Perpendicularly Ambush Waiting to Happen?
RazeU replied to Crucible of Shards's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The tactical prowess this would take. To position Odium’s forces in an exact location in Shadesmar, to force Dalinar to that exact location in the PR, then I suppose forcing a situation where he would need to open a perpendicularity would be the easiest part of the whole thing with what the good guy’s standard tactics now appear to be. Actually... some battle sights are just common sense really. So maybe this wouldn’t be as hard as I originally assumed. That’s terrifying. The more I think about it the easier it seems. -
Well damnation. That makes me sad.

When Vin was fighting the Inquisitors and taking in all the mists as they were all returning to Luthadel, she made a comment to the effect of she didn’t need to burn duralumin because her Allomancy was so strong being fueled by the mists. But what would have happened if she had applied the effect of duralumin while using the mists? The entire power of a crippled god or Shard in one big flash? Pointless? Not allowed by governing physics? I guess there’s really no reason to my question except before Marsh removed her earring and the mists returned to her, she was desperate and burning duralumin like crazy. And then she didn’t even need it. edit: I should add this is the first time I’ve reread the Mistborn series in probably eight years or so and I have neglected this part of the forums for a good while now.

Lol well rarely have a seen an idea so thoroughly trashed as that. I stand corrected and embarrassed

My bigger question related to this topic is a little different. I’m curious to see if people think it is going to be common for our main characters to swear the fifth ideal (specifically in this first 5 books). Any of them? All of them? Who do you think? Everyone (except possibly Dalinar) seem far far away to me. Szeth seems likeliest besides him. Or Jasnah but she’s hard to judge because of lack of information about her oaths so we can’t compare to her personality and mindset. Although her and Ivory definitely seem on the same page. I can’t really picture anyone else at this point. Which is exciting in terms of potential character growth. It’s a testament to Brandon that after 3 books these characters are still evolving.

I disagree. The investiture comes from the spiritual realm I believe. So the only way for it to get to the spheres in the physical realm is through a perpendicularity. Therefore if Dalinar is the first to open a perpendicularity, he is the first to infuse spheres. again, if the Stormfather’s reaction was just him being shady about his memory... this is all based on a false assumption.
-
My first reaction was a city in Shadesmar and thats Adolin (since he’s always wanted an excuse to wear a cape) but I don’t see a second sun. So I don’t know. Nothing jumps to mind from the descriptions I can recall.
-
No Bondsmith before Dalinar has been able to infuse gemstones or provide Investiture on Demand. Or if so I find it odd that the Stormfather didn’t know it when he spoke to Dalinar the first time it happened.

Or Spren of Roshar? Would Roshar have a singular spren if its own?

Thought about Lift from RoW Reading (spoilers)
RazeU replied to bridgemenspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That’s a clever thought! If the highstorms actually were to quit coming... we’ll several things. It makes me fear for Dalinar and the Stormfather. And it reminds me of *MB Spoilers ahead*: what happened to Scadrial after Vin killed the Lord Ruler before Harmony corrected it. Not in terms of investiture. Just in terms of like a physical doomsday clock type setting.- 12 replies

So I saw something about a livestream tomorrow with more details? I need a release date lol.

Thanks folks. Couple of things here that could make sense. Guess there’s really no way to know for sure. someone mentioned connection spren... I guess I don’t really understand that?

While doing yet another Oathbringer re-read, I got curious about something. When the group gets transported to Shadesmar and Shallan is looking around trying to find a way to get them away from the rising soul of the Unmade there, she sees hundreds of little orange or green people shaped spren a few inches tall. She sees them in the ocean of beads moving among the beads. Any guess what type of spren these could be? I am by no means theorizing they are important or anything, just curious.

Anyone want to speculate? Was suggested to me in the audible app and had a brief description. Arms race sounds interesting and makes me thing Dawnshards on KR side and.... who knows on Rayse’s side. Tower secrets.... no idea but yes please. thoughts? edit: also implies Navani is kicking chull with new fabrial development.
-
@Arondell you convinced me. Theory shot lol
-
@Arondell I may need clarification on the timeline here. I have believed up until now that she “moved in” to Urithiru after the KR had already weakened and mostly moved away?
-
I’m rereading Oathbringer again and this jumped out at me. I guess my theory is super simple. Does this sound to anyone else like possibly removing fuses from a circuit? Possibly in an effort to keep the Midnight Mother from controlling more sections of the city?
-
This makes me think slightly of a comparison to what the other 9 Heralds did to Taln...
-
Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind any creature voidish or mortal, he crawled up the steps crafted for Heralds, ten strides tall apiece, toward the grand temple above. has everyone always assumed this was speaking about one of the Sleepless? I just reread the quote in another post and it hit me with a completely different perspective than every other time I’ve read it. Heralds are normal sized folk lol... but maybe their steps are ten stride tall apiece for a cremling? Just a thought. Please correct me if I’ve missed something.
-
Would the easiest way to solve this be for Dalinar to accept being Odium’s champion and then throw the fight? Would being connected to so much of Honor even let him do that? I really don’t want this to be the case but it’s such a simple solution it’s hard to ignore.

Is there an updated list of shards and holders and locations somewhere? Search isn’t really helping.
-
All he said in the post was Hawaii lol

So Brandon posted this on Facebook 40 minutes ago. I obviously zoomed in. Rhythm of War? Chapter title? Or book title? Sorry if this isn’t new info.

Which Unmade was not discussed in Hessi’s Mythica? Please excuse spelling I’m re-listening to the audiobook and don’t have the physical copy at hand. Also is anything known about which Unmade is not discussed? Edit* so as not to create a redundant post, as I’m sure this has been discussed before, if someone could point me in the direction of a discussion on the third Siblind being Urithiru itself... I would appreciate it. A search didn’t show me what I was looking for.
