Do you guys just hate me or something? LG24: Attacked by the eliminators N1. LG25: Attacked by the eliminators N1. QF20: Lynched D1 on no evidence. Was village. AG3: Ongoing, but go read it. Assuming an average of 25 players per game with the standard 2 deaths on first turn, a person has an 8% chance of dying first turn. This is significantly higher than that. At this rate I'm not going to put any more work into making characters anymore, it just isn't worth it.

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Elbereth's latest explanatory post makes me slightly less suspicious of her, but I'm hesitant to shift my vote to my second suspicion, Hemalurgic Headshot, because it is literally the worst thing in the world to get lynched Day 1 first game.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Bugsy6912 My vote on El was because she was the one who shifted the conversation at the start to talking about Wilson, which is something I believe an eliminator would do. I'm not incredibly suspicious of her, but she's the best target I have (although Hemalurgic Headshot is worrying me a little with his strong tunneling, especially for a new player).- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Gamma Fiend, I'd be very interested in hearing from you. You've hopped onto the thread several times without posting, and currently you're in PMs. What are you up to? Sneaky person, you put your ear to the door and hear the old man speak these words: "Ah, Soulbinding. A lost art, I fear, and one that may be possessed only by me and my Soullinked clones, such as the one speaking to you right now. It's a form of Investiture that manipulates the Connection between two people. It's similar to the other forms of Investiture, though it requires a "focus" of the person I am building Connection to. For instance," the man paused, and you hear rustling, "something like this. Having a focus from a person gives you access to Light Soulbinding and its four domains: Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement. With me so far?" Edit: sp/grammar- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Deceiving you? By doing what? That guy sitting over there in the corner is probably deceiving you more than I am. When I try to be honest and open about gathering information, I'm written off as apparently some very gutsy eliminator, yet when I'm secretive and tricksy, everyone passes me over as village. Why does this happen? In every game, the people who are acting "oddly" are labeled as the eliminators, when in reality the eliminators are the ones who are trying the hardest of everyone to "fit in".- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I have already reached out to quite a few members of this community via PM, and I'm trying to get a feel for who's on whose side, as this can be a good way of pinning down motivations. I was wondering if Straw had any information on interplayer alliances. I have no interest in sharing my role with anyone.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The old man shook his head and walked away. When had it suddenly become suspicious to meet with a couple friends in a side room? At length, he decided that the manor was getting too empty for interesting discussion, so he retired to his room, pulled up a chair, and watched out his window for a time. The square, though busy and bustling, seemed oddly peaceful, a direct contradiction with the abrupt chaos of the night before. The man smiled his half-smile and began to whittle away at a little gold disk.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'd be willing to bet my brand new cane that at least one of the people who is trying to get us to overly focus on Wilson's death is an eliminator. Think about it. Assuming that Wilson was just randomly protected, the eliminators would want us to try to read too much into this and jump to false conclusions. Or, assuming that Wilson's protection was an elaborate WGG-like ploy, the eliminators would want to ensure that their scheme worked by talking about it and spreading false conclusions. Either way, it's likely that the eliminators want us debating about Wilson's death, which makes me quite suspicious of El. @Hemalurgic_Headshot I'm curious why.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
After supper the previous night, in the old man's room: The man reached a gloved hand into his deep coat pocket and procured a goblet: the one Felix had been drinking from the night before, which the man had stolen when nobody was looking. He held the goblet for one hand for a time, perhaps hours, meditating. When the time of fate had drawn nigh, the man transferred the goblet to his other, ungloved hand and drank. Immediately there was a thunderclap and flash of light, though it was perhaps only visible to him. And the world dissolved into a memory. Felix's memory. - The old man made his way slowly down to breakfast. When he arrived, the discussion was already in full force. "I am a proponent of using ciphers for just about everything. I used them quite a bit back in my day, heh heh. I can't say Nicki's last post adds much information to the discussion. I'm no probability expert, but I'm pretty sure it's very extremely highly likely in every game that there's at least one experienced player on the eliminator team, and Whistler, being a highly talented member of society, tends to be a high-priority target. I think the much more important fact is how her protector knew whom to protect. I'm not keen on trying to guess whether it was a WGG or just the eliminators wanting us to think it was a WGG, though."- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Note: This bit takes place still at the end of N1, immediately after Felix's post. The man clapped Felix on the shoulder as he took a seat from his speech. "Well said, my new friend. These people need hope, and we need to be the ones who give it to them." Felix did not speak, but the man could hear Felix's voice echoing in his head: "It will take a miracle for us to survive an attack...we will need to make sacrifices...I have seen the danger with my own eyes......" They sat in contemplating silence. Finally someone spoke: not the old man or Felix, but the steward Herywnbe. He spoke, but the sound the old man heard did not match with the steward's moving lips. It was a different voice. The voice of the steward's heart. Thank you for bringing light to these people. The man half-smiled, idly fingering Herwynbe's hair which he had found at the scene of the death. The focus's Connection was fading; the man would need to find another soon. But for now, it would do. The man straightened up and surveyed the others in the room. Lord Tekiel himself was here. What was a lord of great import doing in a place like this at a time like this? He noticed a dishonest-looking person standing oddly close to a one-legged man. Of no import. The man who had, probably drunkenly, declared himself to be Cassius and the woman who had, definitely drunkenly, declared herself to be Matilda were talking about something. He would keep half an eye on them. The man inhaling tacos in the corner was best to be ignored. Carmichael...now he was an interesting one. The man could see through his arrogant persona and noticed something deeper underneath. Something enigmatic. Carmichael had power, whether for good or for ill. "Felix, Herwynbe, Carmichael, could I meet you all in a separate room for a few moments? Preferably not one too far away. I'm not sure what my legs can handle..."- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Drake Marshall "Ah, the fates predicted your arrival. I knew I would be meeting you here, Felix. "Instead of relating everything to you here, let us make haste toward the manor of Herwynbe. After all, the daylight is fading fast. Dangerous things come out at night, and I can't say my fighting skills are what they used to be, heh heh. "It appears you're a little late. The congregation has already come and gone. This poor man's corpse is an omen, and I fear we must follow it, and everyone else, down the river of fate." The man paused for a moment, then reached out and pulled a thread off of Felix's cloak. He examined it for a moment, then spoke: "I see you as a man who values the truth. The truth behind these grave events lies with the witnesses--and, perhaps, the killers. To the manor!"- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The man sat in front of his house and observed. He saw person after another approach the messenger's body to weep or pay their respects. There was one in particular who caught his eye, though. He had heard the name Herwynbe, though perhaps that was just a whispering of the mists. He felt a strange connection to Herwynbe; a calling, almost. With great effort, the man stood up and began hobbling toward the corpse. The ground around it was muddy with bootprints, but the body itself, despite the missing spike, looked almost peaceful, floating in its own world. The man stooped down--he could still do that, at least--and carefully pulled a hair from the ground. Though there was no realistic way to tell who it belonged to, somehow the mists told him all. As soon as his finger touched it, the world flashed before him and he heard one distant, echoing word. Hope. It was a weak vision; hair was never a very strong focus. Nevertheless, the man smiled his uncanny half-smile and stood up. This was a person he wanted to meet. Unfortunately, it appeared Herwynbe had already retreated with much of the populace to the manor for the night. The man sighed and resumed his helpless-old-man persona. "Won't somebody please help me get inside before night falls?"- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Ecthelion III replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The man watched it all, silently, taking it in. Though some of the more questionable-minded citizens ran around in circles screaming at the top of their lungs, the man simply sat on his front porch and observed. Not that his back was much good for doing anything else. The man got lonely, occasionally. He had a past, all right, but no one to share it with. Nobody wondered, nobody cared, about his life, his secrets, or even his name. It's strange, he thought, how the epoch when the mind is at its strongest is also the epoch when the body is at its weakest. Thoughts of worry or concern were absent from his mind, despite the appearance of a spiked corpse right outside his doorstep. Instead he just sat, calm and calculating, but also with that indescribable half-smile.- 1403 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Ecthelion III replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
*bows* My one shot hit the target square on . See, Aman, my cards are never all on the table. I liked the way the PM structure was set up, with Chain of Command. It also encouraged roleplaying and more PM strategy, which is generally not what I focus on. I also liked the triple-filter. I'm not a fan of alternate peaceful win conditions, but this one had enough potential backstabbing that I'm okay with it.- 329 replies
