  1. Hi everyone. Perhaps I am just a bit dense, but where would one find the unique code? I have the Szeth cut out that came with my book, but I have not been able to figure out what to put into the site.
  2. Wow, this is great! Count me in.
  3. We have made a little more progress. All the letters are working now and we are just hashing out some smaller issues with stroke widths and such. But it is coming along nicely.
  4. Following the theory that the recipient is an actual reptile, I got to wondering if the sender might also be draconian. There is no real evidence for or against this, but it does shed a new light on the bit about how he would protect the element like his own skin. Reptiles, of course, molt. Then they just leave their old skin behind.
  5. I did as well. And my personalization request made Brandon's Twitter feed! http://twitpic.com/73p91i
  6. But, on the upside, the letters he gave me which won't work for font purposes look really good. So, once we get these little technical details worked out, this font should look quite nice.
  7. Ruin could not read anyone's mind. He could project his (or someone else like Reen's or God's) voice into someone's mind, but he only "heard" anything that the person said aloud, wrote down on non-metal, or stored in a coppermind.
  8. One file will work fine, just put each letter on a different layer so it is easy to copy/paste. Can't wait!
  9. I can make fonts, but my vector-foo is not so strong. If you can get me some nice quality vectors of the alphabet (Illustrator format would be ideal), I can translate them into a font for you. I actually started on this, but it is not turning out as pretty as it deserves.
  10. I wants it!
  11. I have read 86 of them, and quite a few of the remainder are in my Amazon Wish List already. I suppose I really need to get a life.
  12. In that case, you have a wonderful world awaiting you. Look up his Elric books (or really any of his books). Moorcock is one of the greats. His imagination and writing are really top notch and he is a huge influence on most modern fantasy.
  13. When I was in an undergrad Psychology class in college, we had to volunteer to help one of the teachers/grad students with their experiments for class credit, and one that I actually worked on was this: http://psychology.uga.edu/people/bios/faculty/JBrownDoc/Brown.1993.pdf It was a study that looked at a person's perception of certain illusions made with alternating black and white shapes and blinking lights (real trippy), and found that those with darker eye pigments didn't see the illusion as often as those with lighter pigmentation. It roughly corresponded to skin color, but not necessarily. I was the melanin measurer. I had one of those eye microscopes that they use when you get tested for contacts, and I had to figure out what level of pigmentation any given cornea had. So I'm getting credit for gazing into some lovely co-eds' eyes and flirting with them. Oddly enough, telling girls that they have pretty eyes doesn't work so well from the other side of a microscope.
  14. I have green eyes, though they change colors sometimes depending upon my state of intoxication...
  15. There was this study at the University of North Texas which suggests that dark-eyed people can't hold their liquor as well as light-eyed people, and are more likely to be alcoholic. I found it interesting that there is such a profound physiological difference there. Perhaps there is a good reason that lighteyes are royalty on Roshar. http://www.unt.edu/rss/class/mike/5700/eyecoloralcohol.pdf
  16. I don't think that Allomantically burning a hemalurgic spike would be a good idea, if it is even possible. Imagine for a moment what burning does... it grants the person a power and the metal is removed (burned/reclaimed by Preservation). If a person is spiked, I would think that removing the spike would be a bad thing. If they burned enough of it that it loses its hemalurgic powers, then he is stuck with a spike through the head/heart/etc. Or if it is completely burned (like with Duralumin), then they will just have a large hole in the head/heart/etc. That would not be healthy. Though I suppose it could be a good last-ditch weapon, like a dying curse, when you know you won't survive.
  17. I was just pondering the nature of crem the other day (like you haven't...) and I was wondering if it may be related to the Elantrian slime. I forget what that stuff was exactly, but wasn't it related to some magic occurring, but with the Dor mostly not working, it all died? I think of it as some decaying bits of Skai... Anyway, what if the crem is like that, being nasty deposits of Almighty-flesh being dumped out during the highstorms. Any thoughts?
  18. Well, we do not know what ever happened to the Duladel before the action in Elantris. We know that something horrible happened, and the people are almost all gone (assumed dead, but I don't remember that being explicitly stated). Perhaps they were merely displaced... into Shadesmar or somewhere else. Thus, one or more of the survivors may have met with the 17S folks. *It has been a while since I read Elantris, so I may be mis-remembering...
  19. I suspect it is possible to get to another shard world through normal physical means, but none of the current shardworlds that we know of have progressed technologically to the point where space travel is available. Perhaps in the 3rd Mistborn trilogy, we'll get an answer to this question...
