  1. As people noted in the other topic, the Scar is a group of stars known by different names across the Cosmere. It's called Taln's Scar on Roshar for example and the Red Rip on Scadrial. We know from this WoB that all of these refer to the same set of stars, though naturally they don't appear exactly the same from every vantage point.

Needless to say perhaps, all specific questions about it end in RAFOs.

  2. So the Famitsu scans have come out and while there isn't as much as I was expecting, we did get some interesting new Kuro info and confirmation on some things we've expected but haven't been hard confirmed previously.

    Spoiler

    - Elaine Auclair (24) is, as we knew, Van's childhood friend and the current youngest bracer to ever reach A-rank. She's known as the Sword Maiden and her weapon is identified as a 'Knight's Sword'. She's voiced by Saitou Chiwa.

    - René Kincaid (25) is Van's other childhood friend and a highly successful agent of the CID. It's mentioned that he's Elaine's biggest (actually it says only) supporter and his joining the CID hasn't changed that. He uses a military-issue pistol. Voiced by Fukuyama Jun.

    - The Central Intelligence Department is confirmed to be the successor to the Rocksmith Agency (which we've suspected) and Kilika is identified as its former chief, but after Gramheart's election the CID was reorganized into three bureaus and Kilika was placed in charge of the Joint Analysis Center.

    - There's discussion about how the Bracers and Spriggans don't see eye to eye

    - The Alignment Frame has three parameters: Law, Grey and Chaos. Decisions made during the game (in quest resolution and dialogue options for example) will change your score and later on this will affect the narrative with different groups being willing to work with you depending on your alignment. There's a shot of Zin and the party with the caption 'If Law is high' and another showing Cao with the caption 'If Chaos is high'.

Yeah, even the characters aren't sure what's up with that either...

Is the Shardpool the "Eye of the Storm", a calm spot in the plasma storm?

This WoB seems to suggest it's not, as Brandon says that a Hoed who entered the Perpendicularity would find themselves in a dangerous environment without any preparation and under normal circumstances things would probably not end well.

    Stormlight Archive spoiler

    Spoiler

We know from Oathbringer that Riion somehow survived the experience. Since we're told he became a member of the Ire after the events of Elantris, it's possible they had a hand in it but that's just a guess.

  4. That could be an interesting way of allowing for some characters introduced in works set on Sel to show up in the chronologically later books, depending on how much dilation they experience. I mean, Elantrians themselves are functionally immortal so any of them could (in theory) hang around until the very end of the Cosmere's story but if the effect is big enough it might be possible for some mortal characters to show up as well even though their stories might take place hundreds and hundreds of years before the 'present' that is SA and MB2, or works beyond those. I'm thinking Shai first and foremost.

I think I see the worms. Are these the worms? Like the worms? The ones that attack for half your health when you attack them? The ones Tha come in groups of 8? The ones that if you dare use an s-craft on them will kill you 4 times over? Are they back for a third time?

Yes, yes they are. They appear in Hajimari as well and if they don't show up in Kuro I'll be very surprised.

    Spoiler

That said, they're considerably less painful to deal with in Cold Steel compared to Azure.

  6. Yeah, C's Chapter 4 is full of incident for how relatively short it is.

    Spoiler

Smug cheating bastard Rufus in his duel with Duvalie... but it's kind of her own fault for not specifying 'And no Orbment shenanigans'. And then not only do you get her but Arios, who's absolutely insane to play with, even moreso than he was in Azure.

Oh yeah, so on Elysion, that's another none-too-subtle Gagharv nod and for bonus points, the creepy appearance and name of Emperor=Dogma calls back to the final boss of that trilogy. Seeing Nadia and Swin take him down (again) was so satisfying.

Would be nice if the Bracer Guild finally gets to experience the fallout for their actions. "Non-interference in the political affairs of other nations" my ass. Erebonia and Calvard should've banned them after the stunt they pulled in Liberl, and especially after CS4.

If countries had a problem with that, they should have read the bracers' charter more carefully before agreeing to it. Meanwhile, the guild did have troubles in Erebonia, but they were too useful to completely get rid of and with the way things ended up, banning them from operating in the Empire after the events of CS4 was just never going to happen. To say nothing of Liberl after FC.

  8. Haven't played any of the Switch ports so I couldn't say either.

Also, we got a character confirmation for Kuro via Twitter of the 'well of course they were showing up' variety, but it's nice to know for sure. Very minor CS4 spoiler:

    Spoiler

The person she's talking to may be a bracer since the term she's using has only been used in the games before to refer to the guild, but it's also broad enough that it could be referring to some other organization.

Oh, and there's also going to be an event next Thursday featuring a virtual JDK Band concert, a message from Kondo and 'special announcements'.

We met Novartis, fought a fake McBurn, got Noel, if I had a nickel for every time Renne murdered dolls of her parents, I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. We fought Emperor, and he turned out to be fake like I thought, and now Rufus is going off to meet Grimwood

All in all, very eventful day

Yeah, a lot happens in Chapter 3, across all the routes. Just wait until you start Chapter 4 because there's a beautiful scene at the start of C's route which comments on events near the end of the route in the prior Chapter.

    Spoiler

I'll just say this: Lapis is a treasure and that gang plays so well off each other.

I think “The Glint of Cold Steel” track might be dethroning “Fate of the Fairies” as my favorite regular battle track. What is everyone else’s fave?

My favorite would be Get Over The Barrier but that almost feels like it's cheating. Glint of Cold Steel's a great one too and I'm also really fond of Seize the Truth from Azure and a two-way tie of Like a Whirlwind and Wind-Up Yesterday from Hajimari. If I had to pick one that isn't Barrier I'd go with Seize the Truth.

However, if you included rearranges I'd have to throw in this version of Sophisticated Fight.

Not a theory, but a thing I noticed after compulsively listening to the final boss theme. I swear I hear just a little bit of Shine of Eidos in it. Actually, I could also swear that I hear the lyrics saying Shine of Eidos at one point. Don't think it has any relevance but I feel paranoid about it.

Sometimes it's really hard to tell what they're singing but I don't recall anything that sounded like that. A couple times you can make out words though; they seem to like borrowing from the Dies Irae when they have a chorus but there's definitely English in some of the vocals. Unfortunately, they're rarely nice enough to give us a transcription, like they did with Ys Origin for the lyrics that play during Termination.

That said, if parts of the song sounded familiar there's a good reason for it: The Great Power shares a melody with Vermillion Capital of Heimdallr.

    ..........what?

    So ummm CS1 ending stuff

      Hide contents

Crem really went down really quickly.

I knew Vita was with Ouroboros but a freaking Anguis?

I also didn't know there would be mecha battles so soon.

What is considered the final boss here? The 40-minute one with Latin vocals or the glory run of a battle that is the Divine Knight?

And that was one heck of a cliffhanger. It's like FC but this one is even bigger.

Actually the whole game is like FC all over again, but twice as big. I clocked twice as many hours, the cliffhanger was even more sudden. Crap. I had only heard about how shocking CSIII's ending was so this came as a surprise.

I can't even put my thoughts in order enough to make theories at the moment, I just want to keep playing.

And now you know why my response to your question earlier was 'Maybe' xD

    Spoiler

    - Yep! Fun fact, Kondo recently confirmed a suspicion that fans have had for years, that the woman on the Lusitania who flirts with Kevin was the Second Anguis all along. There's a few hints buried in the game if you're looking really carefully, and some foreshadowing in Zero that only becomes obvious in retrospect.

    - A lot of people seem to forget that the Soldats show up in the opening movie until the ending reminds them of it. This is one of those things that Falcom very briefly teased before the game first came out, in a short commercial that was released a few weeks prior to release IIRC. And like the OP shot, it's one of those things you can easily forget about in all the gameplay leading up to that point.

    - Both of them, kinda. Loa Erebonius is the final boss for all intents and purposes when it comes to the regular gameplay, since the only fight after it is the Drakkhen (plus the unwinnable battle with Scarlet's Spiegel) but Ordine is the final boss in story terms even though it uses its own new system.

    - Indeed, welcome to the evil cliffhanger of doom. And yeah, CS1 has a lot of the same vibe that FC did, to the point that several of the quests were straight repeats in new locations to give a bit of nostalgia for the players who started from the beginning. Not to mention that progression is pretty similar except that instead of a constant grand tour of a country you have a hub location you return to in between visits to far-flung locales.

Whenever you do get your thoughts in order enough to start coming up with theories, I'll be looking forward to reading them.

Well, wouldn't a reassembly of Adonalsium mean exactly that to a very large degree? All Shards gone, all Seons gone, the Skaze, too. The Dor gone. The Stormfather again only a storm.

Seeing how Brandon described the Shattering as meaning everything and nothing to Investiture, I don't think that if Adonalsium were recreated in some way it would necessarily be the end of the Cosmere as we know it.

Also, I should point out that we have no evidence that such a thing is actually going to happen...

I noticed I can still upgrade the orbment, so I'm fully expecting something else.

I love Victor's reaction when he's told his daughter helped take down an eldritch horror. As in, I love how he barely reacts at all.

Also, the presentation really could have used something extra, Spika style idk. It's just uncomfortable when the song playing in the background doesn't match what the characters are doing on-screen.

Yeah, that could have used more work to feel 'real' but I can see why they didn't want to rerecord a song and pay multiple VAs to sing it, just for verisimilitude.

takes so long to get through these bits to get to the Keep part. I’m “about to go in” meaning later tonight or tomorrow’s 4PM session. Been wondering if Tita was going to join considering so many others have done so this game. Testing out a mech suit.

FYI, that's the continuation of a plot thread that was started in The 3rd, and then expanded on in Azure. Very minor spoilers for those games:

    Spoiler

The original Orbal Gear was designed by the Russell family at the ZCF based on the 'Vanguard' archaism deployed by Ouroboros and was test-piloted by Tita. It made her one of the best characters in the game. The Epstein Foundation took that research and created the Eidolon Gear which Tio used, though in her case it was just treated as a high-powered S-Craft.

I'm at what looks like the final dungeon. But isn't it a bit too early in the chapter? Or is this a case where we get through a few hours of dungeon first and the rest, however long, is pure unadultered story?

    Mmmmmmaybe. xD

Oh yeah, since you're there, a fun factoid about that boss you're fighting, tagged for anyone who hasn't gotten to CS1's final chapter yet

    Spoiler

Loa Erebonius is named for the Spirit of Darkness from Cagesong of the Ocean, the final game in the Gagharv Trilogy, which was the sub-series of Legend of Heroes before Trails. We were waiting since Sky FC to see if 'Erebonia' was in some way connected to 'Erebonius' and after six games, Falcom said 'Yes'. xD

Now that I think about it it may have happened twice that chapter. I had some other thing pop up when I first switched to the PS5 but assumed it was just a bug out.

I assume its new game+? Is it spoilery going forward?

When you see the message about how recording is stopped, it means the developer doesn't want to make it (quite so) easy to record the scene, to reduce the likelihood that it's going to make its way onto the internet and spoil other people. For your purposes, just think of it as 'Important Scene Ahead'. Or, y'know, disable notifications so you don't see them in the future.

Or if it was advanced enough to have pictures and film there would be something for people to remember. It would be like if Scadrial was destroyed after Era 3, since it’s supposed to be 1980’s level technology, would seeing any movies allow it to still be seen in the CR or would it still vanish since it’s an image of the past?

I have a suspicion (but can't prove it) that you'd get a situation analogous to the example Brandon gives in the WoB about a moon's Cognitive reflection when people know about it but haven't actually visited it. Scadrial (or New York in your other hypothetical) would probably have some small and funky patch in the CR because people remember that there used to be something there, but it wouldn't be the kind of full representation you'd get from a region that's inhabited by thinking beings.

Just listen to Hajimari's music. Holy hell is there some good stuff.

Oh yeah, Hajimari has some amazing music. It also finally gave the Poms their own fitting theme, right as it brings them firmly back to the Metal Slime-esque grinder's paradise they started out as. xD

So far the stuff we've heard for Kuro is pretty good too. And while it's not (so far at least) a proper Kiseki game, Nayuta's soundtrack is awesome.

    CS3 ch 3 ending

      Reveal hidden contents

phew I’m so happy I’m done with that chapter. I had such bad luck on day 1 with my 3 redo’s it really slowed me down/hindered my enjoyment. What an ending though...much was easy to see coming like Musse as the new Duchess/the conformation of Crow but the George thing...yeah I didn’t see that whammy coming.. I’d be shocked if Angie is actually dead. That group is truly not what they seem. Now I’m waiting on Towa to pull some crazy reveal. The Gaius build up was really cool. I enjoyed him so much this chapter and wondered why he had no S craft. He’s going to get a super build up I suspect after that.

My PS5 said something about a blocked scene which I ain’t to happy about..

That was a stellar ending to my least favorite chapter. I’m kinda tuckered out though so it’s a good chance I will not do my standard 11:15PM what till ambien kicks in playtime tonight cause I know it’s going to be a long skit but I’m excited to see what’s next so who knows..

Will 100 do it in AM to get through skit so I have some controlled play for 4PM.

    Good stuff!

Yeah, when you see that message pop up you know something's going down. And it did...

I got George from my gacha, very happy, I like George a lot. The Episodes I played were the Schera/Olivier door, which was really cute and wholesome and I really liked it, and the Millium/Altina/Jusis/Alisa door, which was really cute and wholesome and I really liked it and OH MY GOD MILLIUM CURLING UP IN LAMMY'S ARMS IS THE C U T E S T THING I HAVE EVER SEEN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I knoooooow, I think I got diabetes in the best way from watching the latter of those two Episodes.

    Spoiler

You clearly had better RNG than I did, George was one of the last characters I got so I couldn't put together my Upperclassmen Quartet team for the Corridor until almost the endgame. Thank you Falcom for finally giving him an S-Craft too.

I do find it hilarious that way back when they were promoting CS1, Falcom actually told us George's weapon (well, they said 'Hammer' rather than 'Combat Shell as a hammer' but close enough) four full games before we got to actually see it.

Ao spoils way too much of the Eastern Erebonia arc.

It spoils one thing in endgame CS2 that was so blatantly obvious that a blind person could have seen it coming from a mile away (and in case you somehow couldn't, early CS2 drops enough hints to kickstart your mental processes) and another thing from CS1 that was so heavily foreshadowed that if you couldn't figure out it was coming a few hours into that game you weren't paying attention, hence it isn't really a spoiler.

  19. 2 hours ago, aneonfoxtribute said:

It's on PS3? I didn't know that. I don't remember what the censorship is in FC and SC, but there is a really major censorship in 3rd which I think hurt it a lot.

XSEED never released The 3rd on anything but the PC version which lacks such censoring (mainly because the PSP was very dead by that time) so it's basically a non-issue. They did manage to port over all the nice PSP additions though.

There's nothing censored in FC/SC, but the PSP versions of those two (and especially the former) are inconsistent with later releases since they couldn't be patched post-release with all the updated names and tweaks.
