  1. Nightblood's allure is (from what we've seen,) based on proximity, correct? If you need a last ditch attempt, unlatch Nightblood, throw it forward while holding the sheath (blade flies out without you contacting it) and pray the Fullborn does the typical Atium/Speed dodge of still being near the oncoming object just out of its path. Then Nightblood's 'hey you wanna touch me!' effect springs into the Fullborn's mind, Fullborn grabs Nightblood, Nightblood eventually consumes Fullborn. That Fullborn's still gonna cause a helluva lot of damage in the meantime, but if you're only concern is killing the Fullborn, maybe this will work?
  2. At what age does Rock try feeding the kids cremling shell?
  3. Don't look too much into it, Brandon just wanted to show the title of Book 4 in-world, just like the previous three.
  4. It's definitely a little disappointing to see no Cosmere for 2018, but I easily understand the need to get away and take a break. We have been very, very spoiled by Brandon and his ability to write like a machine. (Especially compared to other authors who will remain nameless.) Of course that being said, when I see "I hope to have rock solid outlines for Stormlight 4 and 5 by the end of 2018.," my brain interprets it as, "I will unintentionally write Stormlight 5 at the same time as 4 and you will have them both in back to back years." Because Brandon.
  5. I haven't heard the Wandersail speculation before, so my guess may be way off, but if I remember correctly Brandon said one of the impetuses behind Edegdancer was Nale's change in persona between WoR and OB. Without Edgedancer that change would have happened off screen. And seeing that we got a lot more Lift in OB than before, Edgedancer makes even more sense. The one year gap between OB and Book 4 makes the possibilities for a novella nearly endless, but I still think any novella would be to fill in story gaps that occur in the one year in world time spans between books. Biggest thing I can think of that would be weird to have on screen in Book 4 is everyone's reaction to Szeth. (Would basically have to be flashbacks. After a year they'd be more or less accustomed.) So without knowledge of the Wandersail speculation, my guess would be the novella would have to do with Szeth and everyone's reaction to him, and possibly some more Skybreaker information. (I imagine they'll be big players in Book 4 as well.)
  6. And this is how Veil and Radiant become their own beings.
  7. Kaladin could not move. An army of Voidbringers was on their storming doorstep, half of his squires had the grace of a drunken skyeel, and the Assassin in White was waltzing around with a Shardblade that vaporized life. And yet, Kaladin could not move. Lopen had long ago passed out, refusing to surrender until his body quite literally convulsed, stomach spewing three hours worth of contents onto the floor, walls and ceiling. But Rock and that Reshi girl... They just-kept-eating. "Sure," Kaladin whispered to himself, "Bridge 4 needs to let loose, have some fun. So what a storming thin-as-a-branch kid challenges Rock to an eating contest. Let 'em laugh, blow off some steam, then back to work." Eighteen hours later and neither Rock nor Lift showed any signs of slowing. "It's not actually possible Syl," Kaladin said as Rock roared a mighty guffaw, shoving a fist sized cremling-shell and all-into his mouth. "With everything you've seen," Syl responded, finally breaking her gaze from the two combatants. "You really should have learned to not use that word." She of course found the eating contest utterly fascinating. Lift paused for a moment as the cremling shell cracked and shattered in Rock's mouth, then thrust her tiny arms at a steaming bowl of stew five times the size of her head. Stormlight somehow streaming from her, the girl slurped down the entire bowl's contents without pause, Stormlight healing her tongue and throat from the burns. "This is insane," Kaladin said. "I'm putting a stop to it." The glare Syl gave him would have made Odium pause. "Do you want a mutiny? Cause that's how you get a mutiny." Kaladin threw up his hands and collapsed into a chair. He glanced over to a tall, stout dark skinned man who had watched the battle unfold with as rapt attention as Syl. "Bet the Heralds never had to deal with this," Kaladin said. "No," the man said with a smile, "We most certainly did not."
  8. This is perfect. And with all the insanity that was happening in Part 5, I can totally see Dalinar just giving an 'ah, screw it, sure' type shrug. The only other thing I can think of at the moment is just about everyone else reacting to Szeth. Once Navani was convinced Szeth wasn't about to go on another murder spree, I can easily see her marching over and pummeling him until forcibly separated. Kaladin and Szeth I envision being comprised of few words, but relatively quick understanding. Jasnah and Szeth I have no storming idea. (Can I study you? Or, can I study your spren? Or, if you let anything happen to my uncle I will turn you to stone then walk all over you.)
  9. Adolin Radiants via reviving Maya confirmed.
  10. In regards to 1, I assumed Shallan's mental 'descent' in this book was a direct result of her oath/truth at the end of WoR. I loved that Brandon didn't gloss over that and that it played a huge role in OB. I may be wrong, but that's the impression I got. Either way, I thought the switching personalities, especially as they started to meld, was fascinating to read. 3- While I love how in depth Brandon has gone into the broken aspect of his characters, I love that Adolin is both power-free and more (seemingly) stable then the rest. Plus in general seems happier, for lack of a better term. He's a great foil for the rest of the main cast. A couple more 'Adolin's' would not be amiss, but between Syl, Bridge 4 and Lift (to a degree, at least what has appeared on screen so far,) we have a fair amount of those.
  11. If I could give you a Shard, I would. Wasn't my WoB, but from reddit the couple who received it went as Elend and Vin.
  12. Horrible news Sharders. Per reddit, Hoid loves bacon. Therefor Lift does not. Ergo, we have the first ever black mark against the most Awesome of all awesome characters. I feel so betrayed. (Though in retrospect, this is probably what cracked Lift's Spiritweb, a lack of love for Bacon.)
  13. Ishar was the one who originally put the restrictions/oaths on the Nahel Bond, right? Dalinar being a Bondsmith, could he have unknowingly altered the Bondsmith oaths? (Perhaps more feasible in current Roshar because Honor is dead.) Would explain part of the Stormfather's surprise.
  14. That's a fantastic point I didn't even think of during reading. Maybe the dead really go to the Tranquilline Halls when they die, but instead of fighting or doing whatever Vorinism says, they're basically trapped in limbo vis a vi Odium and Braize. By binding Odium, Honor also bound all souls to Roshar?
  15. Sadeas leaving Dalinar on the Shattered Plains led to Kaladin and Bridge 4 rescuing Dalinar. Kaladin and Bridge 4 rescuing Dalinar led to Dalinar giving up Oathbringer to free them. Dalinar giving up Oathbringer to free them led to Kaladin saving Dalinar's life from Szeth. Kaladin saving Dalinar's life from Szeth led to Dalinar being able to bond the Stormfather and explore his Honor visions. Dalinar bonding the Stormfather and being able to explore his Honor visions led to Lift sneaking into his visions and talking about butts. Lift sneaking into his visions and talking about butts led to a Lift and Rock food eating contest. Therefor, Sadeas is the greatest man in all the Cosmere. Simple logic really.
  16. A new Rosharan secret society founded upon the principles of... ...getting murdered halfway through saying the Words.
  17. I didn't expect Lift to be anything but an interlude character until the back 5 books, so seeing her entering the main narrative so quickly and wonderfully was phenomenal.
  18. Yep, I agree. I think that line was either added after the fact by someone (not necessarily Mr T,) or Cultivation played a much larger role in the Diagram then simply giving Mr. T a gift and a curse.
  19. I'd buy 20 copies of that on principle.
  20. I really like this timeline and had completely missed the significance of Fused having red eyes. Though this quote is probably a simpler explanation. Either way, Odium took them over from somebody, which didn't even cross my mind when reading. It was obvious he was controlling/influencing them in some way, but red eyes=hijacking.
  21. I really like this theory. Puts more weight into the Parsh's feeling of betrayal, if Honor and Cultivation sided with humans knowing it would cause the Parsh to constantly get reborn and stuck in Braize, in order to trap Odium. It does bring up the question of why H/C would want that to begin with, and not just get Odium to leave the system entirely.
  22. Yeah but Lift would just steal them. I could list a thousand character interactions I want see (basically Lift with Nightblood meeting everyone, especially Bridge 4) and a thousand incredible story moments, but after OB I'm most interested in seeing what Brandon has coming that no one sees coming. In OB alone we basically had two climaxes (parts 3 and 5) and a stormton of events that many here (myself included) thought would be major book 5+ reveals. The Recreance (sort of, more has to come on that,) Dalinar v. Odium, Odium's champion, Dalinar 'Ascending' or whatever he did, Lift entering the main story, prominent placement of Worldhoppers, mulititude of Unmade, Nightblood's crazy powers shown and so many other things I can't remember because it's early and I need coffee. So what gets me most excited about book 4 is just what major events are going to be in the book, which right now is basically everything left I thought would be drawn out over multiple books. -A major interaction and convo with Cultivation -Ghostbloods becoming main narrative players and their goal revealed. -What's wrong with Roshar's afterlife, and just what the Tranquiline Halls really are. -Taln and Ash entering the main narrative as major players -Just what the heck is up with Shinovar -THE STRATA! -All Urithiru secrets -Everything about Ishar/Tezim, since now that the Heralds are known/being found, and Tezim is known as one, he's going to have a big role in book 4. -A certain someone from Mistborn showing up, just because. After the gloriousness and incredible journey that was OB, I really can't imagine what craziness Brandon will come up with next time around. EDIT: And one more thing to add. It's a little more obvious of a book 4 thing after how OB ended, but the results and affects of Dalinar's Oathbringer writing are going to be huge story wise, I think. Shallan's oath at the end of WoR had a MAJOR impact on her in OB, and I expect something similar, but on a national/Rosharian scale.
