  1. Until pattern asks for her final truth! Pattern: "Speak the truth..." Shallan: "NO!" Pattern: "Do it. You must. Remember..." Shallan: "I....I...I like JAM" Radiant max level complete. Amusing how truthberry jam, if it works as claimed, would be oh so very useful to a Lightweaver... oh Kabsal you jammy b*****d! CONCRETE proof that Kabsal is the true hero of the Stormlight archive. Confirmed. Unarguably correct.
  2. @Yata @Calderis @The One Who Connects Thanks for clearing that up for me! In this case then, I assume something similar to Calderis’ suggestion. Unsure of exactly how it would work as I don’t think it will mimic the ‘dead’ shardblades identically, but something similar none the less. Now I’m going to go off on a very uninformed trail of thought. Literally sat here eating toast and free thinking. So stay with me, correct me where I’m wrong and be awed by my brilliant ignorance! Warbreaker spoilers so not sure if Im supposed to hide them. So lets hide them.
  3. If you have enough investiture don't you become a cognitive shadow? I'm assuming with the amount of investiture Nightblood has he would qualify for that?
  4. 1) Some Purelaker lucky fish stew! Remember, it needs to be a lucky fish! 2) Rocks stew (upgraded). Heavily flavored, dark with plenty of root vegetables I imagine, with some cheap stewing steak that will absorb all the flavours but still give some bridgeman chew and substance! The upgrade hints to perhaps something crunchy (topped with croutons?) to simulate shells! 3) Kaladins tallew 'Child food' he receives when dining with Roshone. I imagine this to be similar to Moroccan food, lightly spiced rice with strong fruity tastes from apricots etc. 4) Kabsal's 'Truthberry' Jam. Perhaps a mixture between stawberry and raspberry (I don't know if that's possible). 5) Brightlords modesty. Spiced kebabs with multiple meats and vegetables showing their access to exotic things. Sprinkled with pomegranate seeds that look like little ruby chips.
  5. I also had a dream about the cosmere, although I was in a bar drinking many different "colours" of wine when Brightlord Justine Timberlake came in and he bested me at a game of Hearthstone.. needless to say I was amused when I woke up but couldn't find anyone to tell that wouldn't think me completely insane. Until now, Hello 17th Shard! I think your dream was much better and informative. It could work, good dreaming!
  6. I tried for 20 mins to come up with a great one.. instead could only think of a short one about Honor, Cultivation and Odium which the Vorin religion would probably call heresy but none the less. Two were reigning gods Until peace ended and war The violent third Violent the war and ended peace Until gods reigning were two.
  7. That's a really interesting point that I haven't thought about before... Plate is cultivated.. Huh. Nice!
  8. Brandon and his cryptically short answers! Great stuff though. I think it's kind of like engines and fuel. Stormlight = Fuel. Spren and the Bond = An engine. A surgebinder has access to fuel, and an shaping of output in the bond (the engine) to allow them to perform certain abilities. It funnels the investiture in a certain way to be more 'useful' just as fuel is burned in a specific way inside a piece of machinery to produce another result beyond just an explosion. The explosions energy is funneled and shaped to produce motion through a complex make up of bits and bobs turning things and pushing things etc. (I'm not a mechanic, can you tell? ). Someone who just has access to stormlight through holes in the web but no bond has a load of fuel, with no way of shaping it. So they just create an explosion of energy, I ASSUME is similar to increased speed, strength etc. that Kaladin has felt, and it will heal their own wounds. Otherwise they have no extra powers or such. Still pretty kick chull though, might lead into some Vasher fighting some surgebinders and actually doing quite well for himself matching their speed, strength, skill, etc. just missing surges. Interesting
  9. Its made out of Adonalsium Must be a reason (OH MUST THERE?!) for it to sound like a metal!
  10. I’ve seen many people, normally exceptional at what they do, perform worse than someone with no training because their minds were somewhere else, depressed and off their game. People who would normally stun you with skill reduced to average untrained ability. Of course, there is no specific WoB that can confirm either way, so perhaps someone should ask next time we have the opportunity. Until then, let the friendly debates continue!
  11. They don't know they are dead spren. To them, they are powerful weapons in a time of conflicts. The circumstances don't allow it to be moral or immoral, as to them it is material item and nothing more. If, when they find out what they truly are, they still use them, then we can discuss whether they are morally just or not. In many instances you can claim that they should have researched more, been more aware or asked more questions, etc. However in this situation, the knowledge has been lost and there is no one to ask (known). What else are they to think? Now, knowing what they are, do I think it is right to use them? It depends on the scenario. In a general sense? IMO, no. Would you carry around a sharpened thigh bone of a dead guy as a weapon? Despite the fact it makes for an excellent stabbing implement? No, especially if it offends those of whom you wish to remain in good thought of. (i.e. Spren hate the thought). HOWEVER, if you are backed into a corner, fighting for your life and you need a weapon, look around and find that bone spear, you're going to use that thing and use it well. Hell, the relatives (spren in this instance) might even find it comforting that their dead relative still managed to protect after their demise. It's all about situation and perspective. Well, that or i'm an overly analytical person with high empathy yet low sympathy levels.
  12. I think I'm going to become a KR. Or at least I keep telling myself that...
  13. Sets up for a typical bad guy story: Bad guy can't be killed, so the hero's trap them inside metal/rock/etc. No one is ever allowed to set foot on the premises. Years and years go by, and either people slowly forget or a large world event happens and the knowledge of the place disappears. One day some young kids are playing and stumble on this area. They accidentally damage or 'crack' the stone/metal or something of the sorts and the evil guy gets out as he is miraculously still alive, narrative similar to Illidan from Warcraft when hes been imprisoned, to terrorize the world once more. Kids grow up to find the knowledge that he is a gold compounder and defeat the evil by trapping him again, and the cycle repeats.
  14. As @Calderis has already alluded to, not all had the primary function of fighting as such. War (in its grand sense) yes, fighting no. Like modern military structures, all would be taught to fight (and fight well especially as they can all hold stormlight and so I assume move similar to the speed, strength and enhancement Kaladin has felt). However they would then 'specialise' into their specific areas, such as medics, engineers, scouts, etc and while some orders would further develop their fighting and destructive ability, becoming elite infantry etc. Although, there is definitely something more than meets the eye happening with Renarin. Obviously, I could also be completely wrong about all of it, and Jasnah too. I can't wait to find out!
  15. Maybe they realised that running an army of super humans cost a lot of money and supplies. Also, Radiant's didn't have honorblades and therefore needed a lot of Stormlight. Stormlight is stored in gems, which is the currency. Probably needed quite a lot of stormlight to wage war against a relentless foe, and that power comes, coincidentally from the global currency. Undoubtedly there was probably some corruption going on, as that is always the way with humans, but also I reckon an extortionate amount was needed just to supply their powers. which in turn they used to 'save the world'. How do we do this 'fairly'? We offer more convenient technology and abilities and charge a fee. Eventually someone thinks, mmmm money, and raises the price to line their pockets also.
  16. Ah a shame, but thanks! Time for more outlandish claims on what caused it... hmmmm... i'll do some thinking!
  17. Agreed - I may have worded poorly if that's what you think I was implying. What I was trying to say is that, agreed as you have already said you can only kill the vessel and splinter it so no one can pick it up. The honourblades if I am not mistaken are not the power itself, rather a conduit to the power. Technically, even if only in a small way, people can still 'pick up' the power through these conduits. Odium, being the hatred that he is, may desire the complete redundancy as far as possible, and may charge some underling with destroying these conduits removing the ability for people to 'pick up' some of the power. Or splintering the swords into useless parts etc. My mind likes to suggest crazy and wild things with no back up, so it's just thought of another one! Maybe the shattered plains were created by shattering of an honorblade... we know the stoneshamans have them but did it say ALL of them? That would be cool. Doubt it though, i'm just rambling.
  18. Agreed, its extremely powerful and impressive. Interestingly, investiture becomes available to the radiant through the bond in the 'cracked' spirit web. I wonder if that this means that the gravitation and adhesion surge resonance has to do with pulling (gravitation) the spirit webs towards the radiants and then binding them in some way (adhesion) together allowing investiture to flow into them also despite not having a bond in a cracked spirit web.. This would need to be someone with a strong connection, which would suggest family would absolutely be available to it in my opinion. I. Love. This. Universe. And. Its. Magic.
  19. They worship a dead god in name, but another god is actually influencing them. Makes you wonder if the Purelaker's are onto something with their religion? Sure it has differences, but as Jasnah and Shallan believe - all myths and stories are born from truths.
  20. I generally seem to be wrong as I forget particular details often, but here's my thought - We know that to become a radiant/surgebinder you need to have a cracked spirit web, generally caused by some kind of serious emotional/other trauma. That new gap in the spirit web is allowed to be filled by a spren, who provides the individual with a gateway/access/bridge for investiture to flow through, allowing them to surgebind. With Kaladin, it seems to me that every time he has sworn a new oath, he has been suffering some kind of trauma, generally a combination of physical, emotional and (I don't know what to call this one so) 'personalitial'. I'll explain my new sexy word and my reasoning - Kaladin is a very conflicted person. He wants to do the right thing, but, due to many reasons, has extreme biases and prejudices. Despite where they came from, how they came about and his honorable struggle to try to do what is right, they ARE now a part of him. That is what he is. It may change over a long period of time, but currently they are a part of him as much as his skin. Now, despite these defining and strong personality traits, he always ends up eventually going against them and doing the right thing. He goes against what his own mind stands for, and casts aside his own 'self' to do the right thing. I think this might crack his spirit web even further, as what else would damage you more in a 'personalitial' way than going against yourself, that deep dark you in the center that only you know. Through this expansion in the cracks but the bond growing stronger simultaneously, it actually allows more investiture to flow in as the bond expands into these 'gaps', at a faster rate and a larger quantity, resulting in a temporary surge in investiture acting like some kind of arcane explosion. The others don't seem to be going against what they are, rather continuing their current deeds and ways about the world etc. Thus no more cracking, and no big boom. Which is better? We've seen it work well for Kaladin, but the lasting effects of further breaking your spirit web? Who knows, it could be bad. Really bad. Or it could be weirdly good and allow him to do even more cool stuff. Let me know what you think and where I am terribly mistaken and thus need to learn. I like learning
  21. So, Odium went and killed honour, shattered him. Perhaps destroyed his soul. However we know there are 10 pieces of his soul still intact with the Honourblades. Do these have any potential or impact? Maybe, maybe not. The implications if they are somehow little pieces of honour that still 'live on' are large.. Odium may even need a champion to hunt down and systematically destroy all the blades, to remove honour completely?
  22. A Bondsmist or Mistrunner!
  23. I like this one, and had a similar thoughts. I think he will seek out the Nightwatcher, either while in exile or through shame. He will ask something along the lines of "Let me help the world, I want to redeem myself. Let my talents and anger help rather than damage". Nightwatcher will revive the spren in his blade. Adolin will come back as a radiant, at a particularly deadly and important bit, and save/surprise the group with radiant skills. They will grudgingly accept him back as they will realise they need everyone that they can get and adolin is an artist with the blade. His boon will come to light, and when asked what his curse was, he will claim he doesn't know and doesn't think he got one. Que Sadeas to walk back in, resurrected as adolin curse and also impervious to shardblades (not a radiant though) making him have nothing to fear from adolin.
  24. Due to the complex nature of the Cosmere and Stormlight Archive, it would be quite difficult to do many styles of game without compromise (i.e. Strategy without compromising on unit abilities as that would become too complex with things blowing up, people flying, other people setting everything on fire etc) It would be too chaotic in my opinion to control. What I think could excel is a 3rd person style, assassins creed-ish style game. Something that allows you the freedom to go off where you want, but heavily relies and focuses on the story (which is what stormlight is all about). I feel that would work quite well, if you had different paths for each of the radiant factions, different campaigns but all following the same route. Perhaps even the same situations but in the different orders eyes, letting us understand them better too! And a secret unlockable mission where you can become a voidbringer and go delightfully evil for a small period.... Not only would it be fun, it would have enourmous replay value through wanting to play it again and again as different factions with new and exciting abilities and different agendas. That feels more plausible than the mmo to me as the mmo will encounter similar problems to strategy, with too much going on. You'd either have to massively scale down numbers/reduce ability power/input restrictions that take away some of the epicness. Although I would love it too as an mmo fan, I can't see it happening. Although now I think it through a Destiny style game with so many different abilities and everyone bouncing around destroying stuff just sounds so epic. I must think on this further..
