  1. My questions were the following: Q: If the power of Adonalsium was intentionally shattered (perhaps to keep it safe), why did some of the shards stay together in one place (like on Sel, Scadrial, and Roshar)? Wouldn't it have been safer to split up? Brandon: The relationships of the holders of the shards influenced where they went (after the Shattering) more than anything. Follow Up Q: So friends or lovers stayed together? Brandon: Well, sure, but the relationships could have been more than just that, but it could have been like a business partnership or something. Follow Up Q: So have any other shards intentionally allied themselves to one another for various reasons (since the Shattering)? Brandon: RAFO! Follow Up Q: What can you tell me about Skai/Dominion's relationship with Aona/Devotion and why they decided to stay together in going to Sel? Brandon: RAFO! Q: Have any other shards ever bonded together like Harmony (Preservation and Ruin)? Brandon: RAFO. You get a card! =) Q: I have a feeling that the threat of Odium is really a red herring to a greater evil in the Cosmere, perhaps one we're starting to see in BoM? Brandon: (Smiling with a pause) You'll just have to RAFO! ------ This was such a cool experience and I'm so amazed that an author would take this kind of time to ask we his fans for questions about his work. I love that even when he wouldn't really answer my questions he still acknowledged my interest with a RAFO card, which I think is the ultimate way to respect fans while still protecting the secrets!
  2. I could definitely see Kelsier for the sake of a grudge hunting Hoid down, especially if he's seen by more than just Kelsier as a meddler in the cosmere. I like the idea of Kelsier's involvement in the greater Cosmere story extending beyond just Scadrial!
  3. To everyone at the Philly signing, it was a blast meeting some of you and I appreciate the warmth and friendliness you all showed me, especially with my little guy screaming for joy every two seconds!
  4. I'll be there and it's my first signing! =) I'm super pumped about this. Are these events usually crazy packed or is it reasonable to think that we'll be in line for an hour or so before meeting Brandon?
  5. While I love this theory, I'm pretty sure based on some new information around some of the people mentioned here this isn't true!
  6. It's now known from The Letter in WoK that the two Shards on Sel, Devotion and Dominion, were shattered by Odium at some point in the past. The result of this has been catastrophic, with the magic systems left unstable. In light of the insight we get from the original Mistborn trilogy: Now, with the release of Mistborn: Secret History: I'm curious if the two shards on Elantris are reclaimable again. My guess would be probably not, or else... But, does this mean it is impossible for the power of the Elantrian Shards to be claimed again in a new Vessel? I just get this feeling that a part of the overarching cosmere story will be an eventual quest to combine the Shards again, reversing the Shattering of Adonalsium in an effort to create a force strong enough to defeat whatever lingering evil is building in the background.
  7. As I've read through the Wax and Wayne series of Mistborn, the Set jumps out at me as a similar organization to the Ghostbloods. Especially in seeing that the Set is involved with off world affairs (i.e. it's own group of immortal beings), it seems like an interesting parallel if nothing else. The only snag in this theory is the ending of BoM: Blow this theory apart if you can - it's just been on my mind since AoL! =)
  8. My first post! =) I find it hard to believe that Harmony would have no influence or awareness of the Southern Continent. Holding a Shard seems to grant an awareness on a massive level. In SH: In SA: In Warbreaker and Elantris: The Southern Continent dwellers seem almost alien to what we've seen so far on Scadrial. Perhaps they all arrived from off world at some point?
