  1. The weaknesses were inherently tied to Calamity's corruption(/presence), because when an Epic faces their fear, they also drive back the darkness, which we know was because of Calamity and his contempt for humanity (and fear/startlement of the physical world). Now that Calamity is gone (or in the case of the otherverse already left a long time ago) does that also imply that the Epics no longer have weaknesses? Does that mean Megan literally can't die and David is literally invincible to all physical damage? Is this why Obliteration is still wreaking havoc in the otherverse even though they have an actual Superman expy helping them out, because he can't be killed since he just teleports forever?
  2. That has actually been addressed as a question to Brandon: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/61996-shardplate-wobs/?do=findComment&comment=628819
  3. Do spren have limits to how quick they can transform? I remember in the fight with Szeth Kaladin was using Syl as a shield to block one blow, the directly back into a spear to (or was that the hammer) to counterattack. I'm sure there might be, but has anyone asked Brandon this?
  4. I see. Thanks for the answers
  5. I made this story because I was really inspired by the Cosmere magic systems in general, as well as his lectures at BYU (for some reason). I basically built the magic system first, then built the world around it based on its implications. Summary: The king of Cevan is dead. His body burnt and scorched, the mark of an Ignitran —a Resonator who uses heat. Theban Baris —the eldest prince, and a Resonator himself— comes home to a kingdom nearing chaos: People taken away and friends wrongfully accused. The prince must now confront his mother for these troubling actions, find out who killed his father, and take the throne before news of the kingdom's state leaks. -- [Book 1 of the Cadent Trilogy] Cover by: @killer_in_heels Link to Prologue: https://www.wattpad.com/485300537-cadent-worldblaze-prologue-marcalus'-investigation Critique, positive and negative, is welcome.
  6. If so, where? (unsure if this is the right place to ask questions, I didn't find an FAQ here) Also, can we link to our story or does it have to be written in the forum/thread itself?
  7. Makes sense. Thank you
  8. If it was discussed in the books, I probably missed it. Anyway, we know that broams hold more stormlight than chips, but I'm asking whether certain gemstones can hold more stormlight than others (i.e. do emeralds hold more than diamonds?)
  9. These are for theories that I think up of, but are too esoteric and specific that it wouldn't warrant its own thread. (Will likely update this thread when I have new theories, but won't bump it up until I have at least 3 new ones. If that's allowed at least) Theories are bolded, explanations are afterward. Here we go: 1) "[...] It didn't scream." Would be either a chapter ender or a POV transition in a later Stormlight Archive book. I can imagine a scene where a Radiant, most likely-definitely Kaladin is fighting another Shardbearer, when he accidentally touches the opponent's sword somehow, he doesn't hear screams. This would imply that the opponent is either also a radiant or has an Honorblade. 2) Kaladin will use Syl's Shardform to better effect and augment his fighting style. I can see Kaladin using Syl in spearform as a ranged attack, extending the spear's shaft, maybe even being able to wrap around to home in on targets. 3) Eshonai will be able to exert her will on stormform (also she's still alive after that fall) Temporarily or permanently. The screaming self will be able to wrest control of her actions and intentions at a critical moment. 2017/11/11 - Only two for now, I'll reserve the larger theories for actual threads. 2017/11/11 - Added another theory a few minutes after.
  10. Hello there, I'm Cyanic. I just finished listening to Words of Radiance and am thoroughly convinced I want to dive into Brandon's other works as we all wait for Oathbringer, (then 7 other books :c ) my wait will be longer though as I might want to pick up the Graphic Audio audiobook, (but if I can't take it, I'm probably gonna straight up buy the printed book itself) This is the only piece of the Cosmere that I've consumed thus far (I realize this makes me sound like an eldritch abomination), but I've accidentally, then intentionally spoiled myself on the Mistborn original trilogy, but I could probably still read it and enjoy. I sincerely hope this desire to dive in doesn't make me procrastinate more than I already do for my real life projects. I'm already planning on getting Warbreaker because its magic system is the most intriguing to me. Anyway, glad to be here. I might not be that active, but it's good to have an account to jump into discussion every once in a while.
