  1. Two months, one week, and three days in, Kally regretted enlisting. Every day, she looked out among the desolate wilds of Nebrask, watching for a single hint of white that could be a wild chalking. Every day, she traced over lines, circles, and more lines. It always left a white stain on her fingerprints, and after the fifth day, she'd stopped bothering to wash it off. For the past two months, one week, and two days, she'd been dreaming of going on the one week leave granted to soldiers every three months. But now, she had to deal with this. She would be excited by this break in the tedium, if not for how terrifying it was. Kally paced back and forth in camp, trying to think of what to do next. Xino, are you here?
  2. The shading here is really cool.
  3. Hello. Can't say much today because I have a pile of homework I should be doing, but I can definitely post more tomorrow. I'm not sure how much I like Joe's plan of announcing what items we're taking are. That basically tells the elims what our plans are. More thoughts on this to come tomorrow so I don't procrastinate any further today.
  4. When will this game start?
  5. Sign me up as Kally
  6. I would like to note that on Friday (which I believe was D1), Lum PMed me saying that she had an extra win condition to convert players toward her goals. Most notably, she said that this alliance could involve spammers. Thus, I do not believe that she is nearly as village-aligned as she has claimed, though I do not believe her to be a spammer.
  7. After lynching not one but two spammers in a row, this is how I am seen? Persecution! Heresy! Proof of the world's bias against the Enlightened! If you recall, on D1 I was the first vote on Guest. I called them out for bandwagoning without explanation and left my vote their for the rest of the cycle. On D2, yes, I was initially trusting of Devotary. However, I was the one to ask what role they had, to see if I could catch them in a lie, and then I jumped on them for that. I left that vote, too, for the rest of the cycle. It is possible, of course, that I could be a spammer. I have been known for being bussed by teammates, though not quite as much for being the one to bus them. That I would choose to fling myself onto the lynches of two teammates within the first two cycles simply seems like bad strategy.
  8. I must interrupt this heartwarming comment in order to do some fact corrections. *takes off priest hat First of all, Wilson is typically associated with Light, the soft morning glow and harsh afternoon glare alike. Meta, in the old order, was death, clean and simple. Not the gloat of an enemy or the sobs of those left behind, but the creeping inevitability that takes all without judgement. And finally, of course, we come to Orlok. Orlok is easy to satirize, hard to understand. The basic persona is that of a rules-lawyering tyrant in the making who would impose British culture on everybody. I've been satirizing him all game as this, and many times before this game, but that is not who he is as a mod deity, or should be. If I had to describe what Orlok represents, I'd say that he's an attempt to understand. Humanity's struggles to find a semblance of how or why things happen the way they do, our best construction against the chaos and pain of this world. That doesn't mean that he's right, or we're right. If you know him, he takes great joy in debating anything, and often will argue against his own beliefs, just to mess with you. For him, part of the joy is in the process, the observation, inference, and updating of our models of how we think the world works. In a loose way, this could be considered to be control -- but barely. Do you control the weather because you hear that there's an 80% of rain and take your umbrella with you? Of course not. But someone in a bad mood who didn't bring their umbrella can take solace from knowing that rain is just precipitation of water, and that it is not a malicious act of the world, even if now they are sopping wet and every footstep squelches. In the same way, one can draw comfort from being able to understand why the world works as it does, and plan around it, even if they cannot stop it. *ends preaching As the person who first talked up Orlok's persona from nothing, I feel like he deserves to be more than the cardboard cutout mock terror of a 15 year old's imagination
  9. Curse this mobile inability to delete quotes; I no longer remember why I selected it. This behavior seems extremely inconsistent with what an actual doctor would do. A rational villager accused of being an eliminator due to role interactions would usually claim their true role, as their primary concern would not be avoiding being killed by spammers, and would instead be avoiding being killed by the lynch. Furthermore, a doctor role is valuable enough to the village that claiming it can make others back off of a lynch, and it is far more plausible that a doctor would choose to protect themselves than a random redirect. This behavior is far more consistent with a spammer who panicked, created a bad lie, and has only in hindsight thought of a better one.
  10. Strangely enough, I do not remember why I quoted this. Alas, I am on mobile and cannot delete it. Tragedy! Personally, I believe that Cadcom's actions until now fit the profile of a villager seeking to look clever. While I question the execution of his gambit, it has revealed useful information, and I now see the wisdom in potentially lynching Devotary this cycle. Devotary. What's the name of your role?
  11. This seems rather like an overreaction. You would offer yourself up for the lynch just because one player (who others have found suspicious) has claimed suspicion of you? I would almost think that a spammer ploy to draw pity from others. A list of the players who did not vote on Roadwalker or Guest (based off of the manipulated vote tally, so speak up if you have been wrongly counted in this list). Droughtbringer, Xinoehp512, Furamirionin,d Randuir, I think I am here., Fifth Scholar, Cadmium Compounder, Lumgol, Snipexe, Rathmaskal, Araris, Kidpen, Hemalurgic Headshot, Amanuensis, Sapphire Elephant, Walin I notice that Araris has not posted today. Perhaps a vote will encourage him to contribute.
  12. A look at the Roadwalker votes I have gone through and recorded all votes and interactions in thread relating to Roadwalker, Guest, and other prominent lynch trains. The stated reasons for each action are marked by parenthesis. Where possible, players are referred to by their actual account names. For example, "Aranduensis" is referred to as "Rand". Color code My commentary is in purple. Assumed villagers are marked blue, known spammers are marked orange. Event record Elandera votes on Road (inactivity) Elephant votes on Road (inactivity) Itiah votes on Road (no reason given) Could be interpreted to mean that Itiah is village. Since it's so early in the cycle, it could be a distancing tactic, especially if Itiah expected Road to be able to post. Cadcom defends Road and votes on Itiah (dislikes piling votes on an inactive) Not suspicious by itself, a third vote on an inactive so early in the cycle is unnecessary. Ada votes on Elandera (suspicion for not trying hard enough with analysis), now at 2 Steel votes on me (joke vote, outrage at my evangelicizing), now at 2 Ada retracts from Elandera (got a response) Fifth votes on Steel (suspicion for vote on me) and defends Road (lynch would not be informative) Same as for Cadcom, this early in the cycle, an inactivity lynch train is less useful. Lum retracts from me (not suspicious anymore) Steel retracts from me (my content was useful enough after all), currently no lynch votes on me Fura votes on me (no useful content) Guest votes on me (no reason given) I vote on Guest (bandwagoning) Clear village move here. Guest claims to have been bandwagoning for the sake of it and then retracts (doesn't want to vote) Start of spammer panic for being called out on unsupported vote. Lum defends Road (wonders if he might be Elephant and unable to post) Elandera attacks Lum's defense of Road (Elephant voted on Road) Bard retracts from Lum (too wolfy to be a wolf), defends me (bandwagoning without reason), and votes on Road (to swing the lynch off of me) Should be noted that at that time I only had one vote. Still, villagery move. Alv defends Road (wonders if he might be Elephant and unable to post, same reasoning as Lum) Slight village read for this. I think an eliminator would try to put up a defense that hasn't already been struck down, though he did say that he'd only skimmed the thread. Fura defends and attacks Road (acknowledges Elephant's vote but also says it might be a distancing attempt) Itiah encourages Road lynch (inactivity is a good reason to lynch) Consistent with earlier actions. Since this is later in the cycle, it makes it less likely that this is a distancing attempt. In general, I think it is unlikely that the spammers would choose to bus an important role D1, so those who pushed to lynch Road later in the cycle are probably village. Rand attacks Guest (for bandwagoning) Maill defends Road (has been viewing thread, inactivity not in character) I attack Guest (for bandwagoning) Maill votes on Guest (no reason given) Steel defends Road (potential role issues) and votes on Guest (suspicious post) Alv votes on Guest (to create a tie) Here the tie shenanigans start. I don't think this is enough to deem Alv village, because a spammer Alv would also have to create a tie here in order to stay consistent with previous games. A spammer Alv who had to pick between lynching two teammates probably would still find glee in putting their fate up to the RNG. Elephant votes on Guest (to break the tie) Devotary defends and attacks Road and Guest, post is inconclusive Alv retracts from Guest and votes for Road (to keep the tie) Elephant votes on Road (to break the tie) Devotary votes on Road (to further break the tie) Slight villagery move to Devotary. Most spammers in this situation would prefer to lynch their less powerful member, which in this case was Guest. Alv retracts from Road to vote on Guest (to keep the tie) Elephant retracts from Road (no reason given) Conclusion Village reads: Elandera, Elephant, Bard, Itiah, me Slight village reads: Devotary, Alv, Rand, Ada Neutral: Steel Slight spammer reads: Fura Spammer reads: None
  13. Agreed! I will say this though, Maill -- I was being cautious because I'm usually cautious about roles, and I didn't want to give a potential spammer any more information than I had to until I deemed you village/elim. Hence the "games" as you called them. It's late and sleepy!Rae is out now. High Priest will be back tomorrow.
