  1. Well, Vorinism is monotheistic and three Shards were involved in events on Roshar, so it's obviously not fully accurate. Now, The Almighty seems to be primarily based on Honor, but with attributes and actions of the other Shards mixed in.
  2. Well, gems used in high-drain applications shatter and become useless, so they leave circulation. And getting gemhearts from animals is going to be a logistic function under the best practically achievable conditions while Soulcasting gems would be unbounded exponential growth if it made more gems than it destroyed. So with gemhearts and Soulcasting the supply could remain more-or-less constant. Having the amount trapped by a given gem diminish would seem to require continuous monitoring, and capping the total might cause Highstorms to fall apart before hitting the mountains, with devastating ecological impact.

There's always the possibility that they represent alloys of the Shard metals. They theoretically could also represent sounds/numbers without any Allomantic meaning, but given that it's both a pretty simple alphabet and the symbols have a specific additional meaning, I'd expect them to use multiple symbols or modifiers instead of expanding the character set.
  4. 54. Actually, Nohadon founded the Knights Radiant, so that vision must predate the prelude. Also, clearly Honor was still alive as of the Feverstone Keep vision and created the journal later because he directly witnessed the events of every vision except the last one. 56. Apparently.
  5. What this would imply is that Heightening-related sight enhancement doesn't alter the image and is a purely mental effect. It's not like "enhancing" an image; the information existed in the original image but could not be interpreted. Now, if it's accurate that would imply that, for some reason, people on Nalthis actually store what they see before interpreting it into colors and shapes. It could also be that he mentally filled in the details later, which is pretty common. I'd generally expect such memories would basically normalize colors to the center of the range, but Returned might not do that because they don't recall getting their color perception boosted. Or maybe Lightsong had enough Breath to distinguish colors to that degree at the time; he was apparently quite good at a high-end job and could have afforded to buy some.
  6. The jackets are much less powerful. And the explosion and shot were close enough together that Prof must have extended the shield to protect him prior to the shot being fired. Also, obstructions in gun barrels can potentially interfere in the physics that make the gun send a projectile forwards instead of exploding, although you're right that it might not have been wedged in enough for that.
  7. I could kinda see it working on some of the Shards, not by mutual destruction but by tossing a highly destructive Intent into the mix and causing it to fragment, assuming that the Intent comes along for the ride instead of the power reverting to raw power of creation and then getting aspected to the receiving Shard. However, I don't see that working on the already relatively hostile Shards. It would be extraordinarily useless against Ruin, I would think. Ruin and Preservation were particularly antithetical to each other, so I don't think the other Shards would necessarily cause mutual destruction on contact.
  8. Kwaan had figured out that the well was a prison and that the prophecies were being tampered with to trick Alendi into opening it, so Rashek probably learned some of it from him. I got the impression that Rashek figured out the whole story about halfway through using the power, since he made Koloss and Inquisitors first, then made Kandra and set up the last-minute doublecross.
  9. I kind of doubt actual time travel was involved with the visions. For one thing, it's unprecedented in the Cosmere. Also, if Honor can send someone else back in time to change history, I'd think he could go back himself. Plus, if Dalinar's suggestion actually prompted the writing of The Way Of Kings, we have a serious causality problem. Dalinar suggested writing a book because he had heard it read. That's a four thousand year long closed time loop, and I doubt anyone recognizable as Dalinar would have initiated it. I think it's much more likely that the visions are just a sophisticated simulation. Also, the last vision is a repeat of the first one Dalinar saw, although it's also not in the past.
  10. The jackets seem to trigger on unexpected threats like sudden falls. If they had to be actively triggered, they would be of questionable value in more chaotic situations. Plus, the jackets don't seem to interfere with what the user is doing, even in large battles, so it doesn't seem likely that the active state of the shield prevents harmless contact, meaning no particular reason to ever turn it off. I suppose the jackets might only trigger when the wearer perceives a threat, but I doubt it. If that were the case they'd be ineffective against surprise attacks, and there's no evidence that is the case. While the Reckoners might have missed that because it's lost in the noise of the jackets being a tad unreliable, I think Prof would have told them about it and claimed it was a neural interface. The general unreliability of the jackets probably has to do with Prof redistributing power between the users and/or needing to recharge. We see one partially block an entirely anticipated attack that's apparently below the maximum threshold, so it probably isn't based on triggering condition. I'm not sure why Prof wouldn't have given that group full power, but it's possible he channeled some extra to Davis. Or maybe he was more worried someone would attack the hideout while they were out.
  11. I expect the main reason he hasn't made his interest in the death quotes public and asked for help is that he'd need to explain why he was so interested. The other problems could be managed, but he'd need a convincing explanation of why he's doing it to get any solid help. That could attract unwanted attention, and it would also make other kings inclined to collect them and learn too much. He's not terribly powerful, so his only real hope of uniting Roshar is to avoid attracting attention until the final step of the plan is ready.
  12. I think it really is just amount and rate of tapping, but normal bloodmakers would have extreme difficulty storing enough to regenerate their brain while a bullet is passing through it. I'm not sure exactly how much damage is required to make them officially dead and unable to tap, but I expect that having the brain stem severed for any length of time would do it.
  13. I don't think that Shallan used the Shardblade to kill her father. There was apparently quite a lot of blood, which usually implies wounds inflicted prior to death, and Shallan doesn't strike me as the type to manically slash at a corpse again and again. We know that dropped Shardblades will often carve tracks through stone before vanishing, so one that dropped on the death of the wielder might cut as well, which would account for the Soulcaster.
  14. They'd be pretty ineffective against the external physicals and of dubious value against Thugs. As for frangible rounds against a Bloodmaker, I guess that they'd tear up more organs and require more healing, but not do anything particularly special and the fragments would be ejected with the healing.
  15. The jackets appear to be automatic, so I would assume his shield is as well. I don't think we see him sick, and even if he doesn't have a heightened immune response diseases don't deal damage fast enough to outrun his healing factor.
  16. Since burning metal without using the power can be detected by bronze, I think it would be sufficient to become a savant.
  17. I think T might be planning to unite the world under his control for the Desolation, and is working to destroy all existing power structures to facilitate that. The Alethi are the most powerful military force on Roshar, so if someone else unites the Highprinces it would be extremely difficult to force them into line. I hardly approve of his methods, but I could potentially see it working. For the moment, I'm reserving moral judgement; his plan is justified if and only if he had reason to believe it would work and more palatable alternatives would not. Personally, I think he'd be better off spreading the information around, but he might have reasonably concluded that he has little chance of convincing the leaders of other nations. The death quotes are potentially pretty valuable if they can be correctly interpreted. Whatever their precise source, they appear to contain information on Desolations that is not otherwise available and predict future events. There's no reason to believe that the king of a city with the largest library on the continent and who clearly knows a good bit about Shin culture and current events has not accessed other sources of information, but the prior Desolation was thousands of years ago. Any remaining information is at best fragmentary and much of it is of questionable veracity. I would not be quick to dismiss gathering death quotes as pointless. From what fragments we have, I get the distinct sense that even if all of Roshar's military might is gathered together, they'll still need an edge. For instance, it would be pretty great if they knew where and when it would start, what sort of tactics Voidbringers might use, what forms they take and what weapons work against those, and, oh, anything at all about Odium. I don't know that they're so critical to saving the world that kidnapping and murder to collect them is justified, however. However, I also can't condemn the Alethi in general or Dalinar in particular. The Parshendi assassinated a king under the cover of creating an alliance, and as far as the Alethi can tell it was unprovoked. Anything less than the arrest and execution of the responsible parties would have been unacceptable to the Alethi. The Parshendi did nothing of the kind. Now, Dalinar had come to feel the war was dragging into a stalemate and undermining the stability of the kingdom, so he wanted to look into a negotiated settlement, but the Alethi in general dislike backing down, so instead Dalinar opted to work for a change of strategy to force the war to a swift conclusion. As for their border skirmishes, that's historically not actually uncommon. The Highprinces can call on large bodies of troops in their own right, so when they have territorial disputes they can resort to force of arms to resolve them. Since their power does not come from Elhokar, attempting to force them to heel risks a civil war. And it's fairly likely that if he tries to depose a Highprince for anything short of high treason, the others will revolt out of fear they'll be next. Plus, he's in the middle of a war, so he really can't afford to anger any Highprince badly enough for them to pull out. Once the war is over, he'll have a freer hand and theoretically the backing of the two most powerful Highprinces, leaving him in a much better position to start actually accomplishing things. I'll grant they are culturally inclined towards aggression, though. They've got a ruling warrior class, who justify their positions by combat prowess. That doesn't really lend itself to peace and stability.
  18. Cast the guy who played Superman in Man Of Steel as Steelheart.
  19. Shotguns don't really spread that much, and the ones that spread more have difficulty penetrating much of anything. I suggested it for Sliders on the theory that tagging them with some pellets might hurt them enough they stay still for a bit so you can shoot them with something more useful.
  20. The bubbles apparently do blur and distort light a bit, actually. People who know what they're looking for can detect a bubble from how it interferes with light. I'm not sure if it's operating on the light itself or if it's an artifact of how it interacts with air, though. As for why they don't cause blueshift/redshift, light interacts pretty oddly with relativistic time dilation and might interact equally oddly with the bubbles. The relative velocity of light is the same in any reference frame; blueshift/redshift occurs because the source is getting closer or further away, not because they're experiencing time at different rates. The bubbles break relativity, since they don't cause Lorentz Contraction, but that might still hold constant. I don't think Cognative perception entirely explains it, since the bubbles are a localized phenomenon and light is generated from outside the bubble. However, I recall we've got WoB that objects crossing the boundary actually gain/lose kinetic energy instead of simply appearing to do so due to the different timeframe, so the bubble might do the same with light. With a fixed time ratio, adjusting the frequency would be a fairly straightforward multiplication/division.
  21. I doubt that would really help all that much. They'd still have their momentum and the collateral damage from that much heating/cooling would be considerable.

It's not a descriptive difference, the mists are the physical body of Leras and the mist creature forms from them. It could not be encountered in a form not made up of the mists. The theory is definitely plausible; I had assumed he got stabbed for the same reason Elend got stabbed, but you're right that the description doesn't fit. Though that begs the question of why Ruin doesn't pull the same trick again. I guess it might have been energy-intensive and he wound up thoroughly outmaneuvered that time, so he didn't want to expend the effort of trying that route again unless needed..
  23. The characters definitely felt different, but I generally approved. Mat has been deliberately exaggerating his behavior in an effort to avoid becoming husbandly. Perrin was, uh, kind of always like that. Moiraine has always been good at self-control and a highly dramatic tone was quite suitable for returning from death by walking in on a meeting about the end of the world and ordering around kings. She acts differently later.
  24. Possibly, but only if they can get their Shards reassembled or provide advice to other intact ones. While Shards possess a finite amount of power, it's on a much grander scale than humans have access to. Then again, Sel is pretty well-informed on Cosmere mechanics and that information could prove decisive. So leaving them intact was definitely a miscalculation on his part.
  25. Nope, beads came from the bracers.
