  1. ^Not sure if serious or poking at my randomness plan^ But whatever. And ha! My math was wrong! I win! Of course, that's still ignoring actions, roles, Alien probes, suspicions, and it being considerably less random than I said. So I honestly believe that the chance of using an action on somebody and dying for it is incredibly low.
  2. Another thing with Rand's plan for the scanning vote would be if we have multiple UIB agents. (Thanks BR!) How would they know which person to target? Or would we just get 3 scans on the same person? (Note: 3 is not an exact number, just a guess for demonstrative purposes.) And if the Aliens did figure out who a scanner was, they just wait for the vote to land on an innocent and then kill the scanner. Suspicion is thrown onto the scan target who must have defended themselves, and we lynch an innocent. I am of the opinion currently that any actions (Ignoring Firebrand. Please save it for when you have suspicions.) should be used semi-randomly. If you don't know who you're targeting until that cycle as opposed to going through methodically, it'll be harder for people to catch on. It also means that since cytonics can only defend against one player, it would be incredibly hard for the person you're targeting to actually defend against you specifically with them. There's 17 players currently, so if it is random, (you have no bias, they have no suspicions) there's a 1 in 289 chance (If my math is correct.) for the players to match up. And that's ignoring the chance that they didn't use cytonics that round. So yes, I do promote people using their actions, and without a particular plan. Also officially tossing my vote on Yitzi. You seem to be committed to your plan, and I can't really see how it would end up helping the village more than hurting it. Maybe you have good intentions, but I ain't willing to risk it. Edit: Also wanted to mention I'm still suspicious of PK, but less, and newly suspicious of Arinian. He gives no reasons for his suspicions, backs up someone else who I am suspicious of, and seems like he is planning to vote on Ecth because it's "Tradition." That doesn't help anyone, unless Ecth is an Alien by sheer chance. He has done nothing so far to actually give us information on whether he's evil or not.
  3. We have no way to coordinate fake requests though, so the Aliens would probably go with the first person to ask for permission. Meaning the first person to ask would probably get probed. Even if they were a fake, they wouldn't want to do something that would kill their own character like that. It's not a bad idea, but is very difficult with this system, and doesn't have enough failsafes. And how does it give the village "maximum information" if they die? It tells them that somebody who could see the thread killed them. Unless at least 4-5 people requested, and only a specific person with an actual role died. And even then I'm not sure how, since you probably wouldn't ask the person "Can I protect you? Or add an extra vote on you?" So they still wouldn't know if it was fake or real. It has some possibility, but I just don't think it would work for this game. As far as suspicions go, I'm currently leaning towards either PK or Yitzi. Both of them proposed plans that seemed plausible, but also seemed like they might hurt the village. Which could be a mistake, oooor they could be Alien spies here to probe us. For information. And other things. Maybe. So just throwing those out there. I don't really believe in poke votes after I've been lynched for them before, but I will say those are my suspicions and if things stand as they are, I will probably vote on you before the day ends.
  4. But we do still have the Scanner People. (Still can't remember what they're called.) Aren't they useful? If we're going off of only what's in the thread, some of those guys are seriously good actors. (I would know, I've been one before. (Self-important ego-raising.)) I'd rather not go willy-nilly. And your cytonics can still only target one person to defend against, (Right? I'm right on that, aren't I?) you might defend against someone and just be Alien-probed (Calling it that from now on. You can't stop me.) from someone they didn't suspect because it's the first cycle. At least in the beginning before we know more, aren't roles more important than the cytonics?
  5. So if there's no PMs, then virtually all the discussion will have to be in the main thread. ("Obviously," I said, knocking my head against the nearest hard surface after re-reading that.) So if we have suspicions, we should probably only voice them in reference to the lynch and if you're actually suspicious or have evidence. If you have suspicions retaining to a role and say it, then the Aliens have more information. And if you don't have actual suspicion or evidence, and you're right, they won't get lynched and they will have suspicion against you. That's probably wrong, but it's my thought on the matter and trying to add to the discussion. Another matter, a tactic that the Aliens could use for their kill is either having one person do it until they die so we get less information but can narrow it down faster, or rotate it among them, which gives is more information and targets over a longer time period. Again, just my thoughts on the matter. P.S. BR. That's awesome! I'd ask you to give your sister a "Congratulations!" from the people on the Shard, but that might be a little creepy... Maybe babies make everything less creepy though?
  6. Devon gaped upwards at the speaker system, his mouth beginning to curve upwards into a smile. He was really here in the thick of things! This was his chance to see a real alien! Maybe even kill one! This was his chance to be a hero. Then it set in what was happening. Aliens were on board. They wanted to kill everyone there and launch missiles to kill more people. They wanted to kill him. Suddenly it didn't seem so exciting anymore. So since the only protection roles are using cytonics, do we want to use the first cycle to use whatever roles we may or may not have and relax on the cytonics, or just fire them up and hope we pick the right person? Did we ever get an answer on what is allowed with PMs?
  7. The comma makes it an and? I thought it just made it more specific. I have tried it with just the .left and it still didn't do anything. I do actually have elements with the .input class, the <p> holding the input. Cause I don't want just the little button, but the entire line to be highlighted. I did want multiple levels higher, and didn't know that the .parents identifier existed. And yeah, just switched that to .parents and it worked. I knew it was something obvious! I think I've found jfiddle before, but didn't know that it worked with jQuery as well, so I'll use it more. Thanks for the assistance!
  8. So I've been taking a coding course recently and when I get code that I don't understand what's wrong with it, I naturally turned to the awesome people on the 17S Discord server. From there I was advised to start a thread on here. So after looking around, I didn't see a thread that was related to helping out with programming help. So I figured I would start this, and if people either need help or are willing to give it, they could (hopefully) come here. So that's pretty general, but hopefully it works out. Recently I've been trying to figure out jQuery, and to test it I have a bunch of checkboxes and radiobuttons. I'm trying to get it so that one is selected, the background turns a different color. I have the html and the css all set up, so I think it's a problem with the code. $('.left, .computers input').click(function(){$(this).parent('.input').toggleClass("formfocus");}); The code isn't inside a (document).ready, but it is inside a <script> element at the end of the <body>. So I was hoping some of you guys who are more experienced with jQuery could tell me what I did wrong. Debuggers haven't been able to help and the tags are all proper, so I'm pretty stuck right now.
  9. I've heard it's amazing and I'm sure it is, but the book is a giant brick. As in, bigger than WoK or WoR sized brick. Also I've heard the first 15 chapters are description for a priest and his house. So definitely on my reading list as I have the book, but it'll take a while for me to really get to it. On a side note, PK read the whole thing in about a week.
  10. Probably won't join as I don't care much for LGs, but it looks interesting enough to spectate. And out of curiosity, how long did you wait to start this game just so you could get the L35? Also never actually read Les Miserables, so you can all rant about it to me now.
  11. The conference was LDStorymakers? I was there last year and he was the keynote speaker. I went there this year too. That's honestly pretty awesome and a really cool story to tell people. Sadly I missed the class last time and the signing this year. I did get a copy of Elantris signed last year though.
  12. So many people are going to die in this game. It's awesome.
  13. Yeah, I'll give this one a go. The cytonics thing sounds pretty fun, since you don't know if you'll defend yourself from an elim or a friendly. But wouldn't somebody who is helpful to the village always defend themselves to keep from being killed by an elim? Devon Halberdeen, geek and proud. He used to spend his free time reading books and wikipedia articles, but now that aliens are real, he's gotten a lot more involved in the scene. He would walk around hoping to find one, or practice using cytonics to make himself look cooler. He's socially awkward and not the most attractive, but he doesn't really care. Because aliens. Yeah he's not going to survive long.
  14. Yeah that was a fun game. Apologies for voting on you guys, @Ornstein @Jedal, and @Crimsn-Wolf. But it seems to have worked out in the end. The writeup was really good for what you had to work with, Hero, and I'm grateful that you managed to incorporate everything well. And Joe? Sorry about killing you. I was deliberating between RP and killing an experienced player, and ended up going the safer route. Rand? Glad you find our panicking amusing. It ended up being worthwhile since we did end up getting Generosity at some point, possibly due to your plan, and had to kill of one of our own members. All the RP was really fun and it was a blast to play this game. I'd probably give my CR vote to Flash. He kept his all the way through and had a really cool character. See you all next game!
  15. So we basically have this round to find the last eliminator, and it's been narrowed down to me and Drought? Then I'll be voting on DroughtBringer, thank you kindly. I know it's not me, and I'd like to eke out a tie at the least. Hope this works out all right, but currently looks like Elims are going to be winning.
  16. And we're back to lynching the inactive suspects then it would appear. Darkness Ascendant.
  17. Also you guys are ignoring the fact that if there's a tie, both ponies die. I am willing to put my vote on Jedal though, mostly to save my own skin, I will admit.
  18. Eh, makes sense. I did think he was evil for a lil' while, so it's understandable. I would, of course, prefer not to die if that's possible.
  19. What. What? Am I missing something here? And BR, when you say that the Elims couldn't get you, are you the person they tried to kill? So you've got Magic? And if I'm more active, you say that I could be more damaging to the village if I'm an Elim, but couldn't I also be more helpful to it if I'm a villager? I have noticed that for the majority of people who voted on me, they gave no reason to do so. No PK, that doesn't count. And just for the record, I'll be working on my death RP for just in case I do die. And I'll strive not to use that word more than twice.
  20. Yeah, I just read my post again, and I... seriously, did not realize I had used the word that often. I think there was even one time when I removed it due to the sentence being about Honesty. Completely forgetting the occasion as I went on to write a sentence that used the word twice. My writer's soul is crying out in anguished pain right now. It burns so bad.
  21. I honestly had no idea that he had called himself Honesty. And yeeep. Just looked back and found his post, just before Ecth's poem of betrayal. Yeah, I honestly missed that. (Pun unintended.) If I'd seen that I would have changed my vote. I honestly have no proof that you guys can believe me, but I honestly did not see that post. Voting on him wasn't an accident, but wasting time attacking him when he was innocent was a mistake, and that's what it was for. And I figured it was a sure thing that the Elims would target him right after he revealed that he knew. They only didn't do it two cycles ago because they wanted to take out Generosity before it escaped. So not revealing himself as Honesty or being in touch with Honesty only made me more suspicious since I thought the Elims killing him was a sure thing at that point. And am I the kind of player to ignore obvious and clear innocence in a post like that to keep on preaching a useless accusation? Looking back, I can honestly see how I could look like an Elim going after him, but I honestly thought I was correct in him selling out a teammate. But again, no proof. I will vote on Ornstein though. Not entirely convinced of his evilness, but he hasn't been much help, and is a better target than most. (Also since you other people are voting for him. I kinda learned my lesson after my crusade on HH. Maybe.)
  22. Well... Ups. I didn't do it! So he was Honesty all along. That kinda stinks for us. And to show my thought on the matter, Hemalurgic_Headshot. I'm guessing he told you in a PM and that's why you trusted him so much BR? And yeah, at this point I'm honestly willing to help lynch Ornstein. He hasn't contributed much, but when asked he has commented. So we know he's active, just not saying or doing anything, which is almost worse. And Jedal? Saying that you're not evil isn't very convincing. Also simply being active doesn't mean that you can't be an Elim either. Look at Flash for example. He was posting tons, but still ended up betraying us all to the elder gods of changeling-ism. That's a thing, right? It's totally a thing.
  23. He has never said he was holding Honesty. He has never said how he knew that Flash was an Elim in any way! If he did or had, I would be a lot less likely to vote for him. And yes I trust you and that you are village BR. I honestly believe that Ecth is probably village as well. But I still don't trust HH. If you have some sort of secret information that lets you know that yes, he is absolutely right and innocent, then please say so, as that would probably change my vote. Right now though, it's just not enough against my suspicions of nearly 3 cycles. My vote stands.
  24. So a rundown? First cycle we lynched Loyalty and Joe was kidnapped. Second cycle we lynched Laughter and Randuir was kidnapped after he made some really good suggestions to use Generosity as a way of checking loyalties, since Elims don't get to choose who it goes to. Cycle 3 we lynched Flash who was a new player and an Elim after HH said in the thread that he "knew" Flash was an Elim. Jondesu was kidnapped that cycle. 4th cycle the Generosity was used to soft-clear Alvron, Seonid, and BR. It ended up with Crimsn_Wolf who then revealed being an Eliminator along with Conatus and Quiver. We ended up lynching Conatus partially over inactivity, and he ended up being innocent. The same cycle, the Elims kidnapped Crimsn, removing Generosity from the equation by taking out their own member. This cycle Ecthelion voted on BR who had already been cleared by Generosity and is promptly being lynched for it. If anyone has anything else to add that I missed or was biased about, feel free.
