  1. But how do you actually ADD a signature? I've checked the Edit Profile function on my Profile page, and I don't see any text box for me to put a signature in. There's nothing that says anything like "Add Signature" or "Edit Signature." Is it the "About Me" section?
  2. I've never gotten the impression that Brandon thinks sex is bad. He has the more mature and realistic attitude that sex can be bad, based on a whole bunch of factors. It may just be something he's not comfortable writing about, except in oblique ways. EDIT: You might be interested to know that this is the only thread on the entire forum that's actually tagged "boobs." Trust me, I looked.
  3. I essentially live in a constant state of having theories proposed and shot down. That's part of the fun. To paraphrase Thomas Edison: "I have not failed in understanding the Cosmere. I have simply discovered ten thousand ways not to understand the Cosmere."
  4. That's a good point, also there's the possibility of Shardic puppetry, physical pain, deformation, insanity, having to deal with the guilt of murdering scores of people for your powerups-- lots of downsides. You might even say that prolific Hemalurgists are actively Ruining themselves and the world around them. Clever, Brandon, very clever. As you can imagine from my poasting gimmick, I've thought about this way too much, and I don't think I'd ever want more than three spikes if I were to do it. Sazed's a cool guy and all, but I don't know if I want him making unscheduled appearances in my head. The first spike would be for A-Steel, because being a Coinshot would be cool as hell. The second and third I'd keep as "floating spikes" in case I'd find a cooler magic system off Scadrial we don't know about yet: one spike for the Connection, one for the power itself. All this changes if we ever definitively find out what happens if you Allomantically burn a Hemalurgic spike. If the "sDNA splice" gives you the same effect as inserting the spike normally, then I'm burning two Steel spikes charged with A-Iron and A-Steel, removing my original A-Steel spike, and replacing it with a spike for F-Nicrosil. And I would never, ever spike abilities from animals. Not until we get more information about what happens.
  5. *grumbles quietly, crossing out theory on giant whiteboard*
  6. Well we know Yelig-nar, at least, can create a pseudo-Nahel "bond" with those who swallow a gemstone. And I think you could argue that the Three Mindless Unmade make some sort of "bond" with people who receive Death Rattles/The Thrill/100% Degeneracy. I think the difference might be that Odiumspren create parasitic and harmful bonds, where as the Nahel bond is symbiotic. This would go very well with Odium's Intent, as well as the Fused's MO of totally destroying their host's mind. Odium's Invested lackeys seem to share an MO of destroying the Cognitive. (hmm, note to self: what if an Odiumblade kills a thing in the Cognitive Realm the way an Honorblade kills it in the Spiritual? Is that why Moash's knife was so weird?...)
  7. I think the Fused are really Odium's closest analog to the Heralds, but this is an interesting theory too.
  8. I really want to learn more about Obrodai and/or Vax, but I understand info on both Shardworlds(?) has been consistently RAFO'd since, like, ever.
  9. According to one of the letters Hoid has a vendetta against Bavadin, too, so that might actually make more sense than you think.
  10. With the knowledge that a mystery Shard has "hacked into" Scadrial's magic system and manifest its Investiture as a new godmetal, trellium. I wonder how far this extends. Could there potentially be trellium Mistings or Ferrings born in the future? We know that Preservation altered Allomancy to allow atium Mistings to be born, so it's not out of the realm of possibility. But this may be something unique to Preservation, as Allomancy was his magic system to begin with. It's possible that "Trell" has interfered with the Metallic Arts enough to add a new godmetal, but not enough so that people are actually born with the "sDNA" to use it for Allomancy or Feruchemy. Any thoughts on this, one way or the other?
  11. Right, but the thing with Hemalurgy is the massive COST. Especially when you use spikes to drain innate Investiture. Hemalurgy always damages and warps the recipient; it's not something to be taken lightly or treated like a free power-up. Think of how messed-up the koloss are, having the bits and pieces of four human souls grafted onto them. And that's with purely human Spiritwebs. Can you imagine the kind of horrible side-effects you'd get by grafting shreds of animal Spiritwebs onto yourself? I don't care how cool it would be to have a viper's ability to sense heat, I don't want bits of snake grafted onto my soul. Yes, I may be an unlicensed Hemalurgist, but I'm not an unethical one. I have standards.
  12. It really comes down to whether the Steelrunner's speed boost runs out faster than the Seer's atium reserves burn up, I think.
  13. Well dang. Thanks for the quick responses!
  14. Alethi worldhoppers visiting First of the Sun be like:
  15. Pretty much exactly what the title says. We know that experienced Soulcasters can specify the type of the selected Essence the Soulcast material becomes (Jasnah trying to replicate strawberry jam in Way of Kings). If you knew what you were doing, could you Soulcast a material into a piece of a godmetal? Or would that be interfering in something far too intimately connected with the relevant Shard?
  16. Marsh gained his atium allomancy through Hemalurgy after Ruin's release, and probably didn't have enough atium to achieve savantism in the year between then and the Catacendre. Elend burned more atium in one sitting than probably anyone in history, but was killed almost immediately afterwards. He may have been close to savantism, but we'll never know for sure. So it makes sense that neither Marsh nor Elend were atium savants.
  17. I'd like to be a Mistborn, mostly for Steelpushes and Ironpulls. Plus, I always seem to have a ton of spare change lying around, so time to put it to good use! Though I suppose Sand Mastery would be cool to have too, though really only if the sand could be recharged with Earth's sun.
  18. Well on the one hand, technically the Singers are fighting an anti-colonialist war of liberation against Mankind. They have the right of it. On the other hand, they're being led by a magical serial killer fuelled by the distilled power of God's divine hatred, who wants to wipe out all the less misanthropic gods and turn the entire universe into his personal never-ending slaughterhouse. Go Team Human.
  19. Can a Seer burn atium alloys naturally as well, or are they strictly an atium Misting? I want to think godmetals may work differently than the basic metals in this regard, but I doubt it. Has there been a WoB on this?
  20. Cut my lerasium bead in half Burn first half; become Mistborn Get a hold of some duralumin Burn duralumin + second half, become a GOD
  21. I don't know about harmonium, but shouldn't burning an atium/lerasium alloy just re-write your spiritual DNA to make you an atium Misting?
  22. So, something like an extreme difficulty gauging cause-and-effect? Or an inability to consider the future at all? EDIT: Also, turns out there is a WoB on atium savantism out there.
  23. Oh, they'd almost certainly be insane. But very, VERY good at killing. I wonder if an atium savant would be able to counter the effects of electrum to a degree, sort of like how a sufficiently strong Seeker can pierce copperclouds?
  24. Time for a speculation thread! Ignore for a moment the financial implications of having that much atium on hand. Let's imagine that there was someone, either a Mistborn or a Seer, who had burned enough atium to warp their spiritual aspect and become a savant. What sorts of things could they do with atium that normal burners could not? I imagine they'd be able to extend the length of the atium shadows they saw far into the future. But presumably prolonged exposure to that much concentrated power of a Shard might have additional unexpected effects. And I'm almost positive that one drawback of atium savantism would be an increased suceptibility to Ruin or another Shard's influence. Are godmetal savants even possible?
