I'm liking something similar to this theory right now.  Tanavast saw what happened with his Heralds going insane, and with how Rayse interpreted his shard.  Assuming Tanavast set all this up, making the Stormfather the new Honor could give Dalinar all the powers of a Vessel with the additional checks required by the Nahel bond.

I don't think the Stormfather has it all, just a piece.

Guys. You know what Dalinars first chapter in WoK is?

    Unity.

    Mind.  Blown.

    edit:

To add on, I think Dalinar is being more literal here.  If the Stormfather is holding (or, more likely, IS) a piece of Honor's shard, which I feel is strongly implied, he just enhanced his connection to it through the Nahel Bond. Thus, he has partially taken up that piece of the shard of Honor himself.  Maybe this one piece of Honor has the intent of Unity, rather than the larger implication of Honor+Cultivation = Unity.  So depending on how many pieces Honor split into, there may be separate intents to each, which all combine to make up Honor.

The biggest issue I have with Moash being the Champion is Dalinar's familiarity. While it's possible Dalinar has seen Moash while he was one of Bridge Four, I don't think it would be enough for Dalinar to recognize Moash from the eyes alone. I feel like it either has to be someone Dalinar is very familiar with or Dalinar himself.

What if the familiarity is based on his familiarity with The Thrill, and therefore 1 of the 9 shadows/unmade?

  4. I haven't had the chance to read Snapshot yet, but I saw this today:

MGM has landed the film rights to Brandon Sanderson’s novella “Snapshot,” sources have confirmed to Variety.

The short story follows a detective assigned to Snapshot Duty, a recreation of a specific day and time. In the future, law enforcement uses the day as a way to solve crimes — i.e. find the location of a criminal’s dumped weapon or uncover what really happened in a domestic dispute. It’s drudgery, until the day a police officer investigates the memory of a call that was never logged, and he makes a horrifying discovery.

It is unknown if Sanderson would also pen adaptation of novella as well.

Broken Road Productions and Film 360 are producing the movie. The studio will soon begin the search for a director for the project.

Sanderson’s past books include “Mistborn,” “Wheel of Time,” and “The Stormlight Archive.” His book series “The Reckoners” recently landed at Fox with Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps banner producing. DMG Entertainment also recently nabbed film and licensing rights to Sanderson’s fantasy novel series “Cosmere.”

He is repped by APA, JABberwocky, and Weintraub Tobin.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.

  5. The Dayton stop is a bit over a hour away from me, maybe I should go there.  The Kentucky stop is almost two hours from me.  I still think I'm pretty fortunate to have two possible options to me.

Dayton is about 3 hours from me.

  6. Yalb can see Shallan's spren?  Will be be a surgebinder?  HMMMM.

*edit*  Apparently they all can based on this comment.  So Syl, being of Honor, isn't able to be seen by most but Pattern can be seen by all?

She worried about letting them see Pattern. She’d tried staying in her cabin to keep him a secret from the men, but being cooped up had been too difficult for her, and he didn’t respond to her suggestions that he stay out of their sight. So, during the last four days, she’d been forced to let them see what she was doing as she studied him.

They were understandably discomforted by him, but didn’t say much.

  7. I read it a few months ago,  really loved it.  I found it very engaging and it was the kind of novel that drags me along as opposed to me having to put effort into keep going.  I was also pleasantly surprised that the Author is from Cleveland, where I live!  He's doing a signing at a local Barnes and Noble on this Friday, Nov 22nd and I think I'm going to stop by and buy a copy to support him (since I bought it originally from Audible which I know is tantamount to ripping the author off).  I think it's the highest quality of new author I've read all year.

I'd like to echo most of this, though I won't be able to make the signing.

I agree with a lot of what was said in this thread overall.  I loved the way the magic systems interacted, but was annoyed by the lack of consequences for Taniel's constant snorting.  I kind of feel like we'll see some sort of consequence in the second book, but it would've been nice for at least hints of one in this book.

  8. Bump - I'm re-reading WoK right now and just got to the part where Moash talks about wanting to kill someone.  I don't have any gut instinct telling me who he wants to kill right now, but I got to pondering "what ifs".  "What if" he wants to kill Sadeas, Adolin, or Dalinar?  Or one of the other Highprinces?  It could set the stage for a great internal struggle, or threaten to tear the warcamps apart if he makes an attempt on someone so high.

“Sure.  But there’s a difference between us, Kaladin.”

    Kaladin raised an eyebrow.

“You wanted to be able to save someone.  Me, I want to kill somebody.”

    “Who?”

Moash hesitated, then shook his head.

“Maybe I’ll say, someday.” He reached out, grabbing Kaladin on the shoulder.  “I’d surrendered my plans, but you’ve returned them to me.  I’ll guard you with my life, Kaladin.  I swear it to you, by the blood of my fathers.”
