AG4/AN1 - Day 7: Feathered Illusions Squawk was haunted by the previous days. Weasel had been innocent. Squawk had stood by as they voted to lynch him the second time, after he escaped the first time. Granted, he didn't put up any resistance, but acknowledging that didn't make her feel any better. After all, weasel was one of the ones that retracted his vote, and had probably saved her life a few days back. She almost wished it was her. The guilt of surviving at the cost of someone else overcame her, and she wept. She awoke some time later. She must have cried herself to sleep, but she heard the horses and chulls making noise as someone shut the stables. The people often let her sleep in here with the livestock during highstorms, and she felt slightly better here than being alone lately. Were they going to kick her out because of all the suspicion that had been infecting the town? She got on the back of a chull so she could see who it was and beg them to let her stay here even though the town was in disarray. Upon a glance, though, she knew something was wrong. The figure was wearing a hood so they couldn't be discerned, and in one hand they held a wickedly curved dagger. The figure noticed her and began to approach. "Wait, please, you don't need to do this," Squawk chirped. The figure didn’t react to her statement at all. Well, fine. Squawk was going to leave a mark on them at least. She pounced, attacking with wings and beak. This got a reaction out of the figure: they seemed confused, but slowly that wore off. Man, Squawk’s head hurt from that attack. "I see. So that's how things are," the figure said, purposely distorting their voice. They leapt forward and grabbed Squawk’s wing with one hand and stabbed her chest with the other. Squawk tried to peck his hooded eyes out, but got herself pinned on the ground. In the process, the figure left the knife in her chest and secured her other arm down. As she tried to peck his face once more, she noticed that her beak was passing through him! Her knife wound wasn't hurting too badly either. It had a cold sensation around it, and it almost felt like it was healing around the dagger. That's when she remembered. Remembered that she had a nose and mouth not a beak, remembered she had long black hair instead of feathers, and remembered that she was of the order of the Lightweavers sent to this town to spy on rumored followers of Odium. But she had somehow become absorbed into the role of Squawk, after a villager almost shot her with his bow and she had had to speak to prevent her from blowing her cover. Talking chicken, old magic, spren bonds, the explanation had seemed ludicrous... but then Squawk had believed it too hadn’t she. Except her name wasn't... Squawk... her name was....... The stormlight ran out. The figure had been moving the knife back and forth. Squawk’s chest was flaring with pain, her uniform dyed red with blood. She felt her thoughts become muddy, and the lack of stormlight exhausting. She did wonder, though, would anyone mourn her death, since the town wouldn’t know who she was? Such were her thoughts as the blood slowed and then stopped bubbling from her chest. A small pond of blood formed around her. Credit goes to Onyx Flamingo for their death writeup. AG4/AN1 - Night 6: Death of No-one Someone is apparently dying today. I say apparently, because the claims of there being someone are currently being judged uncertain. Who’s judging? Sorry to say, but that’s also being judged uncertain by someone higher up than who should be judging. Bureaucracy can get confusing like that, which is why I am personally voting diplomatically for an un-diplomatic system. Taking the system down from the inside, you know? Anyway, I’ve only been contracted for like not much, other services cost like way more proportionally, cause I don’t really like doing them. Not the writing itself, but the whole like characters being characters and stuff. What I can say about Weasel is that they ain’t gonna be weaseling their way out of this lynch, or just like life in general ironically. So Weasel dies, and I’m telling you this way too late. Like unbelievably late. Three paragraphs into the write-up and it’s only made clear then? For shame, myself. AG4/AN1 - Night 5: There’s No Place Like Home Indigo Weasel felt sharp spears poking into his back, forcing him up the staircase to the gallows. He didn’t give their cries the dignity of a response. In silence, he walked up the stairs, and stood where he was forced to stand. Only when the floor beneath him gave out did he panic. I can’t die, I won’t die like this! In a split second, he was elsewhere. Drowning in… beads? He tried not to choke, sinking slowly. The beads started overwhelming him, and he grew tired. He’d always imagined dying in his old age, surrounded by grandchildren, comfortable in his own bed. Not this. An instant later, he was home in that very same bed. Deprived of air, with a sore neck, but home and free. He blinked, and then started laughing for joy. Indigo Weasel was lynched. He is an Elsecaller. AG4/AN1 - Day 5: Poisoning the Well Peng Uinneas slept uneasily in the inn, still comfortably wrapped in his chartreuse Shardplate. It wasn’t as if anyone in the town had the knowledge to remove it properly, after all, and he was safe with it on. Even if it was a little uncomfortable to sleep in. There was a creaking from downstairs, waking Peng completely. Elysian, come back to his old home? Peng thought. Perhaps. But if not… He got up, carefully, trying not to make any noise. Unfortunately, Shardplate wasn’t designed for silence, and his feet thudded on the floor no matter how carefully he placed them. He abandoned silence and rushed downstairs, bursting into the main common room, only to feel a thud. He looked down in time to see the arrow falling to the ground, and the cracks in his Shardplate. He yelled, more instinctively than to call for help, and charged forward. But a second arrow, and then a third, took him in the chest, and he fell to the ground still steps away from his attacker. The air was perfectly still, as the watching eyes of the archer saw the room change from containing two people to only one. Peng was missing the next morning, but it was clear where he had gone. Tracks of two heels dragging in the dirt, along with occasional bloodspots, could be followed from the inn all the way up to the well. This, unfortunately, meant that the well water was no longer safe to drink, and they only had limited stores left... Chartreuse Penguin has died! They were a Villager. Day Five has begun. AG4/AN1 - Night 4: United in Fear The pounding on the door was getting louder, as were the angry shouts outside. Durthu grunted as someone rammed their body against the frame, making the wall shudder. He glanced over his shoulder at the boy watching. His anxious eyes had seen this whole thing before. "Elysian," Durthu called. "You have to leave!" Elysian shook his head. "Not again!" he cried. Durthu sighed, and heard the smash of glass outside. "Elysian, you have to leave! There's nothing you can do, so it's best to leave while you can. Go out the back way. Hopefully... hopefully no one will see you there. Go!" Elysian stared at him, then swallowed hard and dashed for the back door. Durthu closed his eyes. He had never been very religious, but he prayed to the Almighty that the boy would be safe. He doubted anyone would take the child in now, after both of his guardians had been mobbed. They’d think he was cursed, or some other crem. The shouts were getting louder, and the door cracked as someone began to take a hammer to it. He shook his head and stood back. There was nothing else he could do now. When the door burst through, they saw Durthu standing there, arms folded. “I bring unity,” Durthu said. “That is what I’m supposed to do. Why can’t you see that? Why do you accuse me of all people of dividing you?” The crowd didn’t care. “You are bringing unity, you murderer,” yelled one. “Unity in us wanting your death!” “All I want is peace,” Durthu pleaded, but the crowd had no ears for him. They only had fists. Durthu was left bruised and bloody on the ground, the slowly spilling blood mixing with chalkdust in the street. As sunset fell, the fear that had unified the villagers split them apart to barricade them into their houses, and the night began. Credit to Salmon Meerkat for contributing to the writeup. AG4/AN1 - Day 4: Scheduled Death Hello again, it’s me. The random voice from the sky? Yes, that one. Anyway, got an awful amount of things to report to you. Isn’t that such a pain? I’ve asked too many questions in the past two sentences. And now I’ve said two and too a lot and you know when you say a word a fair bit and it just starts to sound a bit funny and maybe a bit too funny oh we’ve done it again. Okay, back to the deaths. I’m starting to sound a bit like an over-enthusiastic gran, you know what I mean? Always ready to report about Janice over in the next 2 villages slipping on some butter she left out the fridge or something. First on the report concerns the death of a certain Taupe Gecko, who was caught doing very innocent things in very innocent places. There have been questions about if the innocent things were in fact innocent, but no-one has tried to claim that painting pretty pictures is the very definition of evil. But what about the place? Well that was at Narg’s broken down shed, so no-one can really complain about that either. Anyway, I won’t go into much detail as there’s a fair bit more to cover. Secondly, we have reports about reports about reports that Oxblood Beagle has been reportedly found somewhat not alive. Due to the nature of way too many reports, I actually can’t tell you anything. It’s a real shame too, cause they’ve been talking so much that I kinda feel like I’m letting them down. But at the same time I kinda don’t wanna talk to maybe try and be a bit ironic about the situation. It’s a real problem, one that doesn’t really come up much in my line of work, that work being to ramble in an empty document and hope that a few people like it enough to send me some yellow stuff on a website. But yeah, do I talk or not? Well even if I don’t, I should at least tell you that all of our many reports do say that there was an awful lot of flames and stuff around Beagle, and I don’t think they were that much of a pyromaniac. Finally, and yes getting to a third report is truly an honour to remember, Turquoise Gorilla is dead. And sorry to whoever this person is, because I am also getting a bit tired of rambling, so we’ll skip straight to the juicy bits. They were also seemingly a pyromaniac, seeing as there were also a fair few signs of flames around the body. Otherwise, guess there isn’t much to say. Watch out for that Narg fellow, you know? Jai lay in the alleyway, thoughtful, as he looked up at the stars and the moon, Nomon. He wondered what lay among those stars. Were there other people? Other creatures? Who knew what could be hiding in that night sky. He heard a noise from the mouth of the alleyway, and went rigid. They were walking towards him. Jai panicked. Was it the Boys? He took a glance, and saw a knife. Jai threw off the blanket, and ran for the other side of the alley. But there was another person waiting for him there too. In a complete panic, he saw a spren, like a glowing ball, drift down. He gasped, and his spheres- still in his pants- went dun. His skin became alight. And then, POP. A flash of light, and Jai was in a different alley, by the bakery. He gaped. What had he just done? Had that been... a surge?! Jai whooped in relief of having gotten away, and walked out of the alleyway, right into another knife. Sadly, Jai had used all his infused spheres in transporting, and his body was left in front of the alley. All credit goes to Oxblood Beagle for his death scene. Taupe Gecko has died! AG4/AN1 - Night 3: The Study of Art Cream Tuatara didn’t even know what a Tuatara was. Just that they were it. Did they need to know more specifics? Not at all, because they were the Tuatara so the description of Tuatara was them. Makes sense, ya know? Or should hopefully do, because otherwise no-one really would know what a Tuatara was. But to get to the point of why you’re reading this, The Cream Tuatara is dead. To know why it happened, it would be best to ask one of the people that y’know, actually did the deed itself. If you ask me further about who exactly did it, then I’d tell ya to stop pestering me and look at the helpful tally below. Somedays I think that you people don’t even read the write-up itself. Below is an artistic rendition of how it happened: C.T was strutting their stuff downtown when someone hollered at them, saying “Yo C.T what you doin?” “I’m just strutting you know? Always gotta strut when you’re in the mood.” “Yeah well me and the homies decided that we ain’t about that strut life. We’re more about doing the shuffle.” “Ah that’s fair enough. Enjoy doing the shuffle then I guess, I ain’t one to judge.” “Well just in case you change your mind, we’re gonna have to eliminate you, so sorry I guess.” And before C.T could strut their way away, they were gone. If you don’t think that’s artistic enough, then I am sorry to inform you that I am not doing anything that creative in the future, so the feedback will not affect me that much. If I was though, I would almost certainly get annoyed at that and maybe do something to you in return. So really it’s in your best interest to compliment me on my write-ups no matter the content inside them, though that might make me annoyed at that and then do something to you in return. Guess you gotta take a chance, or don’t do anything at all. I’d probably do nothing at all in this case. You are correct on both counts. In writeups, Dustbringer kills will include a reference to fire of some nature.

AG4/AN1 - Day 3: Throw Away The Rest Narg stood in front of his shed, facing no-one. “No left, no left!” he whispered, only making the groans of the wood louder. “You leave. Now. Then I talk.” The melancholy surrounding Narg left, but Narg did not feel anything. “You are sane,” Narg began. “I am keeping myself alive. Despite the pains, and yet I keep myself in place because you are a helper. I know. I do not even have a reason!” “Joy for me only. Joy for just me and no-one else. This is justice. You do not know that yet, but I do. You make stalwart, strong despairs that you’ll never friend the saviour or saviours by helping my way into myself, one by one. You wish me luck.” The shed continued. “You persist.” “You will keep talking!” Narg shouted, and could not be silenced. “I shush, with no effects. Life will continue tonight.” The shed fell apart. “The sun rises. You have no purpose, now. I will grow new life, despite your attempts. AG4/AN1 - Day 2: Fires in the Night Lady Emalia sat in her room late at night, staring out the tiny window at the bonfire burning down below. With such a small village, that fire would never be allowed to go out except during highstorms, and would be the main source of fire for the entire village. She looked at the tiny spark, lost in thought. She hadn’t meant to come here. Hadn’t meant to find another place of death and destruction, and yet... She hated it. Why did it have to happen, this cycle of death? Was there no other way? What twisted part of the universe made it right for friend to kill friend? She didn’t know. Her hands shook, again. She’d survived so far. She’d been lucky enough to come out of this alive, so far. But she could feel that her luck wouldn’t hold forever. Emalia turned to retrieve pen and paper from her satchel, to write out her experiences in the case that she died this time. She had a brief glimpse of a dark figure in the room, too dark to make out with her eyes blinded from staring into the fire. Lady Emalia pressed her lips together, closed her eyes, and sat tall. “Fate makes a mockery of us all,” she murmured. A flash of pain; darkness. Elyle woke. He judged it to be a few hours before dawn, and couldn’t tell at first what had wakened him. He sat up, and smelled it. AG4/AN1 - Night 1: Dingo Bingo Sherrah stood before the fire, smiling at the children and the parents who had come with them. Dangerous times, she supposed, meant they couldn’t run about on their own as usual. “Two deaths, today, and so a deadly story to accompany them,” she said solemnly. “Once upon a time,” she began, “a very, very long time ago, there was a tiny village, much like our very own, and it was terrified.” The flames darkened, showing images of screaming villagers and a man hanging from a gallows-tree. “Each night, one of their number died, and each day, they chose another of their number to blame. But the deaths continued.” Blood and death and darkness, consuming the fire completely. “Sometimes they were right, and had found a murderer. But there were many murderers, and the innocents dwindled by the day.” Then, stillness. An empty, deserted town, with a few survivors staring dully around them. “In that particular village, they managed. They survived, or a few of them did, and the murderers died. But at the cost of so many lives…” The vision shifted to see the blood spattering the ground. “I do not ask that you stop this course,” Sherrah said, “for I know no other ways to stop this cycle of murder. But please, please, take care. This has happened before, and it does not always turn out so well.” The picture faded. “I pray to Honor Almighty that there be a village standing when this ends.” Melon Dingo was lynched.
