Hey folks, sorry, I'm still here... Been home sick for a few days. Great job getting at shane. I'll try to catch up on everything else.
-
The vote manipulation this turn doesn't make sense to me. Clearly a vote was moved from Alv to Kidpen. However, the only person to vote on Kidpen was Bard...who was lynched...and could have not been lynched...then again, Bard could have just moved over to the Alv train and potentially resulted in a tied lynch if there wasn't vote manipulation, or moved a vote from Bard to Alv to not get killed... SO, either Bard wasn't around for rollover (which looks quite likely) or someone else has the vote manipulation (which also could be true.) I used my vote manipulation on myself, since when I stepped away from my computer for a few hours of meetings, I was still a potential lynch target, in case anyone was curious. Please excuse the moderate rambling in that first paragraph.
-
So, like most everyone else, I'm struggling to determine who to vote for. While I'm willing to swap over to Kidpen, I also want to throw Alvron out there as a potential lynch target. With Elandera's flip, Alvron's and Kidpen's votes seem by far the most likely to be another elim getting a last-minute bus off on a teammate. I'll see if I can find anything better than that for either of them, but since discussion seems to have stalled, I wanted to get this out there as well.
-
Somewhat fair... I hadn't had a chance to really look at the thread for that day. I logged on, saw the vote count, and tried to remove the possibility of vote manipulation deciding the vote. Seems that would have been a bad play if my vote had actually counted. At the risk of sounding somewhat retaliatory, but keep in mind I mentioned this during the night cycle as well, your vote on Elandera seemed rather bussy to me...(as did Alvron's)
-
Well, I'd say the result of this lynch at least gives Young Bard a soft clear. What else happened here? xino was the second person to throw a vote on Elandera Rath (that's me!) was third Then Elandera voted on Elkanah, making the vote Elandera 3, Elkanah 1 Zillah came in to vote on Elkanah Abstrusity voted Elandera Kidpen and Alvron came in late to clinch the lynch TM *ninja Coda* Regarding the vote manipulation. I can make a claim to that. I'm the last member of the legal subset. Elandera knew my identity, so there's nothing to be gained by me not claiming this. After Shard was killed, I was promoted to Suit. I think Elandera gave up on that doc at that point, so I was able to sneak? the vote manipulation in. Legal has the ability to remove two votes from someone. So, of the votes, Zillah's seems potentially too sloppy if it was elim vote...Kidpen's and Alvron's votes seem like they could be somewhat bandwagony/bussy though. Those are my initial thoughts at least.
-
Just a quick vote count: xino (0) - Elandera Young Bard (0) - Elkanah Elandera (4) - Young Bard, xino, Rath, Abstrusity Elkanah (2) - Elandera, Zillah Coda (0) - Elkanah
-
XPERIENCE_THE_SHARD as Drahs Xperienc(the x is silent) Gold Ferring Suit in the legal subset
-
I agree that Elandera appears at least moderately suspicious based on Young Bard's assertion. I am somewhat curious if this was a subset ability or an individual ability that resulted in the role block, although I understand if that's information you aren't quite willing to share.
-
I wasn't trying to be a deciding vote...I was trying to make sure that the people who did vote (and had a better feel on the game so far) were represented without vote manipulation affecting the result. Glad I was ~30 seconds too late to affect the vote.
-
Sorry folks, I haven't been keeping up with the thread to feel like my vote is warranted. Just to help keep vote manipulation from deciding this (if there is any in this game, I'll go with Abstrusity.

Hello folks. One thing I'm curious about is whether the EBI could have infiltrated any of the subsets? It's kind of funny having a black out game like this, people can't spend the first page discussing mechanics. Elim team is likely 4 players with this number of people?

So you don't trust yourself...interesting. (Seriously, I was reading your list and your trusted list and saw you had *someone* as 'strong village read' and then I saw Striker as your 'most trusted' and I was confused...until I went back and saw that you were your 'strong village read') So I'm waffling back and forth right now between voting on Abstrusity to follow up on my hunch of 'one of Kidpen and Abstrusity is likely evil' and voting on xino for similar reasons to what Araris outlined last cycle.- 229 replies

Mid-Range Game 40: A Defiant Rebellion
Rathmaskal replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Right, but if you have a 51% chance someone is an elim based on activity, that's a better vote than a vote on someone who has been inactive the entire cycle. I disagree on the use of the word 'plenty'...The only reason anyone voted on Coda was because they weren't willing to vote on anyone else, resulting in less information from the lynch. That is definitely of hypothetical use to an elim. That being said, I'm definitely not saying that all three of them are elims for voting (in fact, I think I've been rather clear on that fact)... However, there's the 51% chance (probably more tbh, but I'm trying to make a point) for me. (Also, I just tried to delete an extra 'period' like 5 times there before realizing it was just a spec of dust on my screen...don't judge me)- 229 replies

Yep, you are correct. I missed that in my rules read-through. Thanks for the correction. I didn't say lynching was a bad thing...I didn't say lynching C1 was a bad thing...I said lynching an inactive C1 was a bad look. Instead of getting information about interactions between the player who was lynched and other players in the game, we get a small amount of information on three people.- 229 replies

Hmmm, interesting stuff. (actually didn't notice the white text until I quoted...so glad I did) Not sure I agree with this even giving a slight village lean to Fifth, Striker, xino, or Kidpen...but it's not an unreasonable assessment. Then you had to go and ruin it...just when I was starting to like you. (Actually, you have a fair point. Sorry, been trying to keep up with reading the thread, just a lot of busy going on...) First off, I should consider myself humbled and moderately stupid. Here I was thinking, "No way Elandera is going to count all the words from my RP to see if it's 149 or 150.." Meanwhile, I was using word count to see where I was...and I'm sure she did as well so there was no 'counting' necessary. *sigh* well played...I was so committed to trolling that I trolled myself. -- Who do I trust? Who do I suspect? Well, I'm always a bit slow to trust people, but I'm kind of liking where Araris' head is at right now. And to follow that up, @xinoehp512, what were you trying to accomplish by professing suspicions C1 but not voting? We had a little over half the players vote C1, which if you exclude Coda who didn't check in at all, amounted to 8/13...not bad. Considering that the other death (OK, the only death...while the first was an arrest...but they don't seem to have any functional difference...unless we find out later on that you can escape from captivity...) was from someone who didn't vote, we should be able to assume similar activity at the least this cycle. I know it's beating a dead horse a bit, but the Coda wagon is clearly a bit off. Lynching an inactive C1 is not a great look...other than bringing suspicion on the people who voted for that person, I don't see any value to the village. The votes were Abstrusity > 21 minutes > Kidpen > 3 hours, 38 minutes > Elkanah > 17 minutes > end of cycle. With that, I highly doubt that we have both Abstrusity and Kidpen on the elims, but one of them is very possible...Elkanah likely was trying to remove vote manipulation from the equation with the timing of that vote. Just a question of for which side... The only other vote during that time period was from Fifth. Given that it was still 2-3 hours prior to cycle end, I'm not as suspicious as I was about to be if it was right at the end of the cycle. I do want to circle back around to Sart's idea of chit passing. Why not just do the chit passing but not include any item usage? If everyone passes a chit, barring a hovercar existing, we would end up with no elim kill for the night. Alternatively, we would run into the situation where there are elims back-to-back in the player list where one has to cover for the other...which would be useful as well once we catch someone. Just a thought. (There's a ninja around here, but I have other stuff to edit as well...so several of the comments above here are going to be after the ninja as well) Ok, all that being said, Kidpen wins the flip with Abstrusity (I currently don't have anything to suspect one over the other and my dedication to this post has been quite interrupted).- 229 replies

Mid-Range Game 40: A Defiant Rebellion
Rathmaskal replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Whew, apparently when you take a week off of work, you have a lot to catch up on when you're back in the office. - First off, welcome back to a couple people who have missed a few games (xino, shanerockes, fifth to be specific)! - I'm not going to jump on the 'analyze all the roles' train at this point. I think I missed the window where I could contribute anything useful that hasn't already been mentioned. - I do think I'm going to try to throw out a 149-word RP in this post...just because. (Yes, I know it will be detrimental to my chits standing, but will Elandera actually count the words?) You know, I think I'm going to do 149 words but then include at least one contraction so there's the implication that I could have hit 150 if I'd just been more wordy... (Note, I finally did get around to reading Skyward AND Starsight...loved them) ~~ Rath hated the Krell. Most people were afraid, but he hated them. With a passion. It wasn't that they were trying to kill him every time he was in the sky. It wasn't even the friends he'd lost throughout the years. In fact, he didn't know why he hated them. He'd tried to reflect from time to time, determine what he hated about them...but that didn't work very well when every time he thought about them, he felt a sense of rage rising up inside him. For now, he just looked forward to the next time he'd be in the air, fighting to save his people and destroy the object of his hatred. For now, Rath had larger problems to worry about. It wasn't long ago he'd been hearing inflammatory comments about the DDF. People were claiming they should be treated like everyone else?! He'd never imagined such blasphemy?! ~~ *Ninja 1* The Stormlight anon game from last year? had some fun mechanics regarding activity and RP. *Ninja 2* - TBH, not a huge fan of speaking in code here...just adds extra time to trying to decipher what's going on. I guess there could be a purpose once the anonymous messages start coming through, but for now, I have enough stuff to read through and analyze. - Current vote count by what I see (Didn't count Kynedath's vote/retraction on Abstrusity): Abstrusity (0) - Kidpen, Elkanah Kidpen (0) - Abstrusity, Elkanah Elkanah (0) - Araris, TGK Striker (2) - Fifth, Rath TGK (0) - Araris shane (1) - Sart xino (1) - Araris Fifth (1) - Striker I only count 4 people with vote? Did I miss something (or were you not removing Abstrusity's vote Striker? Unsure how Elandera is going to count that, figured I'd lean toward 'give the new player some leeway' being the result) - I was considering a Sart vote prior to the ninjas I see there, but the interaction between Fifth and Striker overall seems a bit off... I'm going to lean towards Striker for now.- 229 replies

Quick Fix 42: Alcatraz vs. the Watakotse Infiltration
Rathmaskal replied to Elandera's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hey folks, more detailed thoughts. @DeTess: I enjoyed our PM, including the occasional notes you'd put in for the next holder of the courier's lens. Honestly, the PM is where I started getting a strong village read on you. You're always just a bit too unreadable in thread @Elkanah: Again, really good PM. I appreciated your insight on a few things (including completely shooting down my initial read on Kynedath). I also found your last few posts extremely entertaining. Of all the games I've played, I don't think I've ever seen a villager lie as much/deliberately as you did this game and still become relatively trusted. @Butt Ad Venture: I need to reevaluate how I view your playstyle. I was definitely one of the leaders of your mislynch unfortunately, and looking back, I don't think it was that warrented. I was trying to find elims by looking for my own tells. Glad you were able to get your protects off though! @Zillah: I apologize, I didn't get an opportunity to interact with you very much this game. I think you played well. Looking forward to seeing you in future games. @The_God_King: Similarly, I didn't get an opportunity to interact with you very much this game. What I will say is that it wasn't anything you did that caused you to get on my radar for the last lynch, it was more related to the tools we had available to us as villagers. Unfortunate for you that once you were the last elim and most of the village was already cleared. Hope to see you continue into future games! @Feruchemical Skybreaker: The last of the three new players. I think I interacted with you the least. I hope you enjoyed the game and I look forward to playing/interacting with you more in future games! @Devotary of Spontaneity: Sorry you didn't get to be a part of the Courier's lens any longer than you were... When I realized, "Hmmm, I don't really have an opinion of Devotary either way." at that point in the game, I was convinced you had to be an elim. Not sure if that was a valid assessment of your play this game or if you just had less time to devote to this game. Things could have been a decent amount worse for the village if I hadn't recognized that and/or there was more than one elim left after lynching you. @StrikerEZ: Glad you were able to keep a healthy level of suspicion of me even at the very end. Also glad you didn't decide to attempt a giant swing in the lynch vote @Kynedath: Nice playing with you this game. I was especially relieved when I was able to effectively clear you. @CadCom: Alas, even you had to die eventually. Great playing with you again. @Kidpen: Well, you didn't make it very long. @Elandera: Thanks for putting on the game! Your writeups were extremely entertaining (Need to go make sure I submitted sufficient upvotes), as were the occasional snarky comments in PMs. I'm also curious if you decided what you were going to do if one side of a courier's lens was broken. That could have been a fun mechanic. Overall, I really enjoyed the game. It's at least mildly unfortunate we didn't get to see this game exactly as planned, but this game did remind me that I need to read the Alcatraz books (I think those and Legion are the only ones I haven't read yet)...I'll have to get on that. Looking forward to the next game!- 240 replies
