  1. When you know that Ashyn is not, in fact, a bizarre ship between Ashe and Tyn.
  2. When you know that the answer to life, the universe and everything isn't 42. It's 16.
  3. When I was reading mistborn I decided that I wanted to practice my accent impersonations. So I just kind of threw out random accents for almost all the characters and read out their lines(when I was alone, of course). Vin and Kelsier I just couldn't finda good accent so I just stuck with an american accent(I speak with an american accent even though I'm not american. Weird, I know.) Dockson got Australian. No idea why. Sazed originally had an Indian-inspired accent, but I just wasn't feeling it with him so I dropped it. Breeze had a posh British accent. Seriously though what other accent can you give him? Ham also got the short end of the stick and was american. Clubs was Irish. OreSeur/TenSoon became Scottish. One of my favorite accents. His scenes in HoA were so much fun because he had so much dialogue. Anyway, it was a bunch of fun. I don't really do this kind of thing anymore, but I still try to figure out what Wayne sounds like in all of his different accents. Most of them are British-based. Most similar to Cockney. I also automatically hear a Russian accent whenever Rock speaks, but my Russian accent is horrible, so I don't usually read his lines out.
  4. Not completely related to the topic, but here's a little tidbit I picked up on. In the preface to Shadows for Silence Brandon mentions that some of the rules on Threnody came from old Jewish laws and traditions. "The world was mostly formed in my head, though over the years I’d added the idea of the shades for various reasons. One was to show off a few hints regarding the Cosmere afterlife, and another came during my initial research for the Stormlight Archive, where I read a lot about classical Hebrew life and philosophy. The original idea for Threnody was to make a system of magical rules with their roots in the Law of Moses and Jewish tradition. (Not mixing meat with milk, not kindling flames after nightfall on the Sabbath, etc.)" Now, I'm Jewish and I know quite a bit about these things and in the Torah it's mentioned that the reason eating blood is forbidden is because "blood is the spirit". This could be where Brandon got the connection between blood and the Spiritual Realm from.
  5. *gasp* Could it be? The legendary hemalurgic cookie spike? It is said to grant total control over all things baked and delicious. I will be lord over all baked goods. Muahaha!
  6. Hi everyone! I've been a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson for about a year now and imagine my jubilation when I found an entire site full of people as crazy as I was! My username is a reference to how I have periods of manic productivity immediately and unfailingly followed by periods of utter despondence. I hope to have much fun theorizing and obsessing over the Cosmere with all you guys.
