I liked Perrin from when the wolf thing started. Also how each of them think the other two are great with women when none of them have a clue. Very clever as it strikes true with most of us.
-
Anyway, who thinks Ambrose is the current king and Kvothe killed his father?

Ok. Most of my way through 'the storm front'!! Yes that's right, I've broken up the wheel of time series with an even bigger series of books because I'm a fool. Although just because there's more books I shouldn't say it's a bigger series as it's no where near as epic. And I do get the feeling that each Dresden files story can be picked up when ever, by which I mean each book is a separate story onto it's itself with only a small hint of follow on. Am right in thinking this? With the wheel of time at first I thought Matt was a dick! And he was! Really enjoyed his character in the third. Although, I can't recall him being a master of quarter staff previously. I remember vaguely it mentioning his father but didn't think it meant good enough to match a warder. Found that strange but entertaining. Getting board of the Rand vs the dark one though which is why the story hasn't gripped me. I find more self more interested in the other little rivalries that are going on.

Ok. The dragon reborn done. On the fence weather to carry on or not. Probably will. Think I'll break it up with pawn of prophecy or maybe another cosmere novel. In the wheel of time, is Matt anyone else's favourite character?

Lovely jubbly

Pawn of prophecy or guardians of the west? Does it matter much which one to hit first?

I'm on it. Book 3. The dragon reborn. Here we go

Great book. Really enjoyed it.

I have to say, a lot of the comments I read on here are very well written indeed. Are most of you aspireing writers? I haven't read 'Slow regard' yet but I will. The delay has stemmed from the fact that I know it has nothing in particular to do with the trilogy itself, and although most fans loved Auri, I only found her interesting. But for the love of Pats style I will read it at some point. I am however 2/3's of the way through 'the great hunt' WoT, and the story still hasn't gripped me. I know that's going off track (I think I was discussing this on a separate forum) I will probably still end up making my way through the whole series though. There's still a handful of cosmere stories I haven't read yet. Elantris or warbreaker? Which one first guys?

Fair point well made

It would seem a nerve has been struck. This forum is bound to be spilt with people who know Brandon better than others. It's human nature for people to form opinions just based on what they know. Maybe they shouldn't but we all do. I'm glad someone jumped to the defence of Brandon but it's bad form to off handedly berate someone using information that isn't widely known, ie your own personal experience with Brandon. That being said I do completely disagree with Two McMillion, and think everything you said of Brandon's and Pats style is spot on. I love them both.

That last comment was a bit strong!!

All the way through reading this thread I was thinking the exact same thing. Everyone assuming the blade Taln had at the end of WoK was an honour blade when it didn't fit the description of the rest of them at the beginning. Although Dalinar is asked to be rid of his blade to become a radiant and I presume it's because his particular blade is no different from the rest of the normal shard blades.

Never mind, just spotted the top 5 forum

Right guys. Started reading this forum to try and get a few tips on where to go next within the genre of epic fantasy fiction. I'm relatively new to it although I did LotR's years back. I've read most of Brandon's work, loved it. The king killer chronicles blew me away. I'm almost finished with 'the eye of the world' but I can't say that it's gripped me the way that Brandon and Pat had. Should I carry on with TWoT? Is it worth sticking by even if the first didn't enthral me? It's not that I don't like it, it's a good read but I'm looking for a story that sucks me in and doesn't let go, and the TWoT is a large collection of books to commit to if you're unsure. I'm well aware that recommendations would be subjective, but if you guys could just list your favourites and a small explanation as to why, that would be fantastic.

I would recommend reading this forum from the start if you haven't already. It's of interesting insights.

Maybe it's a it's a deliberate sign to let us know he's feeling more like his old self the more he tells the story. It's certainly Basts hope that this be the case. Quite a lot of readers are down playing Auri's role with in the story because she wasn't in the original script when Pat first came up with the story. I don't think this means anything. If he's added her it's for good reason. Maybe he found a better way of getting to a certain point with in the story. I think Auri could have major part to play. The fact she was added to the story later makes me think this even more. I don't think she was added just to fill pages.

I know what you mean. We've been led to believe by Pat that names are important, so important infact the 'Kote' can't function in the same way as Kvothe because he changed his name. And when the Bandits/soldiers threaten to rob the inn, Pat writes that 'Kvothe' makes his way around to them but yet still gets his chull kicked. But generally I think Pat used the name Kvothe later because there was nobody in the inn itself that knew him as Kote. Ie: villagers and such. It was just Bast and chronicler. Or strangers.

Would you not say that the current King could be Ambrose? Which could explain the huge bounty on Kvothe's head?
-
Do we think Tarborlan's cloak of no particular colour was a Shadow cloak made for him by felurian perhaps? Are we all going for mr Ash being Cinder? Denna's first song was convieniently showing Lanre as a hero not a traitor. Although a part of me at some point thought it may have been Ambrose only because of the references to him being a good dancer, and he likes to beat women. We're all confident the Kwothe has Lackless blood but with the splinters of names through the ages could Chronicler be a distant relative also?
-
Apologies. You're right of course, names are important, the author probably spends a lot of time thinking of them and the least I can do is spell them correctly. My ignorance comes from the fact that I listened to the audio books instead of reading them as I don't get much time to pick up a book these days unfortunately.

James McAvoy as Docksen I should say
-
I think who'm ever plays Eland will play Zane also.
-
Or Docksen as James McAvoy

Kelsier: Michael Fassbender Vin: ziyi zhang Ham: dwayne johnson / Jason Statham Breeze: RDJ (using his impeccable British accent) Dox: Martin freeman Sazed: Eland: Alex pettyfer Spooks: Kevin Hart (test to try him in a serious role capable of humour) Straf: Charles Dance Lord ruler: rufus Sewell Brian Cox or Ray Winstone would be ideal casting for Cett.
