  1. It sure is.
  2. Hrathen is my all-time favorite sympathetic "villain" One of the most touching moments of the Stormlight archives is when the deserters are given a chance by Shallan to wipe the slate and start clean as heros. Including Gaz
  3. Welcome! It's hard to believe, but the books just get better. Stormlight is amazing Keep an eye out for any mention of a man named Hoid in each book you read.
  4. Sorry for the nit-pick. I think a lot of us love Brandon because of all the perfect details and so can get carried away focusing on them. Terrific summary! I'll send this to anyone that has read one or two and asks me what the Cosmere is. Oohhhhh you're in for a treat friend.
  5. I don't think Leras and Ati actually created Scadrial. Can anyone find WoB to confirm either way?
  6. I love how the first instinct as a reader is, "Awwwww, they're gonna end up being buds." But WoB confirm if they ever had dinner together they'd try to kill each other.
  7. Only way to win is not to... er... is to graphically threaten Hoid.
  8. Mine is poor eye contact Comes in handy against Medusas and Basilisks though
  9. I've read Evil Librarians 1-3, and I believe twice in the series Brand--er... Alcatraz teases me about staying up too late to keep reading, and both times, he was right! I had work in the morning! What was I doing? It is a testament to Sanderson's talent that this has happened with every book of his. It might even be his Smedry talent: Making people tired and unwilling to get out of bed.

    First!

And while you're here: I can't find an answer to the question that drove me to create an account: Is there any WoB dealing with how dreams affect the Cognitive Realm?

    First!

Thanks! also just discovered that the theoryland database has been updated! There goes the next hour...
  12. This might make me old, but this is the very first online community I have ever joined (not counting facebook). As a result, I'm going to be fairly new to how forums work, but worth it because I love Sanderson's work more than anything except my wife. It's a photo finish with my 1 year-old. I love the cosmere, but I'm not terribly clever. I can't predict anything that happens, and I stand in awe of all the puzzle pieces you sharders put together. Is there a comprehensive, up-to-date repository for words of Brandon? the theoryland one is old. Anyway. Glad to be here.
  13. Far and away Hrathen. Most believable "bad guy" I've ever met. I've even been in his position, where I feel I have to defer to someone else's zealotry, wondering at my own lack of passion. It was an amazing experience to discover that others might understand how I feel.
  14. We may be seeing the same stall in technology that Harmony laments. If Elantrians can make food out of thin air, why invent the plow?
  15. Vineyarddawg is ducking and running because he's daring to suggest that Calamity Earth is part of the Cosmere.
  16. When I tapped open the first page on my Kindle and read, "Kelsier burned the Eleventh Metal." I broke into an ear-to-ear grin. Other moments of delight that made my wife wonder if I was OK: Kelsier punching Leras "Not with that attitude" Hoid rowing in Kelsier winning the insult battle Kelsier meeting Khriss and Nazh
  17. Surprised I haven't found this anywhere: How do normal, boring dreams interact with the Cognitive Realm?
  18. By the time Robert Jordan passed, I was honestly a little tired of Wheel of Time. I felt the stories were getting slower and more disjointed. Then some dude named Sanderson was announced to finish the series, and I was all, "Psssh. It's going to be horrible. Don't trust it a bit." I finally, reluctantly picked up the Gathering Storm and it blew me away (har). I felt guilty for liking it more than Jordan's own. Mat was actually funny ("Women are like goats...")! I tore through the rest of the series in a matter of weeks, staying up late and skipping classes. When I reached the end, I went to the library and grabbed Mistborn, then Elantris, then Way of Kings, then I discovered the Cosmere and Words of Brandon and my life will never be the same.
