  1. Ahh yes, that makes more since. I remember now, he basically treated Elhokar like a child (and frankly he acts like one at times). Makes sense, according to the post above, he's still in charge but Dalinar is more like the one who bosses Elhokar around. As for the city, I think he refers to Urithiru.
  2. Spoilers if you haven't actually read WoR. I read this on a Tor article found at http://www.tor.com/2016/02/22/what-to-expect-so-far-from-brandon-sandersons-third-stormlight-archive-book/ The passage: Newly bonded to a splinter of the Almighty/Honor, Dalinar is going to have his hands full reigning in the Stormfather, and figuring out his new duties as a Bondsmith. Not only will he have to bring the Radiants together, he’ll need to keep his people in the city from falling apart, especially after he usurped control of them from his nephew Elhokar. Uhhh, since we did he usurp control from Elhokar? Am I forgetting something? It has been a bit since I've read the book.
  3. I actually just read it last night for the first time. I'll be glad to discuss if more people come in, and if I remember to look back at this!
  4. Awesome! I appreciate the answer.
  5. I plan on reading Elantris in the future, but The Emporer's Soul is the perfect length right now what with school and all. I realize it takes place in the same world but not quite the same region or anything. So, I do intend on reading Elantris later, but will reading The Emporer's Soul first be fine in the mean time?
  6. Didn't know he's mentioned that we have. Who else could it be but Iyatil?
  7. That's it. Cosmere = Star Wars universe!
  8. Man, I'm jealous that everyone else gets cool covers. This is really nice, and though I like the way Steris and Wax look on the new cover, I wish it was a bit more cartoony like this.
  9. Mountain Dew was the first thing that came to mind for me!
  10. Yeah, well there's no doubt in my mind she's one of the Southerners, or at least that is her heritage.
  11. Man, if you can find a direct quote to that, then I'd be 99% sure she's got a connection to Scadrial.
  12. Yeah, I can't remember if Iyatil ever took her mask off or if it was ever mentioned that it may have been attached to her face, but if I remember correctly she always had it on. To me it certainly seems to indicate that she is part of some clan there.
  13. I'd like to build on top of my previous thread about a broadsheet purports to have an account on a worldhopper who wears this mask, and is described to have "piercing eyes and a face like some otherworldly beast." I've never really made a theory before, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Southerner from Bands of Mourning. Furthermore, the account may have been exaggerated as we often see in newspapers and the like. Now, it appeared in a pool, so it's possibly a worldhopper. We know that Iyatil from the Stormlight Archive is a worldhopper, and she wears a mask. It's described as red-orange carapace mask. This is a flimsy theory, but what if Iyatil isn't from Roshar? What if Iyatil is one of the Southerners, from Scadrial itself? What do you all think?
  14. I'm not sure if this was addressed or not, as I've just finished Bands of Mourning since I've found time to do so. The broadsheet in Shadows of Self refer to this monster-like creature with a demonic face. The description is really similar to me as one of the masks from the Southerners, and this entity was spotted in New Seran. Is it one of the Southerners, or could it still be a worldhopper since it was in a pool?
  15. I'll take a look, thank you!
  16. I've never read any of the novellas, and I'm not even sure how to get them. I'm not a fan of e-books though... I prefer them physical.
  17. I'm not as well versed as many people when it comes to the Cosmere. I have a more basic understand that makes it enjoyable, but not to the scope as you all probably. That said, I know that there will be a sci-fi Mistborn series. Well, there would be space travel too, right? I know this would be ridiculous and I'm 99.9% sure this won't happen (or I could be wrong), but what is to stop them from traveling to the other Cosmere planets like Roshar? Has Brandon said anything about this?
  18. Not sure what the consensus is on which is more preferred. Both are just amazing books, but I myself prefer Words of Radiance. I was wondering what everyone else though was their favorite so far.
  19. It's really strange for Paalm to say it when she is a kandra, I mean she serves Harmony, she should just say Harmony right?
  20. Yeah, I thought she idolized Wayne too, his legendary deputy. You'd think she'd give a bit more respect.
  21. And once again, let us not forget that MeLaan has seemed to take a liking to Wayne!
  22. Yeah, both strike me as fun-loving and energetic. That can at least be said about Wayne. There seems to be some chemistry between MeLaan and Wayne interestingly enough, so I could see them worldhopping around together.
  23. Wayne. Wayne has got to be one of my top characters in the Cosmere. Dalinar and Wayne are up there for me. I know this is kind of a silly discussion and may not add a lot, but I think that there's lots of potential. It would be hilarious to have some sort of subtle cameo in Roshar where he's disguised as someone else or someone gets really confused by a speed bubble. Maybe Wayne would go around collecting accents and clothing. Seems like the thing he'd do if he could worldhop. What do you all think?
  24. A thug. I love having increased strength, speed, detoxification, and all the other perks. It just seems the most useful, but that could be said about most of them.
  25. Sounds very plausible, and quite evident through her character development. It'll be cool to see how she ends up for sure.
