  1. Watership Down. Did want to see this as a kid but never did.
  2. Watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Haven’t seen it since it was in theaters.
  3. I work at the admin office of a charter school and am currently helping one of the IT guys unload COWs, computers on wheels to move them between classrooms, and one thing I can’t figure out is why the laptops make our hands feel waxy after touching a few of them and I mean waxy like handling a giant box of crayons and letting them melt in your hands.
  4. Now watching Tokyo Olympiad. This is the film about the 1964 Olympic Games. Not really a sports person but I like the Olympics and documentaries well enough.
  5. I think Emperor’s Soul is after Elantris but before Elantris 2.
  6. Watching the Criterion Collection edition of Hitchcock’s Spellbound.
  7. Finished listening to both River Song Series 2 and Classic Doctors, New Monsters Volume 1. Both good sets where River is unraveling a mystery of an Earth appearing in the ‘present’ having experienced a time anomaly apocalypse while the other was Doctors 5-8 encountering monsters that appeared starting with the 9th. The monsters in question are Weeping Angels (I liked how they adapted them to audio), Judoon (tied for my favorite story), Sycarax (tied for my favorite story) and a double whammy of the modern Sontarans and the Time War. The Time War is significant to note since this was the first set Big Finish started to legally mention it, instead of skirting close to the line, but it wasn’t released until after a couple other things that mentioned it.
  8. Just listened to the other story in The Third Doctor Adventures Volume 2. This story is called The Hidden Realm and is a “people in village being replaced/hypnotized” story. It was pretty good and currently listening to the BTS disc talking about both stories. The next thing I’m thinking of listening to is The Diary of River Song Series 2.
  9. Going on a Big Finish listening spree I guess. Next release is The Third Doctor Adventures Volume 2. Only listened to the first story, The Transcendence of Ephros, and it’s a cult story where the leader was influenced by the main adversary of the Doctor. Tomorrow I’m going to listen to the other story in this set before moving onto the other two box sets I have.
  10. Listening to an audio play of The Invisible Man staring the late John Hurt.
  11. Listening to an audio play of The Invisible Man staring the late John Hurt.
  12. If you could move anywhere where exactly would you want to live? For me I’ve got 4 different places I’d choose to live. The first is moving back to the LA area where I was from originally. The second is the Orlando area since I love the area. The only downside would be the summer heat since I already hate the summer heat in Texas. The Third would be New York since I liked being in the city when I was there for vacation. The final one would be England. I feel very in touch with my England ancestry and I love the culture so much. The only major hurtles though would be the whole citizenship thing where I would have to pay taxes to the States and some companies I order from wouldn’t ship there so I’d have to figure out an effective middleman solution to that. Then there would be the whole shipping everything across the pond which I imagine isn’t cheap. I’d probably only move here whenever I’m completely fed up with how things here was going.
  13. Currently watching The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy BBC miniseries.
  14. Finished Skyward about an hour ago. Definitely a pretty good book, and considering I’m not really into aircraft stuff or much of a fan of child soldier stories shows how much Brandon can make any type of story interesting. Going to start Starsight tomorrow and see where Spensa goes.
  15. Almost done with Skyward, currently in the sanderlanche, so I should be on Starsight this weekend if I choose to finish tonight or not.
  16. I think it’s far more interesting for a fantasy world to evolve instead of being stagnant for a millennia, though if it’s traditional fantasy style I think keeping it away from urban fantasy is best. I don’t mean don’t have computers and phones, just don’t have it be a gritty world that just happens to have fantasy creatures living there.
  17. Just listened to the soundtrack to Six twice. Really good and definitely better than Hamilton. The praise I always hear about Hamilton I felt described Six better. I loved Jane Seymour’s song so much! To show how I feel about the music between the two musicals: I could listen to Six’s soundtrack on repeat. Hamilton I can barely get through a whole song. You know a musical sucks if a musical fan can’t get through the music at all.
  18. Well the Wedge stuff is in line with the original, they just added more to him to make you actually care about him. I also think in Japan it’s not considered insensitive to do fat jokes because it goes more in the mindset of “OMG that’s true! I’m just like that” type of humor where you can laugh at yourself. I do like they made Aerith more of an offensive character while still keeping her in line with how she was in the original. Kind of sad how many people just go “they changed too much! Aerith isn’t pure anymore. Why is Tifa shy? Why does Sephiroth have a wing that was introduced in Kingdom Hearts?” but 90% of those complaints can be countered with “did you even play the original or the rest of the Compilation? Aerith was never pure, Tifa was always a bit shy and the wing was shown in Advent Children and Crisis Core” so it makes you wonder if those complainers are fans of FF7 or just fans of the perceived version of FF7 where Cloud is a badass loner, Aerith the Incorruptible and Tifa the Bruiser.
  19. It’s getting ridiculous the political side of this. The republicans keep trying to get bills through to help the businesses and families that don’t have the money to pay bills, rent and other necessities but the democrats, mostly Pelosi, keep delaying them because of Trump. With the stuff I keep hearing it’s almost like the Democratic Party needs to be disbanded just to keep us all safe. Cant they just stop all this politicking for the sake of the nation? They can resume it once the pandemic is over.
  20. When you realize vacation overlaps with a new release making you try to figure out whether to buy it while on vacation or after you return. Experiencing this one since Stormlight 4 comes out the day before my vacation starts.
  21. Watched a Universal Horror Collection set containing the Karloff Lugosi films The Black Cat, The Raven, The Invisible Ray and Black Friday. They practically trade off who’s the hero and who’s the villain and they’re great actors to watch. There’s a pretty good four part documentary about these guys plus two radio adaptations of them reading Tell Tale Heart. Calling the set Universal Horror is a bit of a misnomer since only the first two are straight horror while the other two have a mad scientist story, Invisible Ray being more sci-fi and Black Friday being a gangster. Heck it’s generous calling the final film a Karloff Lugosi film since Lugosi has a minor role with the title role being Stanley Ridge.
  22. Having my first non home cooked meal today!
  23. It’s still an RPG, it’s just part 1 of the entire project since the scale they’re going for is too big if they released it as a full remake in one package. Heck they even stated before that if they did it in one package, having the entire game like before, they would’ve had to cut a lot out just to have it be available. It would be like if Brandon had to rewrite Era 1 as a single book that was the same length or the entirety of Stormlight as a trilogy. Theres enough new, expanded stuff to make you appreciate and love the characters again. You actually get to know who Jessie, Biggs and Wedge are like instead of them just being redshirts. There are new moments with the entire cast that really makes you love them over again, like Aerith and Tifa having fast friend moments. Areas of Midgar that were just pass through areas, like Train Graveyard, have a story to them now. There are even references to stuff that was introduced in Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus and even the novels. Then there’s a semi-new game plus where you can play through the game again with your team and unlock the other options of some moments like the dresses for the Don Corneo part and the additional enemies unlocked by beating the ‘final’ boss. Then there’s hard mode where you can find additional stuff to 100% the game. Since we don’t know if there’s going to be any DLC we only have to look forward to patches and when they announce Part 2. When they do announce it I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually spoil the ending since it’s different from how the Midgar section ended in the original unless you plan on avoiding any spoilers on all the new stuff until whatever the final number will be for the next decade?
  24. Finished Final Fantasy 7 Remake and I loved it. Others might have a problem with the ending but it makes me intrigued and interested to know what’s being planned for the rest of the story. Heck all the boss fights in the endgame were cool and awesome to fight and really had me try to figure out a different tactic like the new version of the Rufus fight.
  25. Wait till you get to the Wall Market events, they’re even sillier than the original events! Currently at the pillar collapse event so the only major events to see are the Shinra HQ infiltration events. I hope that Square announces work being started on Part 2 around when E3 was supposed to happen.
