  1. Gravity Falls could very easily be the best contemporary American cartoon. I'm not really sure if it has a single bad episode.
  2. In college, one of the houses I lived in had a bat my roommate and I would call Bruce. He would fly in on hot nights and hang on the grating of our box fan while we pestered him about paying his portion of the rent.
  3. It began awhile back, even succeeded! We've merely been kept around for entertainment value.
  4. The other difference is that General Conference is just speeches and some music... It's not very interactive like the General Assembly sounds.
  5. George seems to be going out of his way to feel sad and depressed. To quote from a Jack Vance short story: "Sometimes I stand by the door and look into the darkness. Then I am reminded...what a precious commodity is so much misery."
  6. Magical rainbows are just magical light presented in a magical spectrum visible to the magical eye, so the unicorn's powers are not diminished... particularly with its marshmallow laser!
  7. Dwight the Knight
  8. Aaaah, marbles...

    1. Citadel16

      Citadel16

are they mine? i think I lost them a while back.

  9. Spoilers have no effect on me!And even if they did, I can merely avoid the internet for the week it would take me to read The book. Mwahaha!
  10. And vape-ers! For awhile there, they used their stupid e-cigarettes everywhere, even in bookstores! And they would try to make the biggest cloud and chuckle like middle schoolers saying "butt"under their breath.
  11. "He's pining for the fjords!"Yes, that will do nicely.
  12. People don't know how to say fjord
  13. Well, Batman v. Superman was better than the Desolation of Smaug. I'll take what I can get!
  14. It's the price of maintaining friendships... sob!
  15. I have to watch Batman v. Superman later on tonight. Why does God hate me so?
  16. I have no reason to believe there is a higher being, much less an omnipotent one, that would care about me. It seems kinda narcissistic to me, like: "look at how important I am that a timeless, spaceless, all powerful entity cares about me personally!"The kalam cosmological argument is as follows: Whatever begins to exist has a cause; The universe began to exist; Therefore: The universe has a cause. The issue being that this does not demonstrate that the "cause" is any sort of God that people recognize as such (essentially an intelligent force) It also assumes that the universe has a definite beginning as opposed to having different stages of being and changing from one to another. We often say the universe started from the Big Bang, but it is better to say the universe as we observe it had its origin in the Big Bang. Before that, the universe existed, but as a singularity containing all mass, and before that? Who knows. In either event, the kalam cosmological fails in demonstrating the necessary existence of an intelligent creative force and I doubt the soundness of the premise that the universe ever "began", rather that it only changes.
  17. It is kinda hard to pinpoint what was lost. I think the key difference is that it lost a sort of whimsical manner and became merely silly. There's also the matter of the characters becoming parodies of themselves, an increased focus on more contemporary pop culture, and the murder of Phil Hartman...but I think all those issues would be surmountable if they kept a healthy dose of whimsy.
  18. That gets close to how I feel. If there is a deity who happens to be omnipotent, it's going to do whatever it wants. I won't be able to compel it to act according to my wishes. If it's not omnipotent, then why should I bother? Under what knowledge do I have assurance it could and would fulfill any of my desires?
