@Extesian @Yata Lol I didn't know the Forums had a filter (it inserted Rust!) I love this.
-
rust I was thinking terminal velocity would increase too, but you're right! damnation! But yes an Honorbladed Lift would be greased lightning

You make a false assumption here. That he is flying. He isn't. He's FALLING! lol The G force wouldn't hurt him in the way you think because its not like a pilot being thrust through the air with extreme vibrations wracking his spine all the along. its someone who has the exact same force (gravity) being exerted on their entire body. It is different then being hit by something. The main problem with g's being exerted on the body is change in direction, turning and vibration can really screw up the spine. But if you can control the amount of force acting upon you I imagine it would be easy to gauge how much you could take, then increase it gradually (Especially once he gets shardplate)

How do you know Roshar has a lesser gravity? (Ars Arcanum?) Also a Radiant could probably handle the force of the winds relatively easily while infused with stormlight.
-
The average terminal velocity of a skydiver is 120mph... so assuming Kaladin quadruple lashes himself in a direction he could travel nearly 500 miles an hour. Now all we need is a scale for Roshar, and we can know how fast he can get to Alethkar (once we figure out the rate of stormlight consumption and how much stormlight he can hold and use before getting sick from it)
-
But the Lightweaving includes the entire wave spectrum not just light and sound. Microwave! I'm still sticking with Stoneward. Tension and Cohesion are probably going to be amaingly badass.

My problem isn't that they gave up. My problem is that they left someone behind, and then didn't even have the decency to hold the world (Or THEMSELVES) together in his absence.

I'm not sure the cannibalism analogy works, its a much different kind of betrayal. Its not like the sailors made an all powerful magical oath with their 9 best friends that they would endure the hunger

A brief theory on the Shadesmar Sun
Radiant_Jaeger replied to Darkness's topic in Stormlight Archive
Why would their shadows go the opposite way? The stormlight is light in both realms so shouldn't the shadow be the same? -
I hate the Heralds. From stupid self deprecating Shallash to abusive and misled Naln. Every single one of them is a traitor of the highest magnitude that deserves a fate worse than Sadeas, after not only did they abandon a friend to a fate far worse than death, they LIED about it. No. No forgiveness for Naln after Edgedancer from THIS angry reader. Only Taln is exempt from my anger, someone who held out for 4500 years of torture suffering the fate of TEN people, but for one man... I can't WAIT for him to come to his senses, because he's going to have one HELL of a problem with those who left him behind. Can someone please give me a reason that they should not be universally reviled by every single reader of the SA!? Pity is not acceptable in my opiion, I wouldn't have care if they had ALL given up the Oathpact, but they left Taln behind. Sacrificed him, while they went on to have their minds break NOT because of 4500 years of torture, but because they were just too irresponsible and stupid to hold it together. *Takes deep breaths* I could be wrong, but since we have a WoB that says I don't know why they deserve anything good coming to them.

Only if we are on earth since there's no stormlight so we'd have to be able to use food, but on roshar, I imagine a chubby edgedancer would be known as the STORMBALL (instead of stormwall!) *Dies of laughter at bad puns*

That last bit interests me, because could you become so flexible that you're essentially a living person made of rubber? Able to bounce off walls like a dodgeball!? Lol I'm having fun with this.. I don't get why there isn't a Heat surge though... Or is division just that (molecules moving at a rapid rate creating heat and fire) Anyway I'd love to see how fast Kaladin can actully travel. because gravity 9.8 meters per second squared. So when he does a double lashing is it 19.6 meters per second? or is it 96 meters.. (does it multiply or just add more to the accelaration.) And how would Terminal velocity act upon multiple lashings?! Gah I'm in total nerd mode.

The Nightwatcher and the Heralds
Radiant_Jaeger replied to Paladin Brewer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Wait, the stormfather is just Tanavast's spren isn't he? (Now he's gained Honor's cognitive shadow as well but that is because of his death.) So isn't the Nightwatcher Cultivation's spren? I like this more than the Nightwatcher actually BEING cultivation because we've had enough of that in Mistborn. I like the fact that she likes Lift so much too. (Although we still dont really know what her curse is or if she even received one) -
This would be cool because they could use sound too and create flash bangs. I can't wait to see some of the more destructive powers like division and tension. @The One Who Connects So division is fairly obvious in its essence but what do you think Tension and Cohesion end up being? I believe that it will allow a sort of super strength. Increase the tension of the muscles and skin making them resistant to physical blows and able to lift more while in shardplate. Lightweaving lasers will most likely be used in the form of redirecting the sun's light and focusing it magnifying glass style. #parshmen ants

I am actually hoping for some Jasnah and someone completely unexpected... one of the bridgemen. Lighteyes and Dark eyes needs to be done (also Kal doesn't count since Radiant eyes) Also could do with a little less prudishness. It's getting really annoying to the point where I don't even think Alethi remove their clothes to have kids... I like Lift and Renarin though. Polar opposites attract
-
@Extesian Nice lead to gold analogy. That makes sense. Could Kaladin make himself way more and gain super strength (or would that be like DBZ gravity training) Also I'm interested to see how fast Lift can go because if she makes herself completely frictionless and continues accelerating she can basically be the Flash. no microwaved Budcorn for the people of roshar then. Damnation Brandon!

theory An Possible Explanation for Taravangian's Diagram
Radiant_Jaeger replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Stormlight Archive
You risked too much. That would make the wish completely useless which we know doesn't happen because of the one character who works for talks about the old magic and how the NightWatcher doesn't twist your words for the wish. You get what you wish for is what I understood this to be. -
YES! So that means they create gravity not manipulate it.
-
Lol wrong person for the tag (I argued with him about Adolin's moral status in a thread right before this) Also killing more than 500 people in one day with one weapon is wmd to me. (At least in medieval esque societies)
-
So no Rosharin WMDs? ); other than shardbearers and szeth. @The One Who Connects it wouldn't make sense if it was just light and sound though it has to be the whole spectrum Could a windrunner lash himself in space? (Granting him a survival suit of some sort). Or do Surges act upon existing forces?

theory An Possible Explanation for Taravangian's Diagram
Radiant_Jaeger replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Stormlight Archive
Just to add a thought Taravangian didnt wish for enough Intelligence to save the world, he wished for the capacity to save the world. We dont know if this is apathetic genius or dull compassion or through his actions the acts of others (basically helping He world by uniting it against himself) Capacity can be anything -
@Yata I wonder if the storm father would have issues with Dalinar using an honorblade.. maybe he'd think that only the heralds should be using them which would also be interesting for Kaladin and Syl's relationship if he kept the sword. Would she get jealous?

This is meant to begin a discussion on how the surges work with and against physics and other means. Obviously windrunners and lightweavers will be the prime candidates since we have the most source material available. I pose this question. Does a Windrunner who has made themselves lighter by using a quarter lashing upward (thus halving their weight) still carry the same force behind their blows? mass x acceleration says that they do since they don't actually shed mass just weight... I think. Also could lightweavers microwave food? They control both sound waves and photons so is it the entire spectrum of waves?

I get so mad at the Radiants and Heralds... nothing is worse than a traitor!

What do you think the Nightwatcher looks like?
Radiant_Jaeger replied to Ciridae's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it would be cool if she took on the appearance of a young girl, I imagine Lift and her being BFFs playing tag or something
