  1. Well, seeing as Brandon has said that Era 2 (1980s-ish) is planned to feature a Mistborn serial killer (unless I totally mistaken)... And about Hoid's bead... Well, he'll have a very hard time giving it away, let's say. Also, I'm pretty sure that Preservation (seeing as that's the base Shard Allomancy comes from) doesn't typically create Mistborn. Also also, Harmony did make Spook Mistborn while he ascended so if he had appropriate motivation he'd presumably be able to make more. Oh, and if I'm not misremembering it Feruchemy and Allomancy interfere with each other, Spiritual genetics wise, and as such you can't (normally) have Full Feruchemy and Mistborn-ness overlapping. OK, last thing, I'm also quite certain that the (or at least one) reason Allomancy is weaker after the Final Empire era is because Sazed tweaked it so that Snapping wouldn't require as much trauma. ¤_¤
  2. Yeah, they store the ability to use Investiture, not the output Investiture itself. (Isn't it a lot of fun when we use the same name for both the ability itself and its effect? ) ¤_¤
  3. I'm assuming that a cracked stone is a bit more messed up than just fine cracks running through it, more like there's a great honkin' gash down it or something. Also, I think (basing myself on the cracked stones in Elhokar's Plate) that a cracked stone is just functionally useless, in that it bleeds Light far too fast, seeing as Plate still functions if powered by cracked gems. In addition, the stone's ability to hold Light would probably be adversely affected by even very fine cracks, because of refraction and... possibly something else... ¤_¤
  4. This exchange seems to be born out of a conflict between how Nicrosil Feruchemy is presented in the books versus in the Adventure Game. In the books nicrosil stores, hmm, the Spiritual blueprint for your abilities, so to say. So you can store (presumably) any kind of Investiture you are capable of using. A Thug could store the ability to burn pewter, for instance. I the Adventure Game Investiture is treated as "Generic Feruchemical Energy" that can be used in various ways. Also, I agree with Ookla that while all Feruchemical stores are in the form of Investiture, not all stores store Investiture. Also also, feel free to correct me if I misunderstood either of you. ¤_¤
  5. AHHHHH!! The book was very, very gripping! Agree with at least one other poster that Allik's tounge is Germanic-ish. To me (a Swede) it sounded possitively Norwegian. On that note; ettmetal, ett (one) + metal, probably alkali metal as has been said. Holy! Did not think stored investiture was gonna work like that, quite pleased with it though. Compunding would essentially result in arbitraily high efficiency, no? (As in getting more power per unit of fuel for your Investiture.) Kell, you never could keep your nose out of others' buisness... As an Aspie I absolutely adore Steris' portrayal! She's a very well written High-functioning Autism-spectrum character. (At least that's my reading of her. I've read that there's a WoB on her being an Aspie, anyone have a link?) Oh, and I connect the red eyes with Odium myself. Now we only need to get to know the rest of all this... ¤_¤
  6. I thought it was progressively released as a second kind of mist. I was really sure it said something about two kinds of mist in Alloy of Law but I couldn't couldn't find it... Sorry, can't cite anything to back it up...
  7. Well, maybe Harmonium would be his "element"* (as in, made up of one kind of atoms, a non-alloy) and Sazedium being a 50/50 alloy of Atium and Lerasium. Maybe? *Stupid ponies, get out of my brain...
  8. I feel that Shardblade should be changed as it does not accurately reflect the contents of the article. It should be something like Shard (Roshar), I think. And, as always, more content should be added. Last I checked there wasn't even a token mention of Half-Shards.
  9. I would like to propose that some guidelines and/or rules be made for the Coppermind. I would really like to see the Coppemind become really good wiki and I'm ready to help out if I can. I'd also like to know if it's possible to change the titles of wiki pages, some pages might benefit from a rename (e.g. Shardblade).
  10. We really need to establish rules for the wiki, and to thoroughly go over the articles. Jumbled tense, incorrect or incomplete inormation is so much fun! Speaking of, I think I managed to improve the "Shardblade"-page by a bit.
  11. I'm not saying that any of this is wrong, but, where is the proof that "Thinker" is Demoux? That is a piece of information I'd not encountered before. Also, didn't Harmony change Allomancy back to its original state? Because in that case shouldn't Atium mistings have become, presumably, Cadmium mistings? (Which may explain why he's still alive, assuming an ample supply.)
  12. Harmony's forearms! That was great!
  13. OMS (Oh My Shard) Want! Want! WANT!
  14. Or is it double nicrosil?

  15. Duralumin is a confirmed power, Sazed mentions it in one of the epigraphs of Hero of Ages. Also, this is noted about Marsh; "Rain ran down his [Marsh's] skin, dripping from the spikes that sprouted from his chest. One between each set of ribs." (Hero of Ages, TOR paperback, p. 631) Now, this one is, according to me, a bit, unclear. What is normally refered to as a "set of ribs" is, as far as I know, a pair across. One left, one right. I'll assume that people from Scadrial have a skeletal structure closely resembling or even identical to ours. Now, if the interpretation that each "set" is a pair across is correct, Marsh has, at least, 12 spikes in his chest (Homo Sapiens have 24 ribs, or 12 sets of ribs). However, the first Inquisitor we see in the book, the one I used for example purposes earlier, is noted to have most of the spikes in its chest between the ribs, as in one rib above, one rib below. If that's how we're supposed to interpret the part I quoted then Marsh has at least 22 spikes in his chest alone. And even if the first interpretation is correct he has a total of at least 21. 2 eyes, 1 shoulders, 6 ribs, 12 chest.
  16. Derp, you'd think I haven't read that book four times.
  17. Well, a few things there, first of all, the exact quote is: "There was nothing he could do. He'd used up most of the healing in his metalmind, and the rest would do him no good." The phrasing here could imply that he has a non-spike goldmind, though that's probably not the case. Well, what you say about Miles is perfectly true but, remember, he had about thirty metalminds on his person at any given time, and even he should eventually run out under extreme attrition. And that's just the thing, Mr. Hundredlives: 30 goldminds, Marsh: 1 goldmind. Also, did I ever say he was Compounding? It would grant him the ability, not the skill or time to learn to use the ability. Plus, we already know that he can (as in, has the ability to) Compound pewter, steel and atium. And even if he had the knowhow, would he have had the skill required to refill his metalmind during battle, and would he had the correct metals prepared to do so?
  18. Well, the Urteau article just got expanded by a couple hundred percent. I am, however, sure that it could have been phrased way better.
  19. Yes, he runs out of healing (almost). But, remember, he only has that one spike to tap from. It could probably not be filled with incredible amounts of healing. And he does get crushed under the rubble from Kerdik Shaw which would probably burn through his store quite quickly. And sure, maybe he just couldn't Compound at that point, not even TLR got it right from the start according to Brandon.
  20. Hi, I'm relatively new to 17thshard but I possess extensive Cosmere knowledge, especially regarding Mistborn and, well, I'd like to help the Wiki out. Exuse me but it seems rather... lacking. And I really would like to help out so if somebody could point me in the right direction, well, I could be a powerful tool. Preferably Mistborn related. That is, so to say, my field of expertise. So, yeah, what can I do to help out?
  21. If anybody still cares about the original question and this thread. I'd want either Allomantic pewter/Feruchemical iron or Allomantic pewter/Feruchemical nicrosil. Either would be awesome I believe.
  22. I realized what my original post was missing, I actually have a theory about Zinc. We see in the books that tapping Zinc causes you to percieve at a faster rate and thus you see the world as in slow motion. Now, if we assume that you've been doing this for an extended period of time, it will probably have become your "normal" preception and thus when you stop tapping, everything will be going too fast for you.
  23. Hi again, in this rant-tastic entry, titled Marsh's Mystery Spikes, I'd like to explore the enhanced Inquisitors of Ruin's day. More specifically I'd like to explore how they were enhanced (and, no I'm not an idiot, it was through Hemalurgy, I know, what I mean is what power(s) they were given) and I'd like to do this using the example Marsh (this may also give me a chance to be a huge Marsh fanboy ). So, let's start with the known: 1) Marsh has at least 21 Hemalurgic spikes, 11 from the start and ten more somewhere near the start of HoA, ""Does that...hurt, Marsh?" she asked. "The spikes, I mean?" He paused. "Yes, all eleven of them...throb.[...]"" (Mistborn, p. 637, TOR paperback), "Of all the Inquisitors, Marsh had been given the largest number of new spikes-he had ten new ones planted at various places in his body." (The Hero of Ages, p. 119, TOR paperback). 2) Known powers. (I do this under the assumption that no further spikes were gained during the rest of HoA, though it's a possibility) Iron(A) Steel(A)(F) Tin(A) Pewter(A)(F) Brass(A) Bronze(A) Gold(F) Duralumin(A) Atium(A)(F) This gives us 12 confirmed spikes (if I missed any that are confirmed in the books please tell me) and 9 unknowns. Here is the speculation part. First of all, I don't think it too unlikley that he also had: Copper(A) Zinc(A) I have, however, been unable to find references to him using these abilities (again, please tell me if I'm wrong) This leaves us with 7 unknowns and I don't think that he had any of the powers that were unknown at the time (Chromium, Nicrosil, Bendalloy, Cadmium) as they would both have been hard to find and Vin would probably have noted the unfamiliar metals in Marsh's vials when she stole them. Now then, 7 more spikes... I think that, at least to a degree, the Inquisitors were given (F)-powers that complemented their (A) and (H)-powers, that is where they could also burn the metal (and thus Compound it) and use their spikes as metalminds, thus ruling out any of the pure (non-alloy) physical and mental metals since they steal human attributes and that, apparently, twists the recipient much more. Unless of course they started wearing external metalminds. Now, on with the speculation. I think at least Marsh was granted the following: Gold(A) (for Compounding) Bronze(F) (as above) Now, I admit, he could have gotten Brass(F) as well, but I just don't see that being useful in a fight (because Atium(F) clearly is). Still, even if you assume that, that's 4 spikes unaccounted for, 2 if you assume double external physical metals (and I think we kinda have to, what with the previously mentioned nine-spiker). So then, what could those last two spikes be? I frankly haven't the faintest... Actually, maybe Iron(F) and Zinc(F), if we assume exernal metalminds (I went with those because the make the most sense to me, Iron for Pushing and Pulling, Zinc for mental speed).
  24. So, as far as I've seen we lack a dedicated Compuounding thread. No more! Now, I'd like to start this off with a quote from Alloy of Law: "From what Waxillium knew of Compounding, it could be very dangerous to stop once you'd started" (The Alloy of Law, 1st edition, p. 218, TOR hardcover) Also, for those who don't care about spoilers or have managed to not pick up what Copmounding is, it's combining Allomancy and Feruchemy by burning your own metalminds, this grants you a tenfold return on your Feruchemical investment. Now, the thing about stoping being dangerous and the effects of Compounding that makes it dangerous is what I'd like to touch on in this post. Of course the best example would be Miles Dagouter aka. Miles "Hundredlives", the man who doesn't feel pain anymore. So if he'd stop Compounding he could very easily get hurt without realising it. Oh, I should probably say that this here is under the assumption that the body adapts/reacts to the changed conditions, like in real life. So, let's take a look, metal by metal (I assume that everyone knows what metal does what): Iron, not much to say regarding risks but there is this little thing; I think that by slowly (over several years perhaps) increasing your "normal" weight you could make your body inherently stronger. Think like this, if you can move around normally at two or three times your normal weight, then what could you do if you stopped tapping, huh? Steel, again, I can't really find any downsides to stopping, though I don't know how the human body would react to moving at a higher velocity for a long time and then slowing down to normal again. Tin, now, here I think something similar to what happened to Spook in HoA would happen, your body would adapt to being super-sensitive so everything would become "dull" if you stopped. Pewter, this one is fun (in the same way as slicing your leg open is fun...), we already know what happens when we don't use out muscles, they regress (I think that's the word anyway). The reason I bring that up is that I think the body would react as if you wern't using your "normal" muscles and that they would thus regress. The risk here then, is that your body would be too weak to use. Zinc, not a lot to say, I guess the risk would be not being able think as quickly?? (If you have something better, by all means, tell me! ) Brass, again, not a lot to say, possibly you'd feel cold if your body'd adapted to a higher base temperature. (?) Copper, I have no idea, I don't even know how it would work. Bronze, this one could be fun in two different ways depending on if tiredness is consistent or has a gradual buildup (oh, wait, it builds up gradualy). So, firstly, it would be like TLR's age trick, over time more would need to be expended for the same effect, secondly then, this would lead to either a point where it breaks even, ending in a "crash" as tiredness overtakes wakefullness or just to a point where you have to do like a normal human and sleep. But if we assume that it can be kept going for long enough, it might be possible that the body/mind wouldn't notice that it was tired and you could easily run yourself into the ground. Cadmium, I'm not sure, possibly you would become oxygen depraved. (?) Or maybe your body would have "done away" with the breathing reflex. (Now that's FREAKY). Bendalloy (aka Cerrobend), I guess maybe your body would stop craving nutrition or fluid. (As above FREAKY) Or possibly you would not get hungy or thirsty but still require nutrition or fluid. Gold, I've already touched on this one a bit with the Miles part up there. Now here is some more. I think that the body's natural healing would be "disengaged", I mean, why waste energy on something that isn't being used (same principle as with the muscles earlier)? I also think that you would get sick really easily *Warbreaker Spoiler* like Vivenna after she loses all the Breath *End Spoiler* because your immune system wouldn't have had to take care of any threats and thus it would be less than stellar. (You'd go from best in the world to worse than avarage, more or less) Electrum: I'd assume that your body would get used to the manic state (since those things are controlled by chemicals in your body, so like your body could get used to certain medicines and drugs, it could probably get used to this). So this is another one with something similar to gradual buildup, I think that you'd then gradually slide into a depressed state or if you stopped completly you'd get hit with a massive depression. Chromium, not much to say, infinite luck would be neat, but that's material for another post. Negative effect? Relying on luck you don't have? Maybe? Nicrosil, too many unknowns I'd say. Don't get me started ranting about this one. I'll talk about its possibilities for awesome sometime. Negative effects would vary, only "certain" one would be nicrosil savantism. (If that even is negative) Aluminum, would this even be possible? Not gonna write some grand theory about it before it's confirmed that it's actually possible. Duralumin, see chromium, replace "luck" with "connection" more or less. Next time (if there is one): Me ranting about how cool nicrosil Feruchemy is...
