  1. I suppose it seemed too convenient to me. Guess I'm just concerned about Taravangian's motives.
  2. Ok, is no one going to question whether or not that woman is even a Dustbringer? She didn't really do much but summon a blade, right? I want to know more now!
  3. Just now starting Arcanum Unbounded. More excited than a dog in a ham curing hut.

  4. *sigh* When i first read the Reckoners, you think... Calamity- some all powerful endower of multiple abilities.... Odium- some all powerful force of hatred completely contaminating the experience... and honestly, BOOM. You have Cosmere potential. While I suppose I can understand why Brandon would set this place beyond the Cosmere, my bigger question is Why Not? it was so perfect. You have post-apocalyptic humanity endowed with powers that defy the laws of physics. you have some bigger place out there that could plausibly create this scenario. In the end, for me it comes down to Creator's Whimsy. I don't want it there, so it doesn't belong there. Still gotta love Brandon either way though, right?
  5. Yes but I suppose my question is... what distinguishes the orders? Is it the nature of your denial? I mean it's not like you can just apply for the job of "windrunner"
  6. Exactly. Since all your resources go toward destruction, the ways in which you can bring something down vastly outweighs the probabilities of them finding ways to maintain it in the face of that. Not impossible, but Damnation it can be hard.
  7. I understand their differences, but wouldn't their similarities and their origin give them more common ground? If allomancer A can slow down time, including the way you perceive it (inside the bubble), then wouldn't Feruchemist A have power along the same lines? It just seems like our perceptions only allow for speed to be the useful one, but in a balanced system wouldn't slowing down time be just as useful? and is it equally hard to store slowness as it is to store speed? hmmm maybe ignore these for now. I wasn't aware that three pages had popped up behind my last reply lol alright screw this I'm back. Wax can tap his weight abilities, meaning that if he goes one way, he's storing up the other right? why not with speed? perhaps the way it works is simply mental? you need to slow down, you tap slow and speed is stored up to compensate? why not? seriously, I'd love for this to be toppled over completely.
  8. Denial seems to be a huge thing with the radiant noobs. The most obvious is shallan, but what about kaladin? lift? Szeth? All these people that hold power seem to be in some type of denial. Looking at it this way, why in Roshar would you want any of these people to be your hero? Your life would depend on their internal struggle.
  9. So they do go to Damnation. Scary scary.
  10. Cookies? I love cookies. This will appease CancerPuppy.
  11. So you don't tap slowness. Understandable, I guess. But isn't that kind of what Marasi does? leaving out the fact that it's allomancy and not feruchemy, of course.
  12. Granted, But it's Chuck E. Cheese. I wish I could forget every embarrassing moment I ever had.
  13. Sooooo quick question. What if you wanted to store slowness? Silly I know, but maybe it's a loophole that wasn't explored. And in regards to mental speed, wouldn't that be a hazard when moving extremely fast? response time would need to be better wouldn't it?
  14. thanks!
  15. I'm inclined to agree with the idea of Odium's raw power being more than that of any shard. I think at the heart of this idea is the simple fact that it's generally easier to break and destroy than it is to create and maintain. It has to be more difficult at this level since we're dealing with cosmic powers, and Odium has had to create things like Voidspren and the Unmade to further his cause, but in the end I believe it's just harder to maintain what you've created when something just as powerful wants to show up and destroy it. Like if a kid painstakingly builds a huge elaborate sand castle, using buckets and shovels and water to maintain its structure, then another kid shows up with nothing but a bare foot and a desire to see it crumble and kicks it down. I suppose this doesn't address the subject of his raw power in comparison to others, though. Maybe he just doesn't require restraint?
  16. Maybe since you're giving up speed, the fact that you are slow means you're giving it up slowly. I guess there'd have to be some sort of ratio of how much speed you gain per second or hour vs. how slowly you move and how long it takes to store it?
  17. I'm pretty sure a spoiler alert isn't required here, and I'm not sure where to find any posts on this subject. I'm pretty new here. My main question has to do with the heralds at the beginning of the book. simply put, where did they go after every Desolation? What was the purpose of going to a place and presumably suffering endless torture only to come back, help civilization start over, then return back to said torture? Am I seeing this in the wrong way?
  18. I have wondered about one thing in particular... I read on a post some time ago that brandon didn't intend to spend any time on Damnation. I haven't really seen any speculation on it since. Isn't Rayse stuck in that general vicinity?
  19. I haven't come up with any myself just yet, in regards to the cosmere. But Odium? Sounds juicy. What did you have in mind?
  20. @Argent thanks! I just loved cancer puppy from the moment I saw him. For some reason the fact that he had cancer made me love him more. @TinyStrawMan, I am sorry to hear that. I'm only referring to an adorable fictional mascot.I love puppies.
  21. Brandon Sanderson is awesome, the cosmere is awesome, and pretty much anything else in the wide spectrum of those two subjects. Bow before CancerPuppy and marvel at my adorable-ness.
