  1. How long do we think ol' Nightblood's been on Roshar, anyways? And Zahel, for that matter?
  2. That begs the question of who exactly scoured their homeland. Perhaps for resources? (Oathbringer excerpt spoilers)
  3. Willshaper here. Guess that fits. Excellent quiz, well done.
  4. Could a Siah Aimian become a surgebinder?
  5. Absolutely!!
  6. So, I was just perusing this: http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1110 And on question three, it asks if Szeth was brought back with Rosharan or Nalthian Investiture, and Brandon RAFO'd it, which to me raises the question: Is Szeth a Returned? I know Endowment didn't Return him, but perhaps the "fabrial" Nale used to revive him had something to do with Nalthian Investiture, perhaps making him essentially a Returned. What do y'all think?
  7. @Delightfully Smoak I think you're wonderful and deserve all the happiness the world has to offer You're strong, determined, and brave, and you shouldn't let anyone or anything stop you from living how you want to live. We love you, Del.
  8. This is a note I have written to my English teacher, begging her to take my late work.

    Miss ____,

Zero is not a number. It has no value. It is merely the placeholder for numbers yet to come, or perhaps numbers that haven’t been put in yet.

Throughout history, zero has been significant. In ancient Egypt, around 1740 B.C., the symbol nfr, meaning ‘beautiful’, was used to indicate the baseline of the base ten system the Egyptians. Nfr had no value, it was simply the starting point for the rest of the numbers.

The Ancient Greeks had no symbol for zero. They were unsure about whether or not zero was a number. They asked themselves, "How can nothing be something?", and I ask you a similar question: how can my future career be something, when my missing work grades are nothing? Am I destined, set on a path made mine by the gods, or perhaps teachers, to fail? To end up working full-time in a [local fast food chain], my biggest achievement being “Employee of the Month August 2021” because I was exceptionally good at putting just the right amount of sugar-filled raspberry-flavored tea liquid in styrofoam cups? I desperately hope not.

There are lots of zeros on my current report card, mea culpa.

    Please take my late work.

Yours for the next week, and then hopefully no further,

    Cam ______

      This has been: Traffic.

(I can't be the only one who got a Night Vale vibe.)

      Yas

I haven't listened to much Night Vale, but it does sound a bit like it. I would also love to hear her response to this!

  9. Sovereign's right, it's more of a Spiritual piercing than a Physical. By the way, you might want to spoiler-tag this topic
  10. Yes! I did, she and I are friends. I see her every now and then, we text, and she gave me her extra copy of Warbreaker. Here, lemme pull up a photo:
  11. Balloon has two l's, but I get your point
  12. I appreciate your Ron Swanson gif to no end.
  13. I got Wayne. Heh.
  14. Us too. Not a great time for Tennesseans. My power was out all yesterday afternoon. Had to take a shower in the dark. (If you follow me on Twitter I actually posted a short video of me trying to turn on a battery-powered lamp by hitting it against my hip; it actually worked ) Oh my.
  15. Del, I just burst out laughing in the middle of social studies class. Thank you. Let's just lay down a general ground rule here that there's no hate, ok? All good vibes.
  16. FotS: Last of the Noon (I'm the second child and my parents aren't having any more kids so I am the last) Vorin: Denaned (taken from my middle name) Unkalaki: Lumeiakiakin'kam'anor Shin: Cam-son-James, or Cam-son-son-James (Lots of James's in my family.) Korathi: Aronae (Aon Nae is sight, clarity) Returned: Tunebringer (I'm a musician) Threnody: Perseverance Campbell (Campbell is my first name but I thought it fitting for my name thing)
  17.

If you listen closely, you can probably hear me singing along loudly from the thirteenth row.

  18. Never seen FMA. I guess I misunderstood, transplantation may be a better term for it. Perhaps in future eras Hemalurgy will become more of a medical procedure or a technology than a magic. Hemalurgy is too imprecise to be like gene splicing, I suppose.
  19. I could actually see this happening. The birth thing, not the navel thing. I'm thinking around Era 3. Like, a child is born and along with weighing it and cleaning it and stuff, they pump a metal solution into the child's veins through an IV and get a Nicrosil Misting/Bronze Misting to see if it came through Allomantically, so to speak.
  20. As @MPHRD said, DNA and sDNA are distinct things. You're thinking of gene splicing as a "less messy" alternative to Hemalurgy, but Hemalurgy is gene splicing for sDNA.
  21. Therein lies the difference: I'm American. English is my first language, and I know that it's hard to learn. It was hard for me to learn, when I was younger. English is a ridiculously nuanced and finicky language. For example, the word "see" has 22 different definitions if you look it up on Google.
  22. Ah. Well, that works too
  23. I think it works! Very nice.
