Indeed. Perhaps A Killing Wind rips through the shameful ribbon until the arrival of A Kind Warrior delivers it from its sad fate?
(too much?)

Might the O’s, the prepositions, be ignored? I don’t know the in-world conventions for such. So: WK-WR-O-RW-? Then we might get something like: A Killing Wind or A Kind Warrior (those suck but you get my drift)—something with an indefinite article?

3. Delvers evolved from kitsen cytonics. This one is mostly supported by the fact that a) they all disappeared at some point in the past, and b (can't put a close parenthesis after this without creating an emoji) what if a delver maze is just a fully realized hamster ball?
I am quite literally L-O-Ling. My dog is concerned.

@king of nowhereHe commented on Reddit few hours ago that he has 10 chapters plus the climax and epilogue to finish by the end of the year still. But he feels confident he'll make it.

You all need to do a Drunk History-esque version of Shardcast just so I can hear if Ben's pronunciation improves with alcohol. :-D

Love this episode. The Hoid/Shallan collabo (look for their mixtape on soundcloud lol) is one of my favorite scenes and I love that you dug down on this one. Can't wait for episode 2. And 3. And 7.
IRT to "crackpot theories" I love them all...and I vacillate between two: the Rosharan-centric and the Hoid-centric.
In the first, I think it's describing the moment when Honor and Cultivation began to notice the humans and turn their backs on the Singers. Yes, they broke an oath, which may have caused Honor to turn his wrath (the storms) toward them. But then they flourished and grew, which I'm sure Cultivation just loved. This would dovetail well with the big reveal of OB.
But, in the latter, it's more a hat-tip toward the thinking that the story has morphed from its origins to be more understandable to the Rosharans (i.e., "stormlight") while Hoid is really hearkening back to a story that is an allegory of his own origin story. He shares knowledge with the humans that, yes, might bring suffering upon them, but is also necessary to move the "plot" (his plot) forward. And the little bit of God's light is really the residue of the shattering of adonalsium that still resides within him and leads him to where he needs to go. So, in essence, he see's himself as the girl (hence the addition of the hair).
Regardless, if it's plot-important, I'm sure we'll find it out. But if Argent's right about it merely being world-building, then it may have already served its plot-purpose and we may never know.

The joke about @Overlord Jebus saying "andolasiaum" just made me think of the fictional "Andalasia" from the Disney movie "Enchanted" and now both my and my children's fantasy worlds have collided.
I may never recover.

Battle of Thaylan fields. After the Thrill leaves? I Mentioning the Unmade would be apropos for a Death Rattle.
From OB:
QuoteAll across the field, red faded from the eyes of the Amaram's soldiers. Many immediately fell to their knees, retching on the ground.
So what if this is that sort of thing? That it's someone who looks around them after the Thrill leaves...and they wonder...what have we done?

So, I listened to this in the podcast version and then had to come see the infamous blanket-ghost-tech-lag intro, and it was worth it. I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing WITH you. Promise.
(and yes, that promise is the kind we moms make to our kids that we have no intention of keeping lollllll)

I took the “extra dead” comment a bit differently I guess. Stabbing someone would kill them. But in the case of a Herald, it seems that it might kill a physical body but the soul would always regenerate, just like the Fused. So the only way to “kill” a Herald is to trap its soul and prevent its ability to be regenerated. I mean, unless you have Nightblood. Lol so I think it stands to reason that Odium’s plan against the Oathpact ever being remade is to trap the souls of the Heralds which might then serve to free him from his prison? I don’t know.
Its early and I have a baby that never sleeps so I’m happy to be wrong. Lol

I always pronounced Shai like "shy" because of the 1990's R&B group that sang the most perfect a capella version of "If I Ever Fall In Love" that I played on repeat in middle school. Matter of fact...maybe that's why it's my favorite novella? Or maybe that's just because it's that good. :-)

Loved this incredibly awkward shard cast. I listen while commuting, but I had to log on to watch afterwards...so much awkward!
I'm not much of the "fantasy crush" type...not even as a teen back in the 90's when it was all the thing...and there are so many rich characters to choose from.
Imma go: Siri & Jasnah for the women and Hoid for the dudes? I dunno. This is very hard. lol

EXCELLENT questions! Can't wait to listen again to dissect them all.
