  1. Gama radiation could cause death very quickly, almost instantly if focused enough. the only things that could limit this is how much stormlight it would take, and how much control a Lightweaver has over waves. Since we have no way of properly knowing how much stormlight it would take, or how much control a lightweaver has, there is no way to prove or disprove the potential. So we are left with simple speculations about the possibility of the power. Also, I think you are underplaying the power of microwaves. there is a reason microwaves require the door to be closed to work. microwaves interact with molecules causing them to heat up, you could literally cook people alive with them if they don't have the proper shielding.
  2. I was thinking this same thing just the other day. It seams many of the surges could have power well beyond what we think. With Illumination, you could also bend light, you could use this to make yourself invisible, or even possibly viewing the past. How about Gravitations ability to alter the gravitational constant? you could change the gravity of a planet causing it to alter its orbit. It starts to make sense how surgebinders could destroy a planet.
  3. I think it was the Windrunner Honor blade, it was stolen to open the oathgate to Kholinar. Also, that would make the most sense thematically.
  4. I think Moash is being groomed to be Kaladins Arch-nemesis. Kaladin and Moash have a ton in common. They both were high dawn dark eyes, whos parent\grandparents had a clash with Roshone, that resulted in the death of a family member. They both joined the Army with dreams of fighting on the shattered plains only to end up in the bridge crews. they both are talented with the spear, and when they met, they both hated lighteyes, and wanted revenge on the people that wronged them. they diverge from a similar starting point and end up on opposite sides because of it. Kaladin blames himself and holds himself accountable for everything, while Moash blames everything on others, and takes no personal responsibility. I think Moash may end up causing the death of Lirin, I don't know if he will be personally responsible but I think it will lead to a major clash between Moash and Kaladin. Going really off topic here, I wouldn't be surprised if Kladin having to chose between saving his mother and brother, or his father, leads to him swearing the fourth ideal.
  5. I think you may be on the right track, but I don't think they were providing power to Odium, but rather weakening Honor, and Honors Power. We know that somehow Honor trapped Odium in the System, and I think that between that, and the investiture of the Heralds, and KR, that is why Honor was weak enough for Odium to kill. I think when Honor died, the KR realized that their use of the power lead to his death, and that continued use of the power would weaken whatever keeps Odium trapped. Also, from what we have seen, it seems the KR have issues with their oaths and how too keep them, that's why the spren always point it out. I can totally see the Windrunners realizing that by being KR they were endangering people, and that the only way to protect them is to betray their oaths. That said, I have to point out that I really strongly doubt that Odium is taking any of Honors power, as the way I understand it, if he did it would alter his intent. similar to what happened with Ruin and Preservation, and if i remember correctly there are WOB that mention that Odium does not want to take on any other shards to change his intent.
  6. I feel like Ehlokar's redemption was more about finalizing Moash's betrayal. The story already has 2 epic redemption stories, what it really needed was an archenemy for Kaladin. Batman needs the Joker, Superman needs Lex Luthor, and Kaladin needs Moash.
  7. seeing as a hoof is very similar to fingernails, has anyone considered the relationship between the Hedazians and their stone fingernails, and Ryshadium and their stone hooves? Also, I found it interesting that the Herdazian members of bridge 4 all seemed to quickly gain access to the radiant/squire powers while even some of the more dedicated members of bridge 4 took much longer. Oh, and Lopen being the first to intentionally access stormlight, while very far away from Kaladin.
  8. Dawnslight seems to be much more powerful and any epic we have seen yet, he literally alters reality, making paint glow for no reason, but only in a certain location. a location, I might add, that he does not reside within. he makes plants grow with no soil. can make anything grow on the plants. make radios work with no electricity. and most impressive of all seems omnipresent anywhere where he has altered things. Here is my current theory, Dawnslight made Calamity!!! I think someone was experimenting on Dawnslight and gave him the power to alter reality, but he doesn't often do it consciously, but rather subconsciously. Since he was a young man when he went into his coma, his subconscious is immature, and alters reality to be like his favorite images from his child hood (movies and things he liked.) One of the things young people often dream of is super hero's, but what kind of people would a scared child give powers to? I would say that young children think people who are afraid need powers. so Dawnslight created Calamity, and Calamity gives powers to people with fears, because that's who Dawnslight thinks needs powers. another random thing, when calamity first appeared there was screaming, we don't yet know why, but if that was the moment Dawnslight got his powers he could have altered something else that caused the screaming.
  9. Pretty sure Prof weakness is going to be people who feel he has failed them. The contest he didn't enter wasn't because he was afraid of losing, but because he was afraid of letting Tia, and his kids down. When David joined the reckoners he threatens David when David puts the team in danger, because he doesn't want to let his team down. When David improvises Prof jumps in to prevent letting David down. Prof kills Exel before he can register what he has done with killing Val. When Prof shows up to kill David, he regards David strangely, and it isn't until David reacts in a way that shows he isn't blaming Prof that Prof tries to kill him. My conclusion is that Profs weakness is people who feel he has failed them.
  10. My thoughts are that Brandon will never release "ALL" the information pertaining to anything. In the words of Brandon via Kelsier "there's always another secret." The good news is his magic systems are so complex that he can release tons of new information in every book and still keep his secrets.
  11. I had an idea while reading this. Perhaps Honor attempted to prevent the Mindless unmade from running rampant. and destroying Roshar, by bringing them all together into say, an incredibly destructive storm that rotates around the planet? Would also explain why the Listeners need to go out into a high storm to transform.
  12. All shard blades have had gems added to the hilt to allow them to be summoned and dismissed. It not and unreasonable leap from that to assume that some ornamentation could have been added to them at some point. Also it's possible Honor being dead may have had an impact on the honor blades, or perhaps the answer is even simpler. we know that shard blades are able to change at the will of the radiant wielding them, and they were fashioned to be similar to the Honor blades, perhaps the honor blades can change at the will of the person wielding them. that would make sense with the fact that shin seem to be a humble people and so as time went on the honor blades changed to match what the shin thought they should be.
  13. So I have been reading these forums for a few days, and it has sparked some questions. Please if this topic is being discussed somewhere direct me there. if not I think this is something that could be fun to talk about. I was reading the WOB and he mentioned that he had wanted to do 10 day weeks for stormlight, but after working on WOT he decided to change it to 2 weeks of 5 days each, or 2 sets of 5. after reading Brandon's works it is hard to let repetitive numbers go by without looking for how they relate to the story. so as I have been looking through stuff I have seen frequent grouping of 2 sets of 5. the books will be written in 2 sets of 5. Heralds have 5 men and 5 women, this also means that the KR can be divided into 2 sets of 5 based on the herald they are lead by. that also lets you separate the magic system into 2 sets of 5. now after thinking about this I was trying to figure out why it would be divided into 2 sets of 5. and I had a thought. Wyndle talks about the night watcher as his mother. Syl talks about the storm father as her father (note that the edgedancer herald is female, and windrunner herald is male.) we know there was some close connection between the night watcher and cultivation, and the storm father is essentially Honors spren. we also know that Honor and cultivation had some sort of strong connection, as after honor was destroyed cultivation lost hope in men. this leads me to 2 possible ideas of what is going on. the knights radiant are utilizing a magic system created by 2 shards (similar to ruin and preservation working together to create people resulted in Feruchemy), or there are actually 2 different magical powers being used by the KR. either way this would explain why each order is granted access to two surges not just one. some ramifications of this could be that we have yet to see either cultivations, or Honors actual magic system. also, If working together they created the spren that bond with humans, it could explain how the spren have varying ideals, based on their alignment to a specific shard. I don't know these were just some thoughts I was having that I hadn't seen any mention of, and wanted to see if other more informed fans had any input.
