  1. I had assumed that the Listeners were using only gems since we had the following from the Last Legion chapter in WoR "They were hauling rockbuds harvested on one of the nearby plateaus, plants which had been encouraged to grow quickly by use of Stormlight-infused gems" They could be using this method and a soulcaster in tandem. The first interlude with Eshonai does mention the gemheart they just won will allow them to eat. I learned something today. yippie.
  2. The Parshendi did not have soulcasters. The Alethi thought that they did, but they used the stormlight from gems to make their crops grow faster.
  3. I'd like to: find hidden worldhoppers like kandra, nazh, vivenna, etc.. I'd like to see: -new shardplate / new fabrial tech -humans and listeners fighting side by side against Odium minions -new listener forms no one has thought of -Lift being awesome -Mr. T having plans within plan within plans -Stormfather become a blade -Shinovar honorblade recovery team -Szeth's justice for being made Truthless -Taln doing something
  4. so where do blade guards come from? They don't appear to come as hand me downs from the knights radiant?
  5. Thaylen City will be a port city given that its on an island and their economic driver is trade. I am guessing on the Northern side in the strait at the closest point to mainland Roshar. We know so little of the Shin so its hard to know whether their major city would be coastal or on a river. I wouldn't be surprised if it was physically as far away as possible from the rest of Roshar. From what we know so far Jah Kaved is highly populated and its oathgate is far to the south. This leaves a lot of people without access to an easy oathgate.
  6. Once plate is made or formed it'll have it's own spren that basically says "I am plate." Remember everything has a spren. The stormlight that feeds plate will make the plate into its spiritual ideal of what plate is. I think that Radiant spren are capable of shaping raw investiture (stormlight) into making physical objects. I am wonder what else they can make in addition to plate. Maybe honorspren can make gravity and adhesion fabrials as well? No one know how the ancient fabrials works after all just like they do not know how to make plate.
  7. I believe that Truthwaters are Brandon's cosmere version of clairvoyance. By seeing the present I meant remote viewing. From wikipedia "Pertaining to the ability of clear-sightedness, clairvoyance refers to the paranormal ability to see persons and events that are distant in time or space. It can be divided into roughly three classes: precognition, the ability to perceive or predict future events, retrocognition, the ability to see past events, and remote viewing, the perception of contemporary events happening outside of the range of normal perception"
  8. So far I have seen primarily focus on the future when talking about what Truthwatchers can possibly see. When Renarin says that he "sees" at the end of WoR could it include past, present, and future? We have the countdown indicating future. I don't see any evidence for present, but I speculate that they will be able to. Oathbringer chapter 6 excerpt below indicates seeing into the past is possible through connection. In Oathbringer Chapter 6 Syl walked up to him in the air. “They’re like I remember them.” “Remember them?” Kaladin whispered. “Syl, you never knew me when I lived here.” “That’s true,” she said. “So how can you remember them?” Kaladin said, frowning. “Because I do,” Syl said, flitting around him. “Everyone is connected, Kaladin. Everything is connected. I didn’t know you then, but the winds did, and I am of the winds.” “You’re honorspren.” “The winds are of Honor,” she said, laughing as if he’d said something ridiculous. “We are kindred blood.”

  11. Hi its me and I'm new and this is my first post. I've been a fan of SFF since I read My Teacher Fried My Brains by Bruce Coville. I enjoy some YA works for appetizers, but really my main course is philosophically interesting works of fiction. Beyond that and more important than my taste in literature I'm a Christian, husband, father, and electrical engineer in that order. Looking forward to contribution here and there when I have the time. -notsawerd
