If you (and your opponent, of course) don’t want to use this system, that’s fine! As long as BOTH sides are ok to use a different system, go ahead! This just prevents things like godmodding and makes things a little more structured, I did this as a result of my duel with @LopenTheTwoArmedHerdazian, which just felt messy, people were getting ninja’d, we had full control over all of our attacks, which will lead to a long cycle of attack, counter, attack, counter

When no one responds to your who’s that cosmere Clue 2: ising of doing the dying in words of radiance -
100% agree with these statements, as well as @MacThorstenson‘s post

Oh sorry. I though I mentioned that. I as well, want to just call them referees? Or judges?

So after making the rules of warfare and the guide to alley combat, we need some moderators to judge the outcomes of duels and assassinations. there are three types of moderators, they all shoul Non-bias: people who join this type must cut off all ties to any guilds involved with the alley-verse, they can judge all fights and make some important rules decisions, at least SOME experience with the alley-verse is required Bias: people who join this can still be affiliated with guilds, but cannot moderate actions between any guild that you are in. for example, lets say @LopenTheTwoArmedHerdazian wants to become a bias moderator, he cannot moderate a fight between the DA and the LA because he is part of the DA, but CAN moderate a fight between tCoC and the ghostbloods, because he is not affiliated with either guild. Rep's: each guild can nominate 1 or 2 members to be a rep, they can still fight, but they can't moderate, they (along with the leaders of each guild) help make decisions on the alley-wars rules, record deaths (who is dead, and who has been revived) and assassinations. Non-bias people are non-combatants, therefore they cannot kill or be killed. Bias people and reps can be killed, but that will not stop them from being able to moderate.

So after talking in the rules of warfare thread, @Mraize, @Archer and me have come up with how the combat system should work when A fight breaks out, each person starts with a certain amount of HP (lets say, 100 for now) it's turn-based combat, with the moderator deciding who gets to go first. the person who goes first gets to attack/move first, they can do up to three actions (other effects can increase this limit, like feruchemical speeds). Possible actions include: Making an attack Moving more than 20 meters in any direction Saying things over 50 words long Bonus actions include: Saying things less than 50 words moving less than 20 metres Burning/tapping metals Breathing in stormlight the person who goes second gets a reaction and three actions the reaction must happen before any other actions can be made. Once the first action has been called, the moderator describes it, and the second player must react, then counter, which the moderator then describes, the moderator chooses how he decides the outcome, suggested decision-making processes include: 1. Dice rolls (similar to D&D) 2. Most likely outcome the moderator then subtracts the HP from the players and makes "debuffs" (like bleeding, concussed, unconscious, etc) then the cycle repeats until one of the players either yields, (in case of a duel) dies or is knocked out. the moderator will then pronounce the outcome of the fight, and then the fight ends. of course, there are many variations, it's not just a single recipe, so the moderator may change up the rules a bit, especially in mass or team combat. so moderators, use your descretion!

so, back with the scenario: Person A: I shoot Person B in the leg Moderator: Person B is not fast enough to dodge a bullet, and is close enough that it is less than likely to miss, so he is hit in the leg, losing 12/100 HP, being given the "wounded" debuff (-2hp each turn, and -2 to physical attacks involving the injured leg) this scenario would make sense as it shows the HP from an RP perspective, and makes the fights more understandable with turn-based combat. I'll make a thread on alleyverse combat
-
that is something we have to decide, if we want to use a HP system or use moderator estimation
-
of course, but you'd think it would go without saying not to god-mod. usually the person just describes the attack, lets the other person respond, and if it collides describes the effect. like so: Person A: I cast aon sheo, Aon sheo flies off towards Person B Person B: I attempt to block aon sheo Person A (or Mediator): The gleaming red Aon hits person B, doing (either) x points of damage (or) it begins to feel hot, then explodes with red light, hurting Person B

I 100% agree with this. The House of Representatives sound like a fantastic idea, as does the meditator faction, though it is unlikely that we would get members for the unbiased faction

The duels system is similar to that on roshar, where the terms are decided before the duel, my duel with Lopen is that whoever Yields, is incopacitated or dies, loses. as to the effects of death, it’s just a 1 week period where you can’t murder or recruit, others in your guild still can
-
Ok, I like the idea that they must have no public relation to the guild
-
Will do. Shall I make a “referee” thread where people can sign up?
-
Agreed, I will add the non-combatant feature and that the good of the 17th shard comes first, are there any other rules that you would like to add or dispute?
-
You make a fair point! Well from what I have seen in the assassinations, nothing seems to HAPPEN when people actually die which in itself kills the intrigue of the entire thing, of course, you can still save yourself from assassinations by outthinking your opponent, this just incorporates some more RP aspects, i still very much intend to keep it casual, but we still need to know what we are doing
-
I see, I suggest all nominees are made public on this thread. I nominate @The Forgetful Archivist to be a canton of combat representative, this shouldn't limit members, they just have to keep track of those who die, and that rules are kept

ok I found this thread and I feel like being evil, so not only is this going to be really hard, it's also going to be in high imperial! 1. Ising of being in fourth bridge -
It should only apply to people who are participating in the alley verse, like the DA, the CoC and the ghostbloods A coalition sounds good, each guild nominates a member?

"ah that makes sense" Nohadon replies, why wasn't he inside the shield? he lays his hand on the shield, and feels a strange well of investiture from it, he keeps holding it, then takes out a blank card. nicrocil. allowing him to store investiture, and starts the storing process on the shield
-
Nohadon sighs "I've finally lost my patience" he says, annoyed, he draws a card ace of boots "Aon tia" he mutters. teleporting inside the shield and taking Lopen's tea, and downing it in one gulp, he grins at lopen, and lashes him to the wall of the shield
-
"fair point" he says, the aon must have worn off. an idea flashed in his head, he took a deep breath of stormlight and infused the shield with stormlight
-
"and how would I do that?"
-
"yes, how would I weaken the shield"
