Here it is. lol took me a while... I've been reading Alloy of Law. EDIT: Obviously, numerical order. The location of the number in relation to its line determines the direction you travel over the line... So if the number is on the right, the line "moves" left.

lol I just recalled a dream that I had a few months back that involved me on a camping trip with some of my guy friends... we had to drive up to some sort of trailhead, at the top of this freakily steep red stone mountain-cliff-face kind of thing. I was the only one freaking out when we were almost vertical, and then of course we actually had to climb up and around some sort of bulge, so we were like this ---> / with the occupants of the car on the right side. Of course, we fell. I think the dream ended when I passed out. lol a bit emasculating.

I drew a quick picture on Paint, but not sure how to load it up? Do I have to put it on a website or something?

Please, tell us about your lame dreams.

Should coin jumping or shooting have any effect on your money? I know that clips were nearly worthless in the book, but I also don't want to just have an unlimited supply. Maybe clips and cash are just permanently separate categories that you have to manage. Some sort of looting system, perhaps. Or maybe you can hire yourself out to nobles as an assassin. Are we tied to any specific faction, or should we just be free as our whims? And BF3 = Battlefield 3. Another generic military FPS, but pretty much the only new-ish thing I liked was the suppressing fire. Could you explain your fatigue thing a little more in-depth? Are sensory fatigue and physical weariness tied together, somehow?

I don't see colors, but I have quite often known myself to organize memorized lists or songs into a physical arrangement in my brain. Just as an example, when I was little I remember being terrified of having nightmares. So every night, I'd pray not to have nightmares. Somehow, this wasn't enough; I ended up listing off every single potential source of nightmare that I could come up with, be it a movie, a TV show, a book, a particularly frightening imagination, a dream that I may have had before, etc. All specifics, too. As in: "Or that bad dream I had last night, or Jurassic Park, or..." The result was a dizzying array of columns, dashes, slanting offshoots, and strangely reasoned categories that played through my head every time I ran through it. It got a bit exhausting, really, because the cursed thing was so long. Eventually, I had the entire thing so well visualized that I drew out the shape for my friend. He thought I was insane. Clearly, my spiritual side was not as in tune as my practical side. I also have the grand gift of useless memorization. This is somewhat related to the above, but I can literally pull single phrases, word for word, out of movies that I may have last watched years before. Actually, it's quite useful sometimes, because I can trigger memories in other people and we can share a laugh. It's a great substitute for coming up with an actual funny joke, which I'm terrible at. One more: Sequence Un-Recollection. I would be prepared to swear before a court of law that a certain scene in the movie theater played out differently than it does in the home version. Not big things - small things, like, for example, the particular motions or camera angles associated with Optimus Prime slicing off that Decepticon's head in Transformers. For the longest time, I attributed it to that warning at the beginning of the movie - you know, the "This Film Has Been Modified From It's Original Version". These days, I figure I'm probably just delusional. lol

Maybe it was on TWG. I was actually thinking that tin should not be a passive metal. Sure, you can toggle it on and off, maybe, but having it always on should have negative effects as well. Just like the book - "Consequences, Vin." I feel like tin should be used purely for scouting or stealthy operations, and if something overloads your senses with it on, your screen shakes, blurs, sounds get tinny or something else equally punishing. Think the new suppressing fire mechanic in BF3. Someone doesn't necessarily have to hit you for your vision to be affected. Pewter, I think could be toggled too, but it would run out lots faster than tin. Ooh, I just had a mini-economic concept where you can pause at any time to replenish metals, but you've got to ration vials because you have to purchase them from vendors.

It's happened. I had a dream that I was mistborn. It was actually a little underwhelming. I was in some sort of courtyard, and I could feel a bunch of power sources in my stomach, but the only blasted thing I could get to work was iron. And even that was kind of wimpy; I only succeeded in levitating myself about five feet off the ground, toward a light mounting or something, and then I couldn't pull myself up anymore, like I was out of strength or something. Even though that violates the laws of allomancy in the books. At some point the dream morphed into me driving around in a car with my family, and we were stopping at random stores like Walmart, and I was really stressed because I needed to get some metals. But my family wasn't allowed to know about my powers for some reason, and none of the freaking stores had allomantic alloys. At the time, it was really freaking obnoxious, with me being an all-powerful mistborn who couldn't be awesome because he couldn't find powdered metals at Walmart. In hindsight, though, it actually seems pretty funny. I wonder if there's some sort of mystic interpretation behind this, like I'm not using my full potential for greatness or something. Anyway, has anyone else ever had a dream related to Brandon's stuff? Or just a funny dream in general? I do love hearing about them.

I like the idea of the quick-select sort of thing. Maybe a Zelda-esque setup, where you set the active metals to a button or trigger of your choice? Then you could just choose whether to have copper, zinc, or tin on.

So, as we've all probably heard, Brandon has said that a "promising movement" toward a Mistborn video game has been made. You can find a post on this somewhere in the Brandon News and Discussion forum - I'm too lazy to go back to it now. I thought this was exciting, but as a general rule, I'm extremely cautious about this sort of thing. I don't want to see a hack n' slash or linear platformer made out of Mistborn; obviously, I want the best spanking thing the industry can crank out. The only book-to-video-game transition that I remember liking a lot was Sierra Entertainment's The Hobbit for PC... but it was rather simplistic in terms of design, simply because little Bilbo does not have the faintest clue about what Allomancy is, or even a whole lot about fighting. The game mostly focused on platforming and puzzle-solving interspersed with some decent combat, but the storytelling was phenomenal, and the atmosphere was also spectacular, especially in the Shire, Mirkwood, and the Misty Mountains. But, on to my point. The Hobbit struck a pretty nice balance, but Mistborn in video game form would obviously have to be more complicated. How would allomancy transfer to a conventional control system, if such a thing is even possible? Would an FPC (First Person Coiner) be the ideal format? Linear level structure, or free-roaming (I think we can all agree this would be more awesomer, but also difficult to pull off)? How does Tin-burning affect your gaming experience? What about emotional allomancy? Assuming you're not burning copper, how would it affect your game? Would it be implemented at all? Obviously, this a monumental thing to consider if the game is to be worth anything at all. One of the biggest issues I could forsee right away is the dynamics of Pushing. How can you push on a large number of objects without selecting them, one at a time? In some ways, a good game seems almost impossible. If that's the case, then, what about Stormlight? I think Windrunning would be easier to implement, but would Shardwielding be boring, since nothing challenges you at all? These are the burning questions. I'm interested in what people think. EDIT: "burning" questions... haha punz

I'm pretty sure I actually walk around in a circle with the book in my face as I read those bits. I just feel like I can't contain all that pent-up emotion. It's a strange cross between fear(that something you don't want to happen will happen), excitement(that something you do want to happen will happen), frustration (that you don't know what the heck is going to happen), and amazement that someone could somehow compress all this godliness into as earthly a medium as a book. Oh yeah, and mad chills because of how boss his magic users are. And fury at certain characters.

I discovered him through my sister, who had me read the first mistborn book. This was right around the release of HoA. It's still my favorite book of all time. I read the whole trilogy within weeks, but for some reason I couldn't really get into Elantris. I had to give it back to the library before I got three chapters in. There was a temporary hiatus until The Way of Kings was released; I read the cover blurb and was immediately sold. A freaking world of arthropods? Count me in. I finished that book within two days, and it is now my second favorite of Brandon's books. After that I purchased Elantris for a second try, and for whatever reason got hooked this time. Not my favorite of his works, but still a worthy addition to my BSanderson collection. In fact, it wasn't until after I got Warbreaker and thought I was caught up that I discovered WoT. I actually am the reverse of most people: I found WoT through Brandon, rather than the other way around. I'm currently on the third book, mostly because I want to get to Brandon's books at the end. It's a good motivator, because I'm told the middle books tend to drag. I'll quit WoT for a bit when AoL comes out. Then I'll try to finish the series before rithmatist or the next stormlight book. Then I'll be really caught up! On a humorous note, I actually avoided the forums at Twg and here because I didn't like the idea of the cosmere. I decided just to ignore that annoying concept and live in my own perfect dreamworld. That didn't last long. Now I've embraced the truth. Lol

Definitely. Count me in. Please.

They'd certainly reproduce fast enough to burst the chest. Surprisingly violent for such a "harmless" ball of fluff...

Theory on Shardplate/Shardblades (Possible Spoilers)
IvoryRoad replied to b4dave's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree with the infused-gems-are-the-fuel theory, and that the glowing effect with the Plate was unrelated. Hmm. Assuming that, at the very least, the Plate is (or was) of Honor, what caused them to stop glowing? Perhaps it was his death, but I don't think Honor had been killed quite yet. I think it might have more in common with Scadrial's pact - as in, Preservation is allowed to create humanity with the promise that Ruin will later be able to destroy them. Of course, Preservation did end up double-crossing Ruin anyway, but that's beside the point. Perhaps Honor agreed to withdraw his own essence from the Plate (and perhaps the Blades, maybe even "converting" them to be of Odium, thus the Thrill), and sacrifice himself, in exchange for the end of the Desolations. It would tie right in with his Intent also; possibly the highest honor one can give you is to die for your sake. Dalinar would also be some nice foreshadowing; giving up his Blade for the lives of his people. (That's called a stretch, ladies and gentlemen.) Obviously just conjecture, but in terms of an inter-deity pact, that's the best I've got. -
How about fuzzy warm feelings inside? Do you have those?

My first name is Devin, so it has a certain appeal. I don't think this was part of the Cosmere. It feels too simplistic. And I can definitely tell how much better Brandon's gotten since writing it.

Theory on Shardplate/Shardblades (Possible Spoilers)
IvoryRoad replied to b4dave's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ooh, true that. I wonder how much time actually separated the fall of the Heralds and the Recreance (that's what they called it, right?). -
Sweet. I like this place already.

Theory on Shardplate/Shardblades (Possible Spoilers)
IvoryRoad replied to b4dave's topic in Stormlight Archive
The possibility that shards are of Odium might also somehow tie into the Thrill, which does not seem limited to Dalinar alone. He describes it at some point with his son, who is coincidentally another shardbearer. But the glowing thing would lead me to believe that they were probably originally of Honor. If anything, they may have been "converted" to Odium when the Radiants gave them up - which is perceived as a dishonorable act. It appears motiveless and, from the original Heralds in the prologue, possibly just selfishness. I can't wait to find out why the Radiants actually abandoned them. Defiance, frustration, fear? -
Not to mention that all animal life has been evolving for thousands or even millions of years to better cope with an occurence that's become completely normal for the world of Roshar. Highstorms are not a "recent" development by any stretch of imagination. This is probably just me being naive, but I always had the impression that highstorms were just an interesting planetary "feature" that sets Roshar apart from the multitudes of other fantasy continents out there. As in, the ashfalls from Mistborn. They were there for a reason, but it was not necessarily a central aspect of the plot. That said, I completely expect to see some sort of voyage toward the origin in future books. A windrunner could probably do it; just lash toward the origin and fall toward it at terminal velocity. Would shorten the journey somewhat, I expect.

I was told to make an "introduce yourself" post at coinpoint. (Mistborn geeks forever ) So. I'm IvoryRoad, based on my tendency to try playing piano on ocassion and also my obsession with cool-sounding double-pronoun names. I like Brandon Sanderson for stuff like that. Stormlight, Voidbringer, etc. I like those a lot. Is that geeky? So yeah. I'm here and I exist. I expect my cookie within the hour.
