  1. That kind of plays into the theory that a Knight Radiant created his or her shardblade/plate after saying the last Oath. It's a pretty popular one. However, I don't see Brandon doing that because Syl is too much of a real character to end up as just a silent, powerful weapon. More likely, the spren were the source of the shards but didn't actually become them.
  2. It's hinted at in a few of her chapters in TWoK. She mentions "ten heartbeats" multiple times, as well as "the fruit of her greatest sin." Then in one of the released WoR chapters she talks about a "bright, silvery blade" and lots of corpses. I'll find the quote later, maybe. EDIT: Bah, ninja'd! Also: If Shallan is betrothed to Adolin, who is supposed to be gathering Shardplate from the highprinces, would it be too much to speculate that she might end up as a full shardbearer eventually?
  3. Soulcasters mess that up too. Bread will cost less when you can make it out of air when necessary.
  4. No, the value of gems in Vorin lands is based on what they can Soulcast. Thus emerald, which can make food, is at the top.
  5. A curse upon whomever decided to bring the word "ship" into the vocabulary of this fandom. I get annoyed enough at my HP and PJO fandom-people using it. I will find you. I will load you into a cannon on the deck of a pirate ship boat. And I will use incredible Dustbringer powers to light the fuse.
  6. AWESOME!! Maybe I'll move to Japan for college just for that.
  7. Somebody get Satsu a Cray supercomputer. Now.
  8. DANGIT I WANT THE NEXT KALADIN CHAPTER!!! I spent the last book infuriated that Kaladin had only figured out his Pressure surge and hadn't done anything with Gravity; now I'm biting my nails to see when he finally figures out he can fly!
  9. I've suspected that for a while. After all, order 10's surges are Pressure (used to BIND things together) and Surface Tension (also a form of bond). It made a lot of sense to me.
  10. Is the chart online somewhere? I don't have the hardback version of the book.
  11. I'm confused. Are you referring to Atium?
  12. Brandon's ways are deep and mysterious. It does little good to try to predict his future. You must learn to live within the moment, focusing on the Living Force and trying to read the deep Adonalsioid secrets. It is the only way.
  13. Was that a typo or on purpose?
  14. I think that there are different types or levels of Forgotten. The one attached to Harding was closer to the surface, so to speak, so it was vulnerable to the acid. The one in Nalizar is deeper down or more powerful, so it isn't affected.
  15. Also, don't we see the gods in Warbreaker (or at least Lightsong) constantly thinking about Endowing on someone else the divine Breath they have? That would mean they are also influenced toward their shard's intent by the massive investiture they have.

    Ruin and Atium

Probably too small of fish for an all-powerful being like him to fry. He was going for the larger prize first.
  17. When Marasi and Wayne were talking about their powers cancelling each other out, I though of this cool idea. A cadmium bubble is bigger than a bendalloy bubble, so if you made a bendalloy bubble inside a cadmium bubble, wouldn't you get a dome of slow time around another dome of regular time (the area where the bubbles cancel each other out)? Sounds like a force field to me. Bullets go in and get frozen in time, but you can move and react normally inside the inner dome.
  18. Another part went up, so I edited it into the OP. Here it is: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/11/12/manly-honor-part-iv-the-gentlemen-and-the-roughs-the-stoic-christian-code-of-honor-in-the-american-north/
  19. Being who I am, I highly advocate converting to Sliverism. Besides, who doesn't want to worship the most awesome god of death ever?
  20. I was browsing a site that a friend directed me to when I stumbled upon this very interesting and very detailed essay on the concept of honor. I'll provide the links below. Part 1: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/10/01/manly-honor-part-i-what-is-honor/ Part 2: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/10/16/manly-honor-part-ii-the-decline-of-traditonal-honor-ancient-greece-to-the-romantic-period/ Part 3: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/11/06/honor-during-victorian-era/ Part 4: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/11/12/manly-honor-part-iv-the-gentlemen-and-the-roughs-the-stoic-christian-code-of-honor-in-the-american-north/ There are more to come, so I'll just edit them in when they're written. And now, discuss!
  21. Cap'n Zas! Their sails are exposed! Bring out the chain shot!
  22. I'm a Twinawesome. What else would you pick?
  23. What about a playing card deck? You could have the face cards be metals.
  24. Your chemistry knowledge is abysmal. Strontium point: why does the flame color make it lame? Calcium point: you ingest the METAL form, which is not in milk. NaCl is a compound, not an alloy. You need to mix it with a substance to create an alloy, not chemically bond it with one. Same for Sodium valproate.
