Yep, I refuse to read mistborn. I came into this universe with alloy of law. And I don't really have an interest in the mistborn books. Yea Tesh. Talk to your guidance counselor. Tell them everything your telling us. They might actually be able to help you more then you'd think. And, if nothing else, they might be able to legitimize your feelings to your folks. Because they might agree with you, that you need professional help. And they might then tell your folks they think you need help from a professional.

For students, talk to your guidance coucelors. I know that conversation can be intimidating, believe me I know. But its better to get a handle on a mental health problem early. I wish I had told someone about my suicidal thoughts in highschool. I might have been suspended for a week or two, but I would have gotten treatment for my depression then. And maybe even seen someone about my substandard social skills. Instead of letting them fester for 3 decades, and only get worse. Now I'm 31, and only getting treatment after some unhealthy world views have solidified. That's just another barrier to get past, when I might not have had to do it when I was younger.

If I might be permitted to throw my 2 cents into here. If your child does have mental health issues with socialization, then I do think you should be teaching them what is and is not ok. That girl on the flight, she's still learning how to behave. But a pack mentality can come into play on flights, with nervous people making others nervous. Leading to an all out panic in an enclosed space. Thats the reason why you need to remove people like that from a flight. I get that she was disabled, and that shes still very young. But you need to ensure your child knows how to behave before taking them on a flight. Regarding that kid at the resturant, I do feel that the mother should be able to tell her son that its not ok to ask for food from someone, when they're injured. So far, I haven't heard of anyone who couldn't be taught in some way. though I have heard of people who needed to bring in a pro to help them teach. For me, I have similar social symptoms to autism. Difficulty making friends, difficulty holding a conversations, able to more easily bond with people much older or younger then me then people of my own age. That said, I don't have any other symptoms. I don't have a tactile obsession (though I do have some preferences, they aren't strong enough to make me avoid the ones I don't like). And I don't have any repetitive or ritualistic behaviors. And I have developed tricks during conversations I'm unfamiliar with, to at least kinda hold my own.

*nervously raises hand* I'm officially diagnosed with Dysthymia. I might also be autistic too, though that ones still up in the air (I think I might be, my family thinks its a defense mechanism from being hurt too many times, my therapist isn't sure one way or the other). Besides that, I'm taking an herbal anti-depressant (because I don't want to introduce another prescription medication into my life if I can help it) due to my inability to make friends and/or find a romantic partner. Edit:Also, that description of depression on the front page, is the best I've ever seen.

Thanks for the suggestions all! I'm actually having trouble powering my new Pi3 B+ atm. Still, its good to have these games stored away in my mind for later downloading. Unfortunately, the original playstation's graphics are a bit too much for a Rasberry pi to play atm. Perhaps in another few iterations that'll change, but not right now at least.

The women in this series bother me [1st book spoilers]
mattig89ch replied to mattig89ch's topic in The Wheel of Time
Man I am so glad I'm not alone here. I posted about this on a discord server, and had a user say that I didn't like strong women. And, wait, this series is 14 books long? I thought it was like 7 books long. Thats a giant series. I'm struggling to pick up book 2 atm, but another 13 of this reading really isn't all that apealing. Found a meme on imagur that sums up my feelings exactly: -
Ok, so I had to say this to some other folks who read the series. In my past, I have read up to the fall of tir. Or I think its tir. the fortress that can't fall, before its taken (not sure what that riddle is, but its something like that). But this was back when I was 14. I'm out of audio books to listen to atm, so I picked up the first book in the series, figuring it might make for some interesting reading. And after going through the first book again the women of this series, seem like bullies to me. Pushing and bullying the men into doing what they want. Or otherwise manipulating them into doing things their way. And...it bothers me. Every time the wisdom starts yelling, or threatened someone with her stick, I actually wanted to hit her in the mouth. Or break that stick of hers, and shove it somehwere unpleasant. Every time Morane just refused to answer questions, I wanted to hit her too. It really comes down to a feeling of 'who do you think you are, to tell me what to do?!' And 'Who do you think you are to say what I can and can't know?!'. I can understand them doing this once in a while. But it seemed like every other interaction was them forcing their will on others. Am I the only one who feels like this?

Whenever my cat is very very happy, and a little sleepy, he rolls on his back and lets me pet is tummy. He even kneeds the air, when he does so.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
mattig89ch replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Suffice it to say, I don't know what I don't know. I have celebrated Jewish holidays, with my moms best friend. But we were young at the time, and they were just hanging out with my aunt (not related by blood) and her daughters. I was raised roman catholic, but I have since run out of faith for all religions. *shrug* Lack of evidence. Still, hope our jewish forum members had fun! -

As much as I'd love to play them, the battlefront games were for the PS2/Xbox Original As for paper mario...that might work. If I can find a ROM for it. But thanks for the suggestion! Do you have any more? Edit: If it helps, check out the official page. It shows what consoles you can play roms from. https://retropie.org.uk/

Hello all, I only really game into gaming in the PS2 era. Prior to that, I had a few games on the N64, but not many. So I'm going to try and replicate my games from the N64. Starfox, Ocorana of Time, Excite Bike, Golden Eye, Rogue Squadron, Pod Racer, and The World is Not Enough was my N64 collection. But besides that, I'm blank on any good games from other consoles of that era. Or other good games from the N64 for that matter. I'm a big fan of scifi, mechs, shooters, and RPG's on consoles. So, what games do you all recommend?

Just got the latest email. And we're still fighting. But we aren't getting enough callers. We need more folks to show that they care about net neutrality. If you know anyone in the US, thats not calling, show them this email. Let them know they can help change things for the better.

Hidy ho all, First of all, yes this is still a thing. It hasn't gone away, yet. Which is why I'm posting this here. If your in America, or know someone who is, either go yourself or get them to go to battleforthenet. They have a form letter, that you can sign, which will send to your senator/congressman. Sadly, we are still fighting for our rights on the internet. And we need help from folks like you, your parents, your siblings, your next door neighbors, that creepy guy at the end of the block, your second cousins twice removed, ect. The above site, will give you a phone number to call, which will connect you with your reps. You can then ask them to fight for a free and open internet. Here's the latest email I have from battle for the net:

No no, I apreciate your feedback. So thanks for the 2 cents!

Interesting idea. Do you think it'd be good instead of the 'come and take it' text? Or on top of it?
-
I have actually thought about that. But I only have so much realestate on my backpack's velcro area. Right now, I have the US flag, my state flag, and then a youtube channels patch. And...I'm out of room. So The next patch I would want to condense multiple flags to one. How could I make it better?
-
I don't understand, thats a trigger? How so? As for me, I don't really like fantasy. I much prefer scifi, westerns, or mysteries. What do you think of my patch idea?
-
So, I had this idea for a custom morale patch. The goal of it would be to express the fact that I am a member of the LGBT community, given how I'm bi-sexual, and the fact that I support the 2nd amendment. The closest thing I could find, was a don't tread on me snake with a rainbow background. Neat, but not quite what I was looking for. So I contacted some custom patch makers, described my idea to them, and they all started saying they needed an image to work off of. So I created this in GIMP. Come and Take it LGBTQ Flag https://imgur.com/gallery/yl9AV What do you all think?
