Is it possible that the Atium we see in the original trilogy is really an alloy of Atium and Electrum? Since we know we that alloys of lerasium can create mistings of each metal. I think it's weird that atium just gives access to something that's almost already a metal. Electrum shows your future self, but atium just shows someone else's future self? That seems too basic for a GOD METAL to do. And brandon has said we don't fully understand what atium can do...

I feel like the fact that Hoid can still use Yolish lightweaving, even though the planet was originally invested by Adonalsium who clearly is not there anymore, could be of some significance here. Maybe it's different for Adonalsium though.

I read earlier, well heard bc I was listening to the audio book at work, but Breeze said specifically in Well of Ascension that you cannot soothe yourself. However, that doesn't mean it's not possible. There was a lot that the crew didn't know about allomancy and there was multiply occasions where they were just plain wrong.

My bad, what I meant was OreSeur, when he was still a human, held vials of metal for Vin and gave her some whenever she said "run away" or something like that. Whenever Tensoon was mentioning ways to help her, he never even mentioned holding metals for her. I think everyone on the crew read the logbook if I'm not mistaken. But it was probably at least mentioned in front of the kandra, especially since all of them were focused on it and they talked about it a lot.

My main question is this: Was Rashek the first person to use the powers located inside the Well of Ascension?could the well have filled at some point before him and someone else used the powers? This seems likely to me. Here are my reasons why. First of all, we know that together Ati and Leras created the life on Scadrial at some point after the shattering. The coppermind says that it was "millenia" ago, which could mean anything from 2000 to hundreds of thousands of years ago. We have records of events that take place thousands of years prior to the final empire (I'm pretty sure the desolations happened over 4000 years prior). We know the well refills every 1024 years. The story accounts for 2 well refills, which is about 2000 years worth of history. This leaves plenty of room for at least one time the well refills. If it did fill up at some point, it would have to have been used by someone. If it hadn't, then ruin would have been freed. However, we do not know how long ago Leras trapped Ati. Without knowing this we can't be certain but we can still guess. We know Scadrial is supposed to be the closest thing to Earth in the cosmere. As per this WoB We could assume that the earth was at least 2800 years old. I got this number because there was at least 1000 years prior to 0 AD that needs to be accounted for in human evolution. If it is that old, then there is plenty of time to the well to have filled prior. (I could be completely wrong, the shards could have just created the technology or they could have helped them develop it much faster). What evidence do we have that someone else used the powers in the well? Well I think the fact that there were full feruchemists might be evidence. For example, we know that mistings existed before Rashek gave out the lerasium. Before that people could only burn one metal. What if the person who visited the well before him did the same with feruchemy? That would make sense. I always thought it was odd that people had access to full feruchemy while only having access to one allomancy. That seems very unbalanced to have the magic systems be created like that. I understand you might be thinking that lerasium can only give allomancy so that doesn't make sense. However, there are two different ways there could have been a metal to do this. First this WoB One of those metals could give feruchemy. That seems like someone that would be kept hidden from common knowledge. Another option seems less likely. IIRC there was another shard to visit Scadrial in the past. This other shard could have invested a God metal alloy with both Ati and Leras (can you have a metal with three alloys?) and created a God metal to give feruchemy. Or Ati and Leras could have simply created a different metal. Does this make sense? I feel like the first part does at least lol

Exactly thank you I looked everywhere for that. Anyways I guess I should reword the question. If Harmony was less able to control his two shards, would his metal have different properties? Does that sound better? Idk I think it's possible and very interesting. It could also have a lot of ramifications.
-
I can't find it anywhere now but I swear I remember reading that if someone else picked up ruin and preservation it wouldn't be Harmony and that the two would have mixed in a different way.

If anyone has the chance could you possibly ask this question? Hero of ages spoilers

Okay so this is a very tenuous theory with not a lot of evidence, but it kinda makes sense in my head. We know the plan for the SA is for Honor and Odium to pick a champion. At first I assumed this would just be a regular person who would be picked and it wouldn't afford any extra powers. However, picking a champion is kinda similar to what Ruin/Preservation did with Vin. She was picked as part of the plan from a long time ago. Vin was shown to be a better allomancer than anyone of her time. She instinctively knew a lot of stuff that takes years to learn. I cannot remember the exact WoB, but I remember seeing somewhere when asked why Vin was so powerful/different there was a RAFO. My theory is that each shard can pick a "champion" and give them something. Maybe it's extra access to their investiture, such as allowing Vin to draw on the mists (Wax also has drawn on them I think I read someone) or just something else. This does seem like a connection to me. But I apologize for the lack of evidence. Does anyone have any input? Edit: I found some WoBs that might pertain to this. This one has a RAFO, which means it will probably be talked about more in the future. This could be discussed with the champions on Roshar.

Can you riot/sooth yourself? I don't remember any proof either way. Like, can you soothe away your fear or anger? Or riot your courage?

***Spoilers for Well of Ascension*** I'm on my third read through of well of Ascension and I just now am realizing the mistakes TenSoon makes when imitating OreSeur. Maybe I'm wrong but I felt like I should share these and see if I'm right. First of all, the kandra becomes a lot more helpful after it becomes a dog. Before, it would only help if given a specific command to. Now it takes the initiative and helps Vin, such as when it told her he could store vials inside of his body. Another mistake is when it "forgets" that it already told Vin that making the fur would take a long time. He claims he forgot that he already told Vin, but it's really because it wasn't him who told her. I feel like he made another mistake when he says he can help Vin. Vin says that he can't kill humans as part of the contract and he lists ways he could help instead, such as running to get help. However, he doesn't mention carrying metals, which he had already done beforehand. It's not like he would forget, he just isn't the same person and doesn't have the OreSeurs memory. Another mistake is when Vin mentions the logbook. He seems to not remember it, yet OreSeur would have certainly remembered it. Does anyone else know of any other mistakes? I think it's cool there are clues in the books that he is the traitor. It's cool that even on the third time I'm reading this book I'm discovering new things.

Could the "sun" be the body of the bulk of the shards cognitive shadow? For example on Roshar it could be cultivations cognitive shadow, or where a large amount of her mind thinks it is located, and on Scadrial it could be where ruin thinks it is at? Cause the way people think is important there, so maybe if they imagine themselves to be mainly in one spot, they'd have a large amount of their energy there. Since shards definitely have a lot of investiture. Or maybe they're just seeing hoid in the distance and he just glows because he's hoid

That actually makes a lot of sense, because Oathbringer would have been used to bring them back to the oaths they made. That's really cool information, thanks!
-
Oh okay. I must have missed something important. It just struck me as weird that the name of his sword would be a book, but if he says it'll make sense I believe him. That guy is a genius when it comes to writing
-
Okay so I have read that Oathbringer is a tentative title, yet the book comes out in a little over 6 months and it's already up for pre-order. Does that mean it's the official title now? What happened to the every title being an inworld book thing? Are they just going to name a random book oathbringer?

I wonder how the Honorblade would affect his surgebinding, like would it be stronger?

Okay so I was rereading Edgedancer and i had a thought. Since Lift can convert food directly into stormlight, would she be able to convert food stored in a bendalloy medallion? If so, what if the medallion granted the use of bendalloy both with feruchemy and Allomancy, making her be able to compound it? Would this mean that she would have a near unlimited amount of stormlight? What could she do with that? Maybe her healing (progression surge) would be greatly increased. Could she heal someone who has been dead for much longer? Hours or even days? Could she heal a someone's soul, such as Szeths? Or maybe heal the connection between a cognitive shadow and their body, such as Kel, or heal a returned from their dead status? Could she heal a dead shardblade? The incredibly large amount of stormlight could also have other effects. We know when someone has a lot of breath they reach different heightenings, which give like perks such as agelessness. Could this be independent of magic system and just a side effect of holding a large amount of investiture, regardless of where it's from? If so, with Lift having all the stormlight from compounding, could she reach these heightenings and finally achieve agelessness like she's always wanted? Sorry for the punctuation and random line of thought, but does anyone have any ideas? Maybe there is other cool stuff she could do with the large amount of stormlight? Or am I completely wrong here
-
I didn't even think of that. So it would be possible to have anyone be able to compound? Even without any access to the metallic arts prior?
-
Is there any information on whether the medallions from the southern Scadrians can give allomancy or is it just feruchemy?
-
Thanks that answered both my questions perfectly
-
Does anyone know if there is any information on whether elsecallers or willshapers can take passengers? Or if they can travel to the spiritual ream instead of just physical/cognitive?

Also, the jewelry is worn by most noble women, even minor ones, and Vin even had some herself. It doesn't seem like those types of gems are valuable enough to be put in with atium or thousands of boxings.
-
Straff doesn't seem like the type of person to me to have something like gems (if they're meant to show status) locked in a big safe hidden behind a mechanism in the wall
-
Dang, there goes that theory. Guess I'm just thinking of stormlight too much since I'm waiting on November lol
