  1. I find the way Stormlight interacts with gemstones extremely interesting. It seems that on Roshar, symmetry is a key factor in both religion and Investiture, in the way a more perfect gemstone holds Stormlight better. I wonder if other crystalline structures could hold Stormlight, like, say, metal...?
  2. I'd like to join somewhere bordering the Tarat Sea.
  3. I have a theory that if you stored an attribute in the metals within your stomach, and then burned duralumin or had a Nicroburst touch you and burn nicrosil, only the Uninvested metals (the ones you didn't store an attribute in) would be used in the duralumin/nicrosil burn, allowing you to essentiall keep duralumin/nicrosil and the metal you are Reverse Compounding on at all times.
  4. I find it interesting that the Spikes Wax and TenSoon found in the mutated humans Paalm sent after them were silvery-red, without the dark red spots found in Paalm's spike. You might have something here.
  5. They're more like small-scale abilities like using the Force to dissolve molecular bonds if they're weak enough, or aligning the crystalline structures of metals to magnetize them or produce an EMP.
  6. I've been thinking about some Force powers that my character could use. He isn't particularly powerful, so his abilities will be more passively-oriented than just throwing people around. I shouldn't spoil them yet, as some of them will be veeery useful.
  7. Ehh, I'm just don't really want Faolin to be the long-lost prince thing that has to return to save the world or something. It's a really overused trope.
  8. Hmm... I was thinking that it was someone watching for anyone looking for that information on Coruscant (which was the same thing Valran was looking for, as I was kinda out of ideas for why Faolin was there ). That would also give a reason for my character to encounter the bounty hunters/Valran at some point.
  9. Any ideas for the greater role for my character to play?
  10. So, I was just thinking about a WoB that says that the end of SA 5 is hidden in the epigraphs, and I had a few thoughts. We also have a WoB that Mistborn Era 2 takes place after SA 5. There is another Shard on Scadrial, and for the purposes of this theory, I'm going to assume that it is Odium. So, what if at the end of SA 5, someone releases Odium from the Greater Roshar system to save their own planet? Odium might offer to spare them if they break the bonds that Honor placed upon him to limit him to the Greater Roshar system Evidence: "So the night will reign, for the choice of Honor is life..." This Death Rattle could mean that someone honorable (basically all of the KR) would choose to save the lives of everyone on Roshar, but it would cause Odium to reign everywhere 5else. "I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it give us further breath to draw" This is another Death Rattle; I think it symbolizes someone metaphorically cutting the bonds restraining Odium in order to delay him destroying Roshar. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this!
  11. The Awakening might draw on the stored Identity or memories and use those as a command, which would make this more plausible. It would be terrifying if Nightblood was actually imprinted with TLR's Identity, Connection and memories. Wait a sec... We have a WoB that Nightblood was made with mixed Investitures.... Crazy theory confirmed!
  12. I don't know, Shallan's father didn't seem that bad right after Shallan's mother was killed. The corruption from the Unmade probably happened later.
  13. My theory is that it holds one of the Unmade. Szeth hid it in Jah Keved, so maybe it influenced Shallan's father and made him the hateful person he was?
  14. Well, Cultivation could have just faked the nobleman and his sister. Yeah, this is getting really overcomplicated.
  15. I have a theory that Shshshsh is Cultivation, or maybe the Nightwatcher (as it's spelled in both books, Shshshsh has the same number of syllables as Cultivation, so yeah). I have a second theory that the spren that make up Shardblades are either of Honor and Cultivation (well, that is confirmed) and the spren that make up Shardplate (a separate theory) are of the other Shard, so you would have Syl making up a Shardblade (an Honorspren, of Honor) and windspren making up Shardplate (naturespren, which are of Cultivation). Anyway, if Shshshsh is Cultivation, she could have actually made a new set of Plate for Adolin, or maybe used her Shard powers to get ahold of an already existing set. Okay, so in one of Dalinar's visions, he says that one of the Radiant's sets of Plate looks like Adolin's, so it's more likely that Cultivation just used Shard powers to "recover" the Plate from whoever owned it.
  16. Well, bakers often add stuff to their bread to change the taste. When you're feeding thousands of troops, you probably just throw in the bare essentials to make bread, which is why the bread tastes bland. The taste doesn't neccesarily have to come from the Soulcasting, just that the military cooks are bad/lazy.
  17. How would natural immunities be better than supernatural abilities?
  18. According to the WoB about the Purelake "Plague", it wouldn't actually be considered a plague anywhere but Roshar. Disease is so rare there that a few people coughing with no cure would be seen as really scary. It was just an outbreak of a normal cold. And remember, Roshar has some diseases too, such as the grindings and fiddlepox. I'm not sure if these are Rosharan names for Earth diseases or something, but disease is a two-edged sword. Scadrians would have no immunity to these diseases, and would likely die from them. Tl;DR: Whenever you mix two isolated populations, disease Ruins everything.
  19. 1/10 is waaay too high an estimate. When Amaram went recruiting in Hearthstone, he got around 10-20 people to join up, and Hearthstone was considered a pretty large town. I think we also have a WoB that Alethkar's population is in the millions, and that Roshar is very lush and fertile. The survival rate for children is also pretty high because of the excess of Investiture everywhere (there's a WoB on that too).
  20. As his ship began the burn to high orbit, Faolin glimpsed a small blip on his ship's radar. It seemed to have come from Coruscant's surface, near the ancient Jedi Temple. The display hologram wavered in a few small areas behind the ship, indicating a distortion of electromatic radiation in that area. That could only mean one thing; someone was using a cloaking device. The ship's computer began tracking the distortions as soon as he thought about them. Faolin had modified his wrist communicator so that it fit behind his left ear; from there, he could send mental commands to it, and by extension, the ship. Its hologram projector had also been heavily modified so that the display was projected directly in front of his eyes. This made it much easier to look at, and he could use it for augmented reality as well as just a screen. There were 6 distortions following the mysterious ship. One seemed significantly larger than the other; it was be 3 or 4 times the size of his own ship. He set the nav computer to intercept the fleeing ship, as he wanted some answers. Could whoever was flying that ship have something to do with the purpose of his brief visit to Coruscant? It was a long shot, but someone gathering information in the Jedi Temple might have been looking for the same thing that he was. The Jedi Temple had been looted uncounted times, which was why Faolin had skipped visiting there. The underground bunker he had landed at had seemed a better prospect for the information he seeked. Well, it wouldn't hurt to check the leaving ship out. When a planet had a possibility of being vaporized, you couldn't take any chances.
  21. But then the BAM compounds Steel and runs away at Mach 3. One advantage of being made of metal is that you can Steelrun faster than a human without damaging yourself. The BAM could also be covered in a really thin layer of unreactive materials. Also, since it has all 10 Honorblades, it could just do a Reverse Lashing on the ground or something.
  22. Where did she say this? I have both SA books practically memorized, and I don't remember Syl ever saying that she went hunting for spren.
  23. The entire BAM is made of aluminum, and we don't even know that aluminum blocks the inhalation of Stormlight.
  24. Why would it be useless?
  25. The gemheart is encased in aluminum, so I doubt that the Larkin would be able to get to it.
