  1. Sounds like it might have something to do with physical pressure on the screen: accumulated heat and physical pressure is just too much sometimes.
  2. Agreed. His books are entertaining enough, but his blog! He's in a position with enough talent to give no nonsense commentary that people like me need!
  3. If there are no behavior changes, you can probably wait until next pay period. While there, discuss the effects of dietary choices. Going with more expensive food may do pretty much nothing, particularly with regards to potatoes (which probably acts as filler). Your reaction is normal I imagine you all ready know the important signs to watch out for with regards to pug health, everything else you can triage based on behavior and available resources.
  4. Yeah, part of the food process is you have to make sure it has all the nutrients your pet needs. Otherwise, it's "empty calories". Are these recommendations from the vet?
  5. It does not really matter. It's like that Lewis C K routine says: you don't get to decide if you're being a cremhole. Also, the following blog entry from John Scalzi seems like it would be very relevant right now: Presenting "An Incomplete Guide to Not Creeping" http://whatever.scalzi.com/2012/08/09/an-incomplete-guide-to-not-creeping/
  6. I have a somewhat low opinion of the Dalai Lama.
  7. @Silverblade5 To quote a mad man: "You've forgotten what I told you a long time ago. One of the painful truths of comedy: YOU ALWAYS TAKE SHOTS FROM FOLKS WHO JUST DON'T GET THE JOKE!"
  8. I don't really see any indications that she is particularly intelligent. Everything else is just standard. She's a standard friend with standard concerns and standard responses which (spoilers to follow)
  9. Personally, I don't get the Barb obsession. Fine, she's the only teenage character that does not start out as an unlikable tool, but an intriguing character?
  10. That "Special Kind of Stupid" meme. In fact, at the risk of implicating myself:
  11. Post of the year! @Kestrel
  12. That's part of the recent psychotic avoidance of spoilers I'm talking about. It's not even just "don't tell me the twist ending" it's "OMG DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT IT OR YOU'LL RUIN IT! WHAT?! HARRY POTTER IS IN IT? THAT'S IT, YOU'RE GROUNDED! THAT'LL TEACH YOU TO SPOIL THINGS!"
  13. City of Stairs is great, but also has a slight Perdido Street Station feel to it...so depending on your mood, you may want to read something else.
  14. Speaking of Cursed Child, some friends of mine grounded their adopted daughter in relation to that book for about a week. What happened is that they got one copy of the book and let her read it first. Afterwards, she revealed a "spoiler" to them. What was the spoiler? Something inane that happens at the beginning of the story anyways. If I've ever gotten on a soapbox here about how people are too obsessed with avoiding spoilers, this is a perfect example of this obsession and it's negative consequences.
  15. I haven't really noticed this obsession.
  16. Sometimes, when I sip beer or tea, I'll whisper "I love you." I do like a good beer or tea
  17. Luck. It's best to not get them in the first place
  18. Public interest in such esoteric topics as water rights in the fifty states are such that he could get away with it. It also seems that the bibliography philosophy is to mostly only quote things that can be found online (I.e. There are lots of citations from state websites). It's also cited incorrectly. There's a reason you include the time the page was accessed for the quote, darn those socks! Also, the Publisher is this small group that is interested in such, so their editorial...qualities...will be somewhat lacking.
  19. I'm reading a book on water rights in the fifty states right now and I cringe every time the author quotes Wikipedia.
  20. An open access internet journal is rarely a trusted publication I also suspect those same irritating number of people would not accept the argument because they have a study that proves their position, so surely science is on their side! It's somewhat of a bother, since everyone seems to do it. It's easier (and less expensive!) and seems to legitimize one's position.
  21. It is an interesting article, but it is not "science" until there is consensus Which leads to a point: you don't need science to have a convincing argument.
  22. Felicidades! As they might say in some neighborhoods in Denver, Colorado.
  23. The worst parts are the nights *coyote howls in the distance*
